ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Auditor-General of Pakistan (AGP) Maqbool Ahmed Gondal on Sunday reaffirmed the commitment of the Department of the Auditor-General of Pakistan to strengthening legislative oversight through modern performance auditing practices.
He was addressed as chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of a three-week international training program in Lahore, said a news release.
He urged auditors to apply newly learned techniques in their professional work and said the training should mark “the beginning of a new chapter” in their careers.
Maqbool said that the participation of foreign audit institutions reflected growing international trust and highlighted the importance of global knowledge-sharing within the audit community.
The program, organized by the Performance Audit Wing, was attended by 20 participants from audit institutions and government organizations of Oman, the Gambia, Nepal, and Pakistan, along with representatives from federal and provincial departments.
Director General Performance Audit Wing Aamir Fayyaz said the course covered the “5Es” of performance auditing across all stages of the audit cycle, with emphasis on practical learning and presentation skills.
Participants prepared Preliminary Survey Reports, reviewed performance audit reports, and were evaluated by audit and management experts. They also visited field organizations to observe project planning and monitoring mechanisms and took part in cultural visits around the city.
Officials said the training reflects ongoing efforts to improve transparency and accountability in the public sector.
They said continuous professional development in performance auditing is essential to meet increasing expectations for efficiency, equity and effectiveness in government institutions.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the participants on successful completion of the course.
All officers from Lahore chapter, including Director General to AGP Hashim Raza Khatak, also attended the ceremony.
