Bugti orders expansion of telehealth, merit-based hiring in Balochistan healthcare system

QUETTA, Mar 26 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of telehealth services across Balochistan, the implementation of a public model health plan in Upper Dera Bugti, and other key healthcare initiatives.

The session was attended by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Health Secretary Mujeeb ur Rehman Panezai, and other senior officials. Participants received a detailed briefing on the province-wide telehealth system and the establishment of a model health district in Upper Dera Bugti.

Sarfraz Bugti directed authorities to ensure merit-based recruitment of hospital staff in Upper Dera Bugti and Sui, stressing that no administrative or political pressure would be tolerated in the hiring process.

Highlighting the importance of technology in healthcare delivery, he emphasized the need to expand telehealth services, noting that digital solutions can play a crucial role in providing medical care to remote and underserved areas.

He also instructed officials to expedite administrative arrangements to ensure quality healthcare at the district level, enabling timely and effective treatment for the public.

The meeting also reviewed operational matters related to Bacha Khan Memorial Hospital in Zarghoon Housing Scheme, Quetta. Bugti underscored that strengthening basic health units is essential to delivering healthcare at people’s doorsteps, which remains a top priority of the provincial government.

CM Sarfraz Bugti reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening and streamlining the telehealth system across the province. He emphasized that a robust monitoring mechanism is indispensable to ensure transparency, efficiency, and quality in healthcare service delivery.
