Balochistan launches electric bike scheme on easy installments for students, workers

QUETTA, Mar 11 (APP):The Balochistan government has launched a new Electric Bikes Scheme to provide affordable and environmentally friendly transportation for students, working women, and the general public.
The scheme was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at a ceremony in Quetta. Speaking at the event, Bugti said the initiative represents a major step toward promoting modern, low-cost, and sustainable transportation in the province.
Under the program, residents will be able to obtain electric bikes through easy installment plans, making commuting for education, work, and daily needs more accessible.
Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that distribution will be carried out with full transparency and strictly on merit. Applicants from any district in Balochistan can apply through an online system, with recipients selected via a transparent balloting process.
The electric bikes included in the scheme will have a range of 70–100 kilometers, suitable for daily commuting. Bugti noted that the initiative will not only provide reliable transport but also contribute to fuel conservation and environmental protection.
The chief minister revealed that the government is considering introducing electric loaders in the next phase to support small businesses and workers who rely on transport for their livelihoods.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing modern facilities, eco-friendly transport, and sustainable development across Balochistan.
The ceremony was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaquat Lehri, members of the provincial cabinet and assembly, and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, along with other senior officials.
