ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (APP): The federal capital has started e-stamping across Islamabad, bringing stamp paper issuance to a digital portal.
The move is designed to close gaps that allowed misuse of paper stamps and to offer a clear process for buyers, sellers, and officials, said the spokesman of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration here.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon recently visited stamp shops at the F-8 Katchery to review the transition.
During the visit, he checked how vendors are using the system and how citizens are being guided. Officials briefed him on daily operations, user flow, and verification steps built into the portal.
Revenue officers explained that e-stamp papers can be generated through the online portal and downloaded without delay. The system records each transaction, links it to a unique reference, and stores it in a central database. This allows users and authorities to confirm details at any time.
Stamp vendors welcomed the launch and thanked the district administration for introducing the system in Islamabad. They said the shift to e-stamping will stop fake stamp papers and reduce disputes linked to manual handling. Vendors added that digital issuance helps maintain records and reduces pressure during peak hours.
According to the briefing, the portal allows users to select the required stamp value, enter details, and download the e-stamp paper after payment. The process removes the need to search for specific paper stamps and limits the role of intermediaries.
The Deputy Commissioner said the dashboard has been kept simple to support citizens who may not be familiar with online services. He noted that the goal is to ensure access without confusion and to reduce visits to offices. Clear steps, on-screen guidance, and verification tools have been added to the dashboard.
Officials said citizens can verify e-stamp papers at once through the digital dashboard. By entering the reference number, users can confirm the status and details of the document. This feature supports courts, banks, and other offices that require quick checks.
Irfan Memon stated that the digital dashboard allows instant verification and helps prevent misuse. He said the system strengthens trust by making records visible and traceable.
During the review, the Deputy Commissioner also examined system performance, load handling, and support arrangements for vendors and users. Revenue officers said training sessions have been held for stamp sellers to ensure smooth adoption. Help desks and guidance material are available to address issues faced by users.
The administration said e-stamping will improve service delivery by cutting delays linked to manual processes. With online access, citizens can obtain stamp papers without waiting in lines or facing shortages.
Officials added that the system supports record keeping and audit needs. Digital logs help track issuance and payments, which supports oversight and planning.
The visit concluded with directions to continue monitoring the rollout and to collect feedback from users and vendors. The administration said updates will be made where needed to keep the process simple and reliable.
