HYDERABAD, Jan 24 (APP): A ceremony was held at the Regional Secretariat of Wafaqi Mohtasib Hyderabad to mark the completion of 43 years since the establishment of the Regional Secretariat institution.

Officers and staff of the regional office attended the event. Addressing the participants, Senior Adviser and Regional Head Ghulam Rasool Aahpan said that the Wafaqi Mohtasib institution was performing its duties with dedication across most parts of the country including Islamabad, and was resolving complaints of citizens on a priority basis. He said these efforts had further strengthened public trust in the institution.

Ghulam Rasool Aahpan also conveyed the message of Wafaqi Mohtasib Aijaz Ahmed Qureshi, who highlighted the institution’s performance and effectiveness. According to the message, the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat was established in 1983, with its headquarters set up in Islamabad, followed by the establishment of offices in all four provincial capitals.

He said that at present, besides the head office in Islamabad, 28 regional offices and complaint centers of the institution were functioning across the country. The Wafaqi Mohtasib noted that due to the continuous efforts, hard work and dedication of officers and staff, the institution had emerged as a model of good governance in the country.

The message further stated that the institution had promoted transparency, accountability, good governance and the rule of law within government offices and departments. Over its 43 year journey, the Wafaqi Mohtasib HAD provided relief to more than 2.5 million families, most of whom belong to underprivileged segments of society and remote areas, he added.

Aijaz Ahmed Qureshi further stated that during the year 2025 alone, the institution solved 261,101 complaints. He added that the continuous increase in complaints was attributed to the establishment of new regional offices, holding of open courts and initiatives such as IRD. He urged that officers and staff should further intensify their efforts to ensure prompt redressal of public grievances.
