Pak PWD abolition a step towards removing rot eating our system: PM
ISLAMABAD, Jun 4 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reiterating zero tolerance for corruption, inefficiency and incompetence, said that his decision to abolish Pakistan Public Works Department ( Pak PWD) was a step towards removing the rot that was eating the system like a cancer from within.
He was referring to his government’s decision to abolish Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) due to years’ long poor performance and corruption, as well as the department’s failure to achieve its objectives.
“I am fully committed to building a more honest, dedicated and efficient bureaucracy that will deliver high quality public service and raise standards of governance,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline, a day after he issued the directives in a high-level meeting on Monday.
In the meeting, the prime minister was apprised of a report compiled by a committee headed by Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan which recommended for abolition of certain government entities and merger of others. The prime minister directed the committee for finalization of further recommendations.

Maritime Minister applauds Pak Navy for thwarting off narcotics smuggling attempt
KARACHI, Jun 03 (APP): Federal Minister Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh applauded Pakistan Navy for thwarting off an attempt to smuggle narcotics in the northern Arabian sea.
According to spokesman of the minister, the naval ship PNS Yarmook seized a huge quantity of narcotics. The captured drugs are calculated to be worth thousands of dollars in the global market.
“The operation of Pakistan Navy officials in the Pakistan’s maritime boundaries to foil an attempt to smuggle narcotics should be appreciated” the Federal Minister added.
PM grieved over loss of lives in coal mine gas suffocation incident
LAHORE, Jun 4 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed his deep grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in a coal mine gas leak incident in Sanjadi area of Balochistan province.
The prime minister prayed for the high ranks of the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured and directed for provision of all available medical treatment to them. The prime minister said that they shared the moments of grief with the affected families.
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja in a meeting with delegation of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
