ISLAMABAD, Aug 10 (APP): The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan following Arshad Nadeem’s historic achievement at the Paris Olympics.

In a congratulatory message, the Embassy said the Pakistani javelin thrower shattered a 118-year-old Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters, securing a Gold Medal for Pakistan.

The Embassy lauded this monumental moment, expressing joy and pride in witnessing such an achievement. “Bravo! Such a historical moment for our brothers and sisters,” the message read, emphasizing the close ties between the two nations.

The Iranian Embassy further conveyed its happiness in seeing Pakistan reach this great milestone, underscoring the significance of Arshad Nadeem’s victory not only for Pakistan but also as an inspiration to athletes across the globe.

RDA launches operation to remove encroachments from banks of Nullah Leh

RAWALPINDI, Aug 10 (APP):Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak and Director General (DG) RDA, Kinza Murtaza, has launched an operation to remove encroachments from banks of Nullah Leh.
The RDA spokesman told on Saturday that the RDA enforcement team demolished illegal constructions in Dhoke Naju, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rattaamral and Gungmandi areas.
He informed that the officials while conducting operations took strict action against the rules violators. The operation was supervised by Director Land RDA, Malik Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Assistant Commissioner, City Rawalpindi, Hakim Khan and other officials concerned.
The DG RDA had directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against the rules violators and no one should be allowed to indulge in illegal constructions and dumping of solid waste and garbage on the banks of Nullah Leh.
He said that FIRs would also be lodged against those found violating orders of the administration.
The DG had instructed the authorities to take action against the rules violators without any discrimination.

PFA seizes 2300 litre adulterated milk

MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 10 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has recovered 2300 litre adulterated milk during a special campaign launched across the district on Saturday.
A special team of PFA under the supervision of Director Operations South Punjab, Shahzad Magsi, on Saturday launched a special operation against milk suppliers and set up picket at entry points of the district. The team collected samples of milk from 84 milk supplier vehicles out of which adulteration proved in the milk loaded on eight different vehicles.
The PFA teams disposed off the recovered 2300 litre milk which was going to be supplied to different milk shops.
Director South Punjab Shahzad Magsi said that checking of milk quality at entry points of the district would continue and stern action would be taken against adulterators. He said that as per directives of the DG PFA Muhammad Asif Javed, the food safety teams visiting all markets of the city to ensure availability of good quality food items to masses.

Governor reviews plans for medical college in Attock

LAHORE, Aug 10 (APP):Punjab Governor/Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan presided over a meeting regarding the establishment of a medical college in Attock district at the Governor’s House here on Saturday.
In the meeting, former Punjab caretaker Health Minister Javed Akram gave a detailed briefing about the project. Deputy Commissioner Attock Rana Atif Raza participated in the meeting through video link.
Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Dr. Shahid Munir, was also present in the meeting. He informed the Punjab Governor/Chancellor about the exhibition of research projects of Punjab universities to be held in the next few months.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sardar Saleem Haider said that the establishment of a medical college would provide medical education and public health facilities to the poor people of the remote areas of Punjab province. He said that satellite centers would be established in backward tehsil Fateh Jhang and other areas of Attock district. He added that the establishment of these satellite centers would promote community medicine practice of international standards. He also directed to form a working committee to expedite the project of establishing a medical college. As regards the exhibition of research projects, he said that the representatives of the industry should also be invited in the exhibition of the research projects to develop academia-industry linkage.
Special Secretary Academics Abdul Rahman Shah, Deputy Secretary Dr. Asad and Deputy Secretary Zil e Huma from the Governor’s Secretariat were also present in the meeting .

CM directs PRA to increase revenue by Rs50bn

LAHORE, Aug 10 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to increase revenue by Rs50 billion without affecting the common men.
Chairing a meeting with PRA new Chairman Nauman Yusuf on Saturday, the CM directed to increase resources for maximum social welfare projects. She directed the authorities to expand the scope of the PRA to 12 more districts of Punjab including Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Bahawalpur, Okara, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan and Toba Tek Singh.
The chief minister also directed to link Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for real-time integration of database.
Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Finance Mujahid Sher Dil and other relevant officers also attended the meeting.

Ferry J. Murdiansyah also appreciated the presence of all coordinators who have helped the Embassy in the protection mission towards its nationals in Pakistan.

The pre-event is marked by great festivity. A highly anticipated, joyful aspect of the Independence Day celebration is the indispensable tradition of the sports events and fun games that take place nationwide and across the globe supported by the Indonesian missions abroad. In Islamabad, the pre-event begins with the fun walk at the Diplomatic Enclave.

All participants wear a T-Shirt in national fervor and a spirit of red and white representing the colors of the Indonesian flag. Regardless of age, there are fun activities for everyone.

Covering a distance of three kilometers the fun walk finished back at the Embassy where the participants were greeted by refreshments and surprise gifts. Later, various games described as ‘Lomba 17an’ in the Indonesian language got underway featuring hotly contested events such as badminton, table tennis, volleyball, and futsal.

The Indonesian traditional popular games like Tug of War (Tarik Tambang), Wooden Clog Race (Lomba Bakiak), Sack Race (Balap Karung), Spoon-Marble Race (Lomba Kelereng), and coloring competitions for the kids were special features of the day.

These games highlight the playful and amusing nature of the celebrations not only greatly entertained the participants and spectators but showcased Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage as well.

Apart from physical activity and amusement, sports and fun games essentially symbolize the spirits of unity, friendship, and collaboration among Indonesian nationals.

“With the funwalk under rain, we are expected to feel the hard struggle of our nation founding fathers and mothers to reach independence for us. However, the independence is not the end of our journey. As the first Indonesian President Sukarno declared that independence is the golden bridge towards justice and prosperity,” explained Chargé d’Affaires Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma.

Moreover, the Indonesian Chargé d’Affaires while introducing Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day Logo and Theme, “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia”, he further illustrated the momentous transition and the ambitious project of shifting the Indonesian capital city and administrative heart from the bustling city of Jakarta to Nusantara City which is greener and sustainable.

To spice up the event, the special food stalls were set up by the Indonesian students, offering a choice of Indonesian popular scrumptious dishes such as Rendang (spicy meat dish), Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Nasi Padang (steamed rice served with various dishes), Mei Goreng (fried noodles) and Soto or the traditional soups, and much more, he remarked.

“Nusantara is conceptualized and designed to be more than just a new capital city but it essentially represents a long term vision for the nation,” he concluded.

“For sure, I am very happy. Meeting with my Indonesian friends and having traditional meals together are such a blessing for me,” said Muna, an Indonesian national married to a Pakistani from Kasur, Punjab. “I am coming to the Embassy not alone, but along with my Pakistani families. We enjoy the event,” added Andalusia from Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, he remarked.

75 countries’ participation in ‘FoodAg 2024’ expo shows their trust in Pakistan: Jam Kamal

KARACHI, Aug 10 (APP): The Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has said that the participation of hundreds of delegations and companies from 75 countries in the second edition of International Food and Agriculture Exhibition 2024 was manifestation of their trust in Pakistan. He said that the participation of women especially, from Balochistan was commendable.
Addressing a press conference during the FoodAg at Expo Centre on Saturday, he said that the exhibition of such level had been held for the first time in the history of the country.
The minister said that the representatives from European Union, African countries, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and others had been participating in the three days exhibition. He said that along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish ministers were also present in the opening ceremony.
Kamal said that the visitors in the exhibition had not come from only one region but 800 delegations had come from 75 countries.
He said that they would also organize exhibitions in other cities of the country. The minister said that this expo would help improve agriculture and exports related to it. He said that it would also have a positive effect on the farmers and the country’s economy. Kamal said that the success of the exhibition was due to hard-work of the Ministry of Commerce and missions posted in different countries.
The federal minister said that the world was interested in doing business with Pakistan. He said that it was a fact that the country was facing challenges and problems. He further said that in spite of these challenges the economy had stabilized and the inflation had decreased.
Kamal said that there were many opportunities in food and agriculture sector and big groups from other sectors of the country also wanted to come to this sector, which would also benefit the farmers.
