Mohsin congratulates nation on Independence Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP):Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has extended heartiest congratulations to the nation on the eve of Independence Day.
He said,”we are grateful to Allah Almighty that we are living in a free homeland. He said that we must learn the value of freedom from the enslaved nations.”
He emphasized that we must appreciate the true value and dignity of our free homeland. He also highlighted that millions of Muslims sacrificed their blood to light the flames of freedom.
He paid rich tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices of those who were martyred in the Pakistan Movement. He also honoured the great sacrifices of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace of the homeland.
Interior Minister stated that there is no country as beautiful and resource-rich as Pakistan in the world, but unfortunately, as a nation, we have wasted 77 years in mutual dicords, parochial, linguistic and sectarian biases.
He stressed that now is the time for the entire nation to unite and think about Pakistan collectively, because if Pakistan exists, so do we all.
He underscored that we must set aside egos, differences, and divisions forever and contribute towards making Pakistan a great country. He said, “Independence Day demands  that we must learn from past mistakes and move towards a bright future. We must all play our part in national development by following the principles of faith, unity, and discipline.”
 He expressed confidence that with the grace of Allah Almighty, the nation will overcome every challenge. He called for the resolve to put aside personal interests and work together for the progress and development of Pakistan.

NUST observes Independence Day with patriotic zeal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP):National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) observed Pakistan’s Independence Day with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm.
In a celebratory event held at the university’s main campus, the chief guest Maj Gen Dr. Saeed ur Rehman Sarwar HI (M), DG Projects NUST, hoisted the green and white flag in the presence of an overwhelming number of NUST students, and families of faculty and staff.
Children from the NUST community, with their captivating speeches and rendition of national songs, paid glowing tribute to the forefathers for their immeasurable sacrifices to make Pakistan a reality.
The chief guest, in his insightful speech, encouraged every member of the society to contribute to nation building in their respective roles.
The foreign representatives of Mozambique, Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, China, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Egypt were also present at the ceremony.

Independence Day celebrated at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam

HYDERABAD, Aug 14 (APP):Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, along with its constituent college and campus, celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with vibrant festivities and a strong sense of patriotism.
  The day’s activities started with a “Salam Pakistan Rally,” starting from the Crop Production Faculty and concluding at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat. The rally was led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri and saw enthusiastic participation from deans, professors, students, and staff.
  The main campus, along with its affiliated colleges and campus, hosted various events to honor this significant occasion. The highlight was a grand flag-hoisting ceremony where Dr. Fateh Marri, accompanied by senior university officials, proudly hoisted the national flag.
  The ceremony included the singing of the national anthem and prayers for the nation’s prosperity and the global elevation of Islam.
  At Dr. A.M. Shaikh Auditorium Hall, students from Bukhari Model High School delivered impressive performances. The students sang patriotic songs, delivered speeches on Pakistan’s independence, and presented national tableaus that resonated with the audience.
  Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri underscored the divine significance of Pakistan and encouraged everyone to contribute to its progress. He emphasized Pakistan’s agricultural heritage and highlighted the crucial role of agricultural scientists in advancing the nation’s development through impactful research and innovation.
  The event also featured speeches by prominent figures, including Ateeq-ur-Rehman, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, and Dr. Mahmood Mughal, who spoke on the importance of independence and the youth’s responsibilities in safeguarding the nation’s future.
  The celebrations were attended by distinguished university members, including Dean Dr. Inayatullah Rajpar, Dr. Ghayasuddin Shah, Dr. Altaf Siyal, Dr. Aijaz Ali Khooharo, Dr. Manzoor Ali Abro, Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi, Director of Finance Anil Kumar, Dr. Bachal Bhutto, Dr. Abdul Wahid Baloch, Anwar Hussain Khanzada, and Mumtaz Ali Jakhro, along with a large number of teachers, students, and staff.

According to GCWUS spokesperson Rana Adnan, on the occasion of 77th Independence Day of Pakistan,flag hoisting,cake cutting, seminar, plantation and volleyball match were organized at GC Women University Sialkot.
Vice Chancellor (VC) GCWUS, Prof. Dr.Zarin Fatima Rizvi hoisted the flag along with heads of departments, faculty, staff and children.
Addressing to the participants of the seminar, Vice Chancellor (VC),GCWUS Prof. Dr.Zarin Fatima Rizvi said that we got Pakistan as a reward for the sacrifices of our elders.
Allah’s blessing was upon Pakistan,a country built on the foundation of the word “Kalma Shahadat”, VC GCWUS said.
She said that Quaid-e-Azam had said that no force can destroy Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Zarrin Fatima Rizvi advised the teachers and said that we have to explain the meaning of freedom to the children and inculcate the spirit of patriotism in them. She appreciated the day and night hard work and dedication of Arshad Nadeem, who raised Pakistan’s flag in the Olympics.
Speaking on this occasion, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sialkot,Anum Babar said that on Independence day we pledge to celebrate independence practically, plant trees, stop the use of plastic and to make Pakistan clean and green.
AC Sialkot asked the female students to actively participate in the beauty of Sialkot by volunteering. Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj, Dean Faculty of Business and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Ilyas, Chairman Physics Department Prof. Dr. Tariq Mehmood, Chairperson Urdu Department Dr. Afzal Butt,Controller Examinations Malik Gulshan Aslam, heads of the all department,faculty,staff, students and children participated in the ceremony.

“Azadi Walk”, Flag hoisting organised at SMIU to celebrate Independence Day

KARACHI, Aug 14 (APP):Sindh Madressatul Islam University, an Alma-e-Mater of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement, celebrated the Independence Day of Pakistan on 14th August with the great enthusiasm, national spirit and patriotic zeal at the campus.
Multiple activities held on the occasion to express love and reverence to the country and its people.  Vice Chancellor SMIU Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai performed flag hoisting and cake cutting ceremony. He also led “Azadi Walk” at the campus. Deans, chairperson of different academic departments, heads of different administrative departments, faculty, teachers of SMIU Model School, officers, other employees and students participated in the Azadi Walk, which culminated at the ground of the university.
Directorate of Students Affairs and Counselling had organised the Independence Day Celebration at the open space of the Main Building of SMIU, where the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah had received his early education. The Vice Chancellor in his address congratulated the entire nation of the 78th Independence Day on behalf of the Alma-Mater of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
In his speech the Vice Chancellor said it will be a great tribute to the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and other leaders of the independence movement that we shall work for the country with honesty and loyalty. He said we need loyalty of every citizen with his/her country, nation, profession, institution, province and the world.
He further said prosperity of the country lies beneath the education and we need reforms and improvement in our primary education. “Quality primary education will produce successful generations that will change destiny of the country and we will come out from difficult economic conditions and thereafter there will be no need of loans from IMF and other world monetary organizations,” the vice chancellor said .
Earlier, Dean of SMIU Dr. Zahid Ali Channar also talked on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai also planted a sapling near the Talpur House of SMIU. The plantation derive was organised by SMIU’s faculty headed by Asif Ali Samo, Assistant Professor, Quratulain Nazeer, Assistant Professor and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor on Academics.

Maximum tree plantation stressed to mitigate climate change

LODHRAN, Aug 14 (APP):Deputy Commissioner, Abdur Rauf Mahr, along with students, inaugurated the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling under the Chief Minister of Punjab’s “Plant a Tree for Pakistan” initiative.
Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a tree plantation campaign has been launched across the province on the joyous occasion of Independence day.
41,000 saplings would be planted in District Lodhran on Independence day under the campaign.
Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rauf Mahr expressed these views while providing details about the “Plant a Tree for Pakistan” campaign.
He emphasized that no campaign could be successful without the participation of citizens.
He urged the public and the private sector to come forward and participate in the tree plantation to make the campaign successful.
He stated that a green and prosperous Pakistan was our goal, and a flourishing Pakistan is the future of our coming generation.
Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rauf Mahr, while speaking on the occasion, said that like the rest of the world, Pakistan was also facing climate change and global warming.
The adverse effects of climate change could be mitigated through tree plantation. He further informed that climate change was affecting the production of crops and orchards, and it is crucial to increase forests in South Punjab to protect agricultural production from the harmful effects of climate change.

Independence Day celebrations ignite waves of patriotism amid fireworks in KP

PESHAWAR, Aug 14 (APP): The Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day was marked by unprecedented wave of patriotic fervor as celebrations lit up the nation with vibrant displays of national pride, impressive flags hoisting ceremonies and spectacular fireworks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Nowshera district, the joys festivities reached a crescendo with an exuberant display of national songs and pyrotechnics. Ibrahim Khan, a student from a private school, was visibly elated after attending the Jashin e Azadi event last night at Nowshera. “The national songs and anthems besides the stunning fireworks were truly impressive,” he shared, referring to the celebrations/firework held at the residence of PML-N KP Information Secretary Ikhtiar Wali where Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar was the chief guest, adding a distinguished touch to the impressive event.

Dressed in traditional national attire, young Ibrahim, a second-grade student, joined in the celebrations with great enthusiasm and national pride. Accompanied by his father, he danced to the rhythms of drums and sang “Dil Dil Pakistan” as the skies above Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were bathed in white and green, reflecting the colors of the Pakistani flag.
The streets and homes across the province were awash in the spirit of independence, with children and families participating in various festivities.

Like other cities and towns of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Peshawar’s all bazaars including Qissa Khwani, Karimpura, Mohalla Jhangi, Meena, Hashtnagri, Liaquat, Faqirabad and others decorated with green and white colours of the national flags, looking festive.

Great enthusiasm is witnessed among youth, who bought national flags, banners, stickers, models of historical buildings and portraits of the heroes of the Independence Movement besides decorated their vehicles with green and white colours.

Balahisar Fort, Governor House, Peshawar Museum, Ghanta Ghar, University Peshawar, Civil Secretariat, Islamia College Peshawar, FC Headquarters, Peshawar Development Authority, State Life and Deans Trade Centre were artistically illuminated with colourful buntings, attracting people’s attention.

National flags were hoisting on all the government buildings in Peshawar where people are celebrating Independence Day in the most befitting manner.

“Since my childhood, I regularly came with my father to paint my face with the national flag by an expert artist at Peshawar to look different on Independence Day,” Samina Bibi, a resident of Wapda Town Nowshera who decorated her face and hands with green and white colours of Pakistani flag at Qissa Khwani Bazar.

Carrying plastic bag with plenty of national flags, stickers, models of Islamia College Peshawar and Minar-e-Pakistan, she was feeling happy after purchasing 400 badges, stickers and posters for brothers, sisters, relatives and school fellows to celebrate the day with great pomp and show.

Wearing a green and white shirt with green badges, Samina said Independence Day enhances the spirit of patriotism, and that she came here with her family to see the flag hoisting ceremony at Peshawar amid the national anthem by police bands.

Asad Khan, a vendor shopkeeper of Pabbi selling decorative items for children including green toys, pressures horns, hats, masks, spectacles, bangles, flags, badges and models of historical buildings of Pakistan Movement at Mohalla Jhangi near Qissa Khwani told APP that he rushed to Peshawar after seeing the overwhelming response of youth and children in the decorative items and Jashin e Azadi stuff on TV.

The energetic shopkeeper who sold out all stock ahead of Independence Day said that his father has brought more stock this morning from Lahore to earn maximum profit here, adding last year he had earned Rs155,000 against Rs220,000 so far during this Jashan-e-Azadi.

The printers, advertisers and graphic designers also made substantial economic gains after completion of printing orders of national flags, posters, advertisements, graphics designing, promotional cards, stickers, badges, billboards, panaflex and souvenirs from government departments, private or­ganizations, education­al institutions and civil society.

The Peshawar based printers, publishers and graphic designers have made roaring business during last two weeks where Jashan-e-Azadi materials were being sold like a hot cake.
Meanwhile, an impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at Governor House Peshawar where KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi hoisted the national flag and national anthem played.

Consul Generals from the United States of America, Iran, and Afghanistan, provincial Assembly member Ahmad Karim Kundi, along with the staff of the Governor’s House and other distinguished guests attended the flag hoisting ceremony.

The Consul Generals joined Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and other attendees in singing of “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long live Pakistan). Following the flag hoisting, special prayer were offered for the country’s prosperity.

Extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire nation on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, the Governor paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan and emphasized the need for peace, prosperity, and development in the province.

In his message on the Independence Day, Governor Kundi congratulated the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged districts, highlighting that Pakistan had been achieved as a result of the great sacrifices and unmatched struggle of our forefathers.
The Governor reaffirmed the commitment to advancing the country on the path of development by strictly adhering to the principles of unity, faith and discipline of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He pledged to fulfill the dreams of Pakistan’s founder and work tirelessly by building a prosperous, peaceful, and strong Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House was opened for general public and families on occasion of the independence day. The Governor intermingled with the people and greetings exchanged.

AIOU Sukkur celebrates I Day with enthusiasm

SUKKUR, Aug 14 (APP):The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Sukkur Region Wednesday celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with great fervor and patriotism.
The campus was adorned with national flags, and a series of events were organized to commemorate this significant occasion.
The day began with a flag-raising ceremony, where the national flag was hoisted by Additional Regional Director Atta Hussain Musvi, in the presence of senior faculty, staff, and students.
This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
In a bid to promote environmental sustainability and beauty, a plantation drive was also initiated, where 300 plants were planted on the campus premises.
This initiative aimed to contribute to a greener and healthier environment.
Speaking the occasion, Musvi said, “We are proud to celebrate our nation’s independence and reaffirm our commitment to its progress and prosperity.”

Tarar grieved over demise of senior journalist Akhlaq Bajwa

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP):Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of senior journalist Akhlaq Ahmed Bajwa.
 The minister expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family of the deceased.
 “Late Akhlaq Ahmad Bajwa rendered valuable services in the field of journalism,” he said adding the vacuum created in  journalism due to his death cannot be filled.
Attaullah Tarar said, “The journalistic services of the deceased will always be remembered.”
He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude.

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 14 (APP):On the occasion of Independence Day, Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar visited the Central Jail Bahawalpur along with Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa.
Deputy Speaker distributed sweets among the inmates of Central Jail Bahawalpur. A volleyball match was played between the inmates of Central Jail Bahawalpur in celebration of Independence Day. The Deputy Speaker awarded prizes to the winning team of the volleyball match.
On this Independence Day, Deputy Speaker urged the prisoners to become good citizens and to value freedom. Superintendent of Central Jail Imtiaz Ahmed Malik, Deputy Superintendent Jail Rizwan Saeed Gujjar, and Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Saddar Ahmad Sher Gondal were also present on the occasion.
