RPO hold open court to address public grievances

RAWALPINDI, Aug 19 (APP):Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region, Babar Sarfraz Alpa on Monday held an open court to address public grievances at the regional office.

According to police spokesman, police is conducting open court regularly as part of the Punjab government’s open door policy.

During the open court, several residents including Parvez Khan, Maryam Naseer, Muhammad Siddique, and Tahira Bibi from Rawalpindi district while Nasreen Begum from Chakwal district, Muhammad Ismail from Hassan Abdal, Attock, and Sardar Ali from Jalal Pur, District Jhelum submitted their applications for redressal.
RPO Alpa listened complaints of citizens individually.

Following a thorough review and prompt action, RPO directed the issues must be addressed in a timely manner based on merits.

RPO Alpa emphasized that open courts are held daily to ensure citizens’ complaints are resolved efficiently.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of policing in the region.

PFF announces provincial football elections schedule

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalization Committee has announced the schedule for the forthcoming provincial elections, which will take place from September 16 to 18.

The election process will begin with the publication of the preliminary voting list on August 27, 2024.

Participating candidates must submit their nomination papers by August 30, said a press release.

The preliminary candidate list will be published on September 3.

An appeal window will be available from September 4 to 8, allowing candidates to raise concerns or challenges. After considering any appeal, the final list of candidates will be published on September 11.

Haroon Malik, the Chairman of the Pakistan Football Federation’s Normalization Committee, emphasized the commitment to conducting the provincial elections with transparency and integrity.

He said, “Our priority is to ensure that the election process is not only fair but also seen as fair by all stakeholders involved.

The PFF NC remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the principles of good governance and this election is a crucial step in that direction.”

FESCO issues shutdown program

FAISALABAD, Aug 19 (APP):Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has issued a shutdown program for Tuesday due to necessary repair, maintenance and expansion of electricity lines.
According to the program issued by the company, power supply from Gugera, Buchiana Road, Waseer and Barala feeders linked with 132-KV Jaranwala grid station will remain suspended from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. while Chak No.208-RB Road, Mobilink and Zia Town feeders attached with 132-KV SPS grid station, Model City feeder connected with 132-KV Old Thermal grid station and Best Export feeder originating from 66-KV Old Thermal grid station will observe shutdown from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday (August 20).
Similarly, electricity supply from Theraj Shaheed, Nawab Sher Waseer, Bucheki Road, Islam Pura and Lahore Road feeders linked with 132-KV Jaranwala grid station, Rasheed Abad feeder attached with 132-KV University grid station, CTM, Usman Town, 7-JB, Sargodha Spinning, Dawood, Stara, Rasheed Usman, FDA City, Abu Bakar, Samana, University Town, Millat Town, Rasool Pur, Jaguar, Kalash, Zafar Fabrics and Ali Town feeders connected with 132-KV Chiniot Road grid station, Bahmani Wala, Sumaira Fabrics, Global and Shahkot Road feeders originating from 132-KV Value Addition City grid station and Kanwanwala feeder linked with 132-KV Lalian grid station will remain suspended from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. whereas new Chenab Nagar, new Factory Area, Pathan Kot and new Ahmad Nagar feeders attachwed with 132-KV Chenab Nagar grid station, new Awagat, Canal Road, Katchery Road, Ali Pur Bungalow, College Road, Aslam Textile, Buchiana, al-Habib and Ashiq Ali Shaheed feeders connected with 132-KV Jaranwala grid station will observe load shedding from 6 a.m. to 12 noon on August 20.
Meanwhile, power supply from Sargodha Cloth and Usman Block feeders originating from 132-KV Chiniot Road grid station will also remain suspended from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday (August 20, 2024).

SNGPL cuts off another 34 meters on gas theft

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) cut off another 34 connections, during its ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, imposing Rs 0.6 million fines.
According to a spokesman for the SNGPL, in Lahore and Gujranwala, the regional teams severed 9 connections of gas pilferers while 18 connections were disconnected in Bahawalpur and Multan.
In Sheikhupran and Faisalabad, 2 connections were removed and 5 in Mardan on account of direct use of gas and illegal use of gas with imposing heavy fines.

Bangladesh coach confident ahead of first test against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha expressed his team’s readiness for the upcoming first Test against Pakistan, beginning on Wednesday at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi.
“We are prepared for whatever challenge Pakistan throws at us,” Hathurusingha said during a media briefing. “The Pindi pitch appears favorable for both fast bowling and batting. Considering Pakistan’s selection, we have also developed a strong contingent of fast bowlers.”
Hathurusingha highlighted the team’s strategic decisions, including the inclusion of all-rounders Shikab ul Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraj, who can spin. “We expected Pakistan’s wickets to be different from Bangladesh and selected spinners based on merit, not just conditions.”
The coach expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their support, allowing Bangladesh’s A-team to play in Lahore and providing excellent facilities. “We are pleased with our preparations and look forward to the challenge.”
Hathurusingha also shared his thoughts on the recent protests in Bangladesh, offering condolences to affected families and hoping for a swift resolution.
Regarding his own position, Hathurusingha stated, “I’m committed to serving my contract, but if the board decides to make changes, I’m open to adapting.”
The coach acknowledged concerns about Bangladesh’s batting but remained optimistic, citing the potential for better batting conditions in Pakistan.
He praised Shakib’s improved fitness and form, as well as the team’s young and promising fast bowlers.
Hathurusingha also commended Mushtaq Ahmed, the addition to the Bangladesh coaching group, bringing valuable global experience and knowledge to the team.
Meanwhile, both Pakistan and Bangladesh teams participated in training sessions at the Pindi Stadium.
