ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (APP): The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bearish trend on Tuesday, losing 931.98 points, a negative change of 1.48 percent, closing at 61,841.74 points against 62,773.72 points the previous trading day.
A total of 436,120,659 shares valuing Rs 15.286 billion were traded during the day as compared to 317,577,239 shares valuing Rs.10.693 billion the last day.
Some 346 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 76 of them recorded gains and 249 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 21 remained unchanged.
The three top-trading companies were K-Electric Limited with 52,895,427 shares at Rs.4.65 per share, WorldCall Telecom with 29,219,100 shares at Rs.1.23 per share and Hascol Petrol with 24,692,000 shares at Rs.7.91 per share.
Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.400.00 per share price, closing at Rs.9,200.00, whereas the runner-up was Bata Pakistan Limited with a Rs.20.00 rise in its per share price to Rs.1,760.00.
Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs.1,687.50 per share closing at Rs.20,812.50, followed by Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited with Rs.109.27 decline to close at Rs.1,444.33.
ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick has said that the active involvement of youth in innovation, investment and the overall economy was crucial for driving progress of the country.
She was addressing Future-Fest 2024, an innovation Expo in Lahore. The SAPM was accompanied by Focal Person to SAPM Sabien Hussein Mullick and Advisor to SAPM on Communication Waqas Banorie, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
At the Expo, a mix of entrepreneurs and exhibitors displayed a wide variety of innovative ideas spanning different industries and services.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick was apprised about Future-Fest achievements of $200 million direct investment which resulted in 30, 000 direct jobs and the organization of innovation road show. She said that Future-Fest had achieved commendable milestones. She noted that Future-Fest’s efforts to secure over $200 million in direct investment would be a boost in developing cutting-edge technologies, startups and projects across various industries in the country. She appreciated the innovation road show organized by Future-Fest which brought together entrepreneurs, cutting-edge startups, industry leaders, and technology enthusiasts from 40 cities and 80 universities.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick was also apprised about His Royal Highness, Prince Fahad bin Mansour’s extraordinary contribution to the technological landscape of Pakistan. She said that the Prince’s announcement of investment of $100 million for the establishment of a tech house marked a significant milestone in the promotion of innovation and economic development in our country.
The Special Assistant said that the role of youth in technological innovation and overall economic progress could not be overstated. She underscored the role of Innovative technology in propelling the progress of nation. She said that a tech-savvy workforce was essential for the country’s position in the rapidly evolving global economy. She praised the Future-Fest for recognizing and harnessing the potential of the younger generation.
She lauded Future-Fest’s commitment to providing free online IT training to one million youth. She said that the initiative would not only empower the youth with valuable skills but would also contribute significantly to the overall technological advancement of the country.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick visited different stalls, conversed with the innovators and entrepreneurs, and witnessed the innovative ideas and technological products showcased in the Expo. She also extended her appreciation to Future-Fest for organizing the Expo which inspired creativity, promoted collaboration and was a beckon towards a brighter, more innovative future of the country.
KARACHI, Jan 30 (APP): President Dr. Arif Alvi on Tuesday underscored the significance of mass awareness about special requirements of persons with different abilities and equipping them with education and living skills for their meaningful integration into society.
He was speaking during the visit of the Society for Children in Need of Special Assistance (SCINOSA) Day Home – an institute for individuals with Down syndrome and other mental challenges – along with the First Lady Samina Arif Alvi.
The president emphasized that children with different abilities, were part of the society and equipping them with living skills could enable them to lead a meaningful life and perform daily chores at their own.
He also stressed the need for creating special employment opportunities for differently-abled persons in accordance with their capabilities and teaching them the specific skills, required for those jobs.
“Approach towards children with different abilities has been changing across the globe with the emphasis on their enrollment in routine schools and we in Pakistan as well need to step forward and work together for breaking the taboos and social stigma, attached to mental and physical challanges,” he noted.
Federal and Sindh governments have made laudable progress in that regard by reserving special quota for differently-abled persons in public sector jobs while the banking sector was also inducting special persons, Dr. Alvi said adding that Governor SBP and heads of different banks had also assured of additional steps in that regard in a recent meeting on inclusion and empowerment of special persons and women.
The president said that mass awareness might play a key role in changing social perceptions and conduct and that was witnessed during the special campaign on breast cancer. The awareness initiatives including text and voice messages on symptoms and prevention reached millions of people across the country, that led to saving hundreds of lives, he added.
Dr. Arif Alvi specially mentioned the efforts of First Lady Samina Arif Alvi for raising mass awareness regarding breast cancer and differently-abled children and said that now she was working on mental health issues.
The president also appreciated SCINOSA for providing special care and training to differently-abled children and teaching them basic life skills.
Honorary secretary SCINOSA Zulfiqar Ali Ramzi, speaking on the occasion, said that realizing the fact that with special care and awareness children with different abilities, could lead their lives and added SCINOSA Day Home was imparting all necessary skills to them.
Principal SDH, Rizwana Khanum briefed that major objective of the Society was to establish a platform for teaching and training of children with different types of difficulties, to help them become self-sufficient and value-adding members.
Earlier, President Dr. Arif Alvi, visited different parts of the institute to inspect facilities for the education and training of differently-abled children and interacted with the special students who were busy at work either in learning classes, vocational activities or sports.
President Dr. Arif Alvi, also planted a sapling at SCINOSA Day Home on the occasion.
