Dengue prevention efforts intensified

SARGODHA, Aug 21 (APP):Additional Deputy Commissioner General Umar Farooq directed departments concerned to intensify dengue surveillance activities during the monsoon season.
Addressing the District Emergency Response Committee meeting to discuss dengue prevention on Wednesday, he emphasized the importance of effective coordination among relevant officers at the district and tehsil levels.
He highlighted that the next two months were crucial for dengue mosquito breeding and ordered the departments to monitor the dengue surveillance.
Hotspot areas should be monitored regularly and all potential breeding sites should be
cleared completely.
CEO Health Dr Asad Aslam and officials from other relevant departments were also present.

Shipping Activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, Aug 21 (APP):Shipping activity was report at the port where four ships, MSC Positano, Agios Dimitrios, Horizon-I and Madison Eagle carrying Container, LPG and Coal, berthed at Container Terminals, Engro Terminal and Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile three more ships, Gaschem Mosel, Epic Burano and New Apex are also arrived at outer-anchorage of the Port Qasim on today morning.
A total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a petroleum product carrier ship‘Two million Ways’ left the port on today morning while four more ships, Navig-8 Gallantry, Suzy, Agios Dimitrios and Horizon-I are expected to sail on today.
Cargo volume of 148,789 tonnes, comprising 103,962 tonnes imports cargo and 44,827 tonnes export cargo carried in 5,258 Containers (2,258 TEUs Imports& 2,338 TEUs Export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 08 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them five ships, Bitumen Kosei, Antares, Navig-8 Constellation, Epic Burano and New Apex & two more ships, CMA CGM Pelleas and Maersk Cairo scheduled to load/offload Bitumen, Palm oil, ULSD, LPG, LNG and Container are expected to take berths at MW-2, LCT, FOTCO, EVTL, EETL and QICT respectively on today, Meanwhile two more Container ships, X-Press Anglesey and Tolen are due to arrive at port on Thursday.

Mohsin Naqvi pays homage to Martyrs on International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has paid tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their today for ours peaceful tomorrow in connection with the observance of International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.

In a message issued here, he said the nation cannot repay the great sacrifices of the martyrs who laid their lives in the war against terrorism, but we will try to repay the debt by eliminating all of the terrorists.

Interior Minister praised the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war against terrorism, calling them the benefactors of the nation.

He noted that every segment of Pakistani society has made sacrifices in this war.

He said that the Pakistan Army, police, and law enforcement agencies have given their blood for the establishment of peace in the country.

He emphasized that there’s no parallel of Pakistan’s unwavering sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

Mohsin Naqvi pointed out that Pakistan is the country most affected by terrorism, with thousands of people martyred and injured in the war against terrorism.

He assured that the government and nation stand with the brave families of the martyrs and pay tribute to them in splendid words.

He reiterated that the entire nation expresses complete solidarity with the victims of terrorism.

He added that the Pakistani nation has faced the menace of terrorism with unwavering determination and courage.

The Interior Minister vowed that we will not rest until the eradication of the scourge of terrorism, and nation’s tomorrow will be more peaceful and secure.

Five arrested, 10 cases for overpricing

LAHORE, Aug 21 (APP):The price control magistrates conducted inspections at 1,555 locations, leading to the arrest of five
individuals for overpricing fruits, vegetables, and other essential items.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza told media on Wednesday that 10 cases had been registered  for the violations of government-set prices while a fine of Rs 500,000 had also been imposed on 89 violators.
The DC said magistrates were actively ensuring adherence to official rates. Supervision of the auction process in fruit and vegetable markets was also underway to prevent any malpractices.
The administrative officers are ensuring the sale of fruits, vegetables, and bread at government-approved prices. All stalls and shops are being instructed to prominently display the rate list, and strict action is being taken against those failing to comply.
The assistant commissioners are conducting surprise inspections and overseeing dengue teams to ensure larvae removal and compliance.

Soomro urges Pakistan embassy to ensure medical treatment for victims of Iran incident

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP):Political Advisor to the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jameel Soomro Wednesday urged the Pakistani Embassy in Iran to ensure proper medical treatment for those injured in the bus accident and to facilitate the transfer of the deceased.
On the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Jameel Soomro contacted the Pakistani Embassy in Iran to gather details about the tragic incident near the Dehshir Taftan checkpoint, which involved pilgrims from Larkana.
Jameel Soomro urged the embassy officials to take all necessary steps to support the affected families during this difficult time. The embassy officials briefed him on the status of the victims from Larkana.
During the conversation, Jameel Soomro conveyed Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s deep concern regarding the incident to the Pakistani Embassy.
