Wheel jam strike of four alliance failed: Achakzai

QUETTA, Feb 18 (APP):Caretaker Provincial Information Minister Balochistan Jan Achakzai on Sunday said that the wheel jam strike of the alliance of 4 parties has failed.
  ” All major highways are open. Traffic is light on some national highways due to Sunday”, he said in a statement issued here.
He deplored that Sardars and Nawabs of Balochistan are punishing the common people to reject the 2024 elections.
He said that the alliance should not harm the welfare of the state and people but should resort to legal forums. The people of Balochistan have rejected ethnic nationalism, CM further maintained.

Four outlaws held; narcotics, stolen items recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 18 (APP):The Dera police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four outlaws who recovered drugs, weapons, and stolen items from their possession during different operations.
According to a police spokesman, the Dera police, following the directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani, tightened a noose around criminal elements and made all-out efforts to ensure a crime-free society.
As a part of such efforts, a team of Cantt police station led by SDPO City Muhammad Adnan along with SHO Gulsher Khan conducted a successful operation and busted a gang of bikers and rounded up their two members, namely Akram and Ikram.
The police also recovered five motorcycles and Rs 3.7 million in cash from their possession.
Similarly, a team of Daraban police station led by SDPO Daraban Circle Malik Anees ul Hasan along with SHO Abdul Ghaffar Khan arrested an accused, namely Azad Khan, son of Abdul Raheem, and recovered 1020 grams of hashish and a stolen motorcycle from his possession.
Meanwhile, the Gomal University Police station team, during a search operation, arrested the accused, namely Ahmad Khan, and recovered six stolen ‘Iron-Garder’ and a rifle, along with 14 cartridges, from his house.
The separate cases were registered against the arrested accused.

Saidpur scheme residents ask SNGPL to complete work of dug streets

RAWALPINDI, Feb 18 (APP):The residents of the Saidpur Scheme, New Phagwari called upon the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials to to pick up the solid waste and cement the streets at the earliest as it had become impossible for the residents to move in the street.
Talking to APP, Abdul Rehman Rajpoot a resident of the area said that the streets of Saidpur Scheme no 2  had turned into a muddy mess after recent rains. He said that the area had become a permanent source of inconvenience for the residents and especially for the students and visitors of the Government College of Commerce.
He stated that the SNGPL had dug the streets for laying gas pipelines around two months ago and after laying pipes the contractor left the area without concreting which added misery to the public life.
Another resident Abdul Samee said that due to the dilapidated condition, the motorists, students, women, and children had to face hardships while passing through the streets, adding “We can not go to Masjid for offering prayer.”

Agriculture Promotion: IPM training being imparted to agri-officials

MULTAN, Feb 18 (APP):The agriculture department decided to provide integrated pest management (IPM) training to staffers of the ‘Extension and Pest Warning Departments’.
According to official sources, “IPM is considered one of the best models for agriculture promotion as it not only enhances production but also reduces input expenses. The South Punjab Secretariat issued a training schedule.”
Deputy Director (DD) of Technical Dr Haider Karar will impart training to staffers.
The training will be held in 11 districts of south Punjab, including Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Layyah, Lodhran, Multan, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Vehari, and Khanewal.
The training will commence on February 19, and one day will be specific for staff of the relevant district.
The staffers of each district join the training on their training day at their respective district headquarters.

Oil tanker catches fire

SIALKOT, Feb 18 (APP):A fire broke out in an oil tanker on Jamkay-Silver Star Road late last night.
Rescue 1122 took timely action and controlled the fire and saved the nearby population.
According to a rescue spokesperson, District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Naveed Iqbal commanded the operation. Six fire vehicles of rescue participated in the operation.
According to the driver, the fire had started due to short circuit.
There was about 15,000 liters of diesel in the tanker, said rescue officials.

Two arrested with fireworks

SIALKOT, Feb 18 (APP):Sialkot police arrested two accused and recovered fireworks in a large quantity.
According to a police spokesperson, Larakki police recovered 900 boxes of firecrackers from Shabbir and 400 boxes of firecrackers from Muhammad Jameel at Allo Mahar.

72 power pilferers netted across the MEPCO region

MULTAN, Feb 18 (APP):Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) teams have raided and caught 72 more power pilferers in a day during ongoing operations across the region.
The task force teams have raided various places and registered 27 new cases against power pilferers and two caught with red-handed.
Over Rs 3.6 million fine was imposed on power pilferers.

Pakistan Army providing quality treatment facilities to people of KP

PESHAWAR, Feb 18 (APP):Pakistan Army has played a significant role in the provision of quality treatment facilities to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after completing scores of hospital projects in different districts of the province.
Following a long wave of terrorism, the Pakistan Army has taken practical measures for the reconstruction of many hospitals besides improved facilities in the health sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a security official told APP.
He said that the reconstructed hospitals include Alizai Kurrum hospital, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Mir Ali, Razmak Hospital Bazar Zakakhel Khyber, Mamound hospital Bajaur, Toikhola hospital South Waziristan, Darazanda hospital DI Khan and a 40-bed hospital at Dogar Kurrum comprising 9 male and two female doctors besides nine nurses.
He underlined that the Pakistan Army has also established 150-bed Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Ghaleejo in 2018 equipped with the latest equipment,12 flats and eight houses for medical staff besides a new medical centre at Parachinar.
He stated that a hospital with 8 OPDs, a CRP counter, a dental unit, an emergency ward, a radiology centre, an IPD ward and treatment facilities for road accidents was setup at Mashti Mela in Orakzai
 He said that besides the establishment of DHQ Hospital Mamadgut and common health centre Khudakhel in Mohmand and Sheikh Fatima Hospital for people of Sholum South Waziristan, the Pakistan Army has introduced Smart OPD at CMH Peshawar with easy access to doctors.

Caretaker CM Balochistan pays surprise visit to city

QUETTA, Feb 18 (APP):Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki paid a surprise visit to Quetta city on Sunday and reviewed the business activities in important business centres.
He passed through Meezan Chowk, Liaquat Bazar, Prince Road, Jinnah Road, Manan Chowk where business life was going on and markets were open against the shutter-down call given by the four-party alliance.
Expressing his pleasure over the business community’s response to the protest call he said, “It is a welcome thing,  that markets are open”.
He highlighted that people and business professionals will not be used for any individual interests. It is our constitutional responsibility to give peace to the business class and people, he stressed.
Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki was accompanied by Caretaker Interior Minister Mir Zubair Khan Jamali, Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafqaat, and Additional IG Police Balochistan Jawad Dogar.
Chief Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki was briefed by the Caretaker Interior Minister, Commissioner Quetta and Additional IG Police Balochistan on the overall situation of law and order and the measures taken to restore peace, on which the Caretaker Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction.
