Kashmir firmly back on attention of  international community: Sardar Masood

Kashmir - South Asia
ISLAMABAD, Jul 15 (APP):“Kashmir is once again at the centre of international attention—and this time, the global community is more aware than ever of India’s duplicity and Pakistan’s principled stance,” stated Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan, Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan’s former envoy to the United States, China, and the United Nations.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Ambassador Khan said that India has historically sought to bury the Kashmir dispute through a pattern of bilateral overtures followed by unilateral aggression, the world is no longer willing to look away.
He highlighted the comprehensive assessment of Pakistan’s foreign policy trajectory, regional security challenges, and the enduring significance of Kashmir in Pakistan’s strategic outlook.
He emphasized that while India has historically sought to bury the Kashmir dispute through a pattern of bilateral overtures followed by unilateral aggression, the world is no longer willing to look away. “After India’s illegal annexation of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, there was a temporary dip in its visibility. But President Trump’s recent interventions have reignited the global debate. Kashmir is firmly back on the international radar—despite India’s consternation.”
He warned that India’s playbook—from insisting on bilateralism to erasing commitments—is well-known and has failed. “The bilateral approach has been exposed as a mirage. It’s time for the global community to recognize that international mechanisms must now play a role in resolving Kashmir.”
Khan rejected claims that Pakistan has backed away from the issue. “Pakistan’s resolve remains firm. But for any sustainable diplomatic initiative to succeed, Pakistan must speak from a position of strength—economically, politically, and strategically. That is the new challenge and the new opportunity.”
He was sharply critical of Indian disinformation campaigns, particularly its baseless claims that Pakistan is developing intercontinental ballistic missiles to threaten the United States. “This is a desperate attempt to sabotage improving Pak-US ties. India itself is developing the Agni-VI with a range of up to 16,000 km—capable of striking continental US mainland. Their hypocrisy is evident, and Washington is taking note.”
Ambassador Khan affirmed that US-Pakistan relations are witnessing a revival. “This is the most serious and strategic engagement ” he noted, referring to President Trump’s praise for Field Marshal General Asim Munir and new cooperative areas including cryptocurrency, renewables, extractive industries, and emerging technologies.
He explained that the momentum in Pakistan-US relations does not come at the expense of China. “Our alliance with China remains our economic and defense lifeline. But we are equally capable of deepening ties with the United States. China has consistently advised us to maintain a balanced approach and reduce tensions with Washington. We are not choosing sides—we are asserting our national interests.”
On the issue of water security, Khan condemned India’s illegal efforts to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. “This is not just a legal dispute—it is a matter of survival for Pakistan. India’s actions violate international law and the treaty’s binding framework. Pakistan could raise the matter at the UN Security Council and engage with China as an upper riparian state. We will not compromise on our water rights.”
Addressing the possibility of renewed conflict, Khan warned that the current climate is dangerous. “The BJP’s electoral setbacks, rising domestic tensions, and aggressive rhetoric have created a volatile environment. A single non-state incident could trigger a nuclear confrontation. Strategic opacity must be our defense—we should not telegraph our thresholds or responses.”
In reflecting on Pakistan’s diplomatic history, he highlighted the achievements of the 1950s when Pakistan’s leaders firmly placed Kashmir on the UN agenda. “Despite being a young and fragile state, we carved out a significant global space. We must now summon that same clarity and confidence.”
Ambassador Khan concluded with a broader message: “Pakistan is entering a new phase of diplomatic rebalancing. We are no longer isolated. From Washington to Beijing, and Riyadh to Moscow, our responsible leadership is being recognized. India’s campaign of distortion and dissimulation is unravelling. The future belongs to nations that act with purpose, maturity, and vision—and Pakistan is ready to lead.

PTI’s Aug 5 call will damage Kashmir cause, Ikhtiar Wali

0
ISLAMABAD, Jul 15 (APP):Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information, Broadcasting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Affairs, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, on Tuesday strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over its decision to stage political activities on August 5, calling it a damage to the Kashmir cause and also a move that aligned with India’s narrative.
Addressing a press conference at the PTV Headquarters, Wali said, “August 5 is a black day when, in 2019, India revoked the special status of Indian-occupied Kashmir and intensified its oppression of the Kashmiri people.”
“Selecting this day for political activities is tantamount to inflaming the pain of Kashmiris,” he added.
He further alleged that PTI founder Imran Khan’s decision to politicize this date was intended to amplify India’s propaganda.
“This is not a political movement; it’s a tactic of national betrayal. On this day, when the entire nation stands with Kashmir, they will show their support to the enemy,” he stated.
“It’s unfortunate that Imran Khan’s statements seem more in line with New Delhi’s narrative than Pakistan’s,” he added.
Wali asserted that the party’s politics were confined to the boundaries of Bani Gala, lacking any vision for public service.
Citing the latest Gallup survey, he revealed that the province has the highest corruption levels in the country.
“Jobs are being sold in KP and public development funds are vanishing into corruption,” he said.
He further criticized the provincial administration for failing to deliver even basic infrastructure in 13 years.
“No new hospitals, schools, or basic health centers have been established. If sports grounds, youth centers, or educational institutions do exist, then where are they? Because the people surely can’t see them,” he remarked.
Ikhtiar Wali commended the federal government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Punjab administration led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for their rapid progress in health, education, and infrastructure—especially transport projects—across Punjab. He contrasted this with the PTI’s apparent lack of dedication to development initiatives.
He also said that, like other prisoners, the PTI founder was treated according to rule and law.
Wali emphasized that the nation will stand with Kashmir on August 5 rather than the party upholding the enemy’s agenda.

PESHAWAR, Jul 15 (APP):In a major setback for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTIP), Pervez Khattak has resigned as the party chairman.
According to his resignation letter, Khattak stated that due to serious health conditions, he could no longer continue fulfilling the responsibilities of party chairman.
Meanwhile, PTIP has officially confirmed that former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, has been appointed as the new chairman, replacing Pervez Khattak.
In a significant statement released to the media, PTIP General Secretary Malik Habib Noor Orakzai clarified that Pervez Khattak no longer holds any position or affiliation with the party.
He emphasized that any reports or social media posts linking Khattak with PTIP are completely baseless and misleading.
“The leadership of PTIP is now firmly under Chairman Mahmood Khan,” Orakzai stated. “There is no connection whatsoever between Pervez Khattak and the party anymore. All decisions are being made in consultation with Mahmood Khan, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He urged the media, party workers, and the public to rely only on official statements issued by PTIP and to refrain from spreading or believing in unfounded rumors.
He added that the party continues its strategic discussions regarding future political plans under the new leadership, aiming for a unified and clear direction ahead of the electoral process.
