Martyred policeman laid to rest with full official honor in Tank

TANK, Nov 10 (APP):The funeral prayers of Head Constable Shah Nawaz, who embraced martyrdom in firing, were offered here at the police lines and was laid to rest with full official honour.
According to police, the late Shah Nawaz was offering evening prayers at village Muhammad Akbar on Sunday when unidentified terrorists opened fire on him and left him martyred.
 District Police Officer Shabbir Hussain Shah, Deputy Commissioner Tanvir Ahmed, officers from security forces, DSP City Parvez Shah, and a large number of police officials and personnel attended the funeral ceremony.
A smartly turned-out contingent of police presented a salute while the police officers laid floral wreaths on the martyr’s coffin and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter as well as for the peace, prosperity, and security of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, senior officers paid glowing tributes to the courage, honesty, and devotion of Head Constable Shah Nawaz, declaring him a symbol of bravery and commitment.
They reiterated their resolve that the sacrifices of police martyrs will never be forgotten, and that operations against anti-peace elements will continue with renewed determination.
They further said  that all available resources would be utilized to ensure the protection of citizens and the maintenance of lasting peace in the district.

President condoles death of educationist, intellectual Dr Arifa Zahra

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday expressed deep grief over the death of renowned educationist, intellectual, and literary figure Dr. Arifa Syeda Zahra.

The president, in a statement, said that the passing of Dr. Arifa Zahra was an irreparable loss for Pakistan’s academic and literary circles, as she set an example by dedicating her life to knowledge, research, and service to humanity.

“The deceased’s scholarly services and efforts for the promotion of the national language will always be remembered,” he remarked.

President Zardari prayed for peace for the departed soul and conveyed condolences to the family, students, and academic community.

Government’s cashless economy initiatives to ensure sustainable growth: PM

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday emphasized that the ongoing initiatives to transform the country into a cashless economy will play a vital role in ensuring sustainable development.

Chairing a meeting to review progress on these initiatives, the prime minister directed the relevant authorities to intensify awareness campaigns in rural areas to eliminate the traditional cash-based economy and accelerate the shift towards a fully digital financial system.

“The entire world is moving towards a digital economy, and Pakistan must move forward alongside it,” the prime minister said. He noted that from the very beginning, his government had prioritized measures to promote digitalization, which were now yielding positive results.

He mentioned that for the first time, during the holy month of Ramazan, the government successfully transferred financial assistance to deserving families under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) through digital wallets.

The prime minister underscored that a cashless economy would improve governance and significantly curb corruption. He instructed all relevant departments to achieve the set targets within the stipulated timeframe.

PM Shehbaz Sharif commended the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of IT, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), State Bank of Pakistan, and other concerned institutions for their satisfactory progress in implementing the cashless economy roadmap.

The meeting was briefed on the progress of various initiatives under the Prime Minister’s vision of a cashless economy. It was informed that payments for electricity and gas bills were now being facilitated through RAAST QR codes, enabling billions of rupees in transactions to be conducted digitally.

Meanwhile the prime minister was also informed about the progress on the 10 million digital wallets under BISP. “All wallets will be activated by the end of current month and the next tranche will be transferred to the deserving families through these wallets,” the meeting was told.

It was further informed that the mobile apps that were created for getting the government services in Islamabad will be linked with RAAST system. Furthermore, acquiring licenses for new businesses has also been linked with the system of digital payments, and the facility of payment through QR codes has also been provided at all the shops.

The government is also issuing licenses for setting up digital banks across the country. “Under these measures, financial inclusion of over 68% population of country has been completed so far, whereas more will be done by next year”.

The prime minister directed that the scope of financial inclusion should be further enhanced.

The meeting was also briefed regarding the next year’s targets.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Governor SBP Jameel Ahmed, Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Lt. Gen Muhammad Munir, Chairman FBR Rashid Langrial and other relevant officers.

Haroon ur Rasheed assumes charge as new DPO Abbottabad, vows to strengthen rule of law

ABBOTTABAD, Nov 10 (APP):The newly appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad, Haroon ur Rasheed, has officially assumed charge of his office. Upon his arrival at the DPO Office, he was warmly welcomed by SSP Traffic Warden Qamar Hayat Khan, SP Havelian Division Muhammad Ishtiaq, and SP Cantt Division Raja Mehboob.
After assuming charge, DPO Haroon ur Rasheed visited the Police Shuhada (Martyrs) Memorial, where he laid floral wreaths and offered prayers for the departed souls of the martyrs. On this occasion, a smartly turned-out contingent of Abbottabad Police presented him with a guard of honor.
Speaking to officers and media representatives, DPO Haroon ur Rasheed reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the mutual trust between police and the public, ensuring the supremacy of law, and intensifying efforts to curb criminal activities in the district.
He emphasized that Abbottabad Police would continue to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication to public service, maintaining its tradition of protecting lives and property with integrity and devotion.

NPO to organize webinar on ‘Root Cause Analysis’

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP):The National Productivity Organization (NPO) is going to organize a webinar on “Root Cause Analysis” (RCA) on November 12 (Wednesday).
The workshop will provide information about the five steps to RCA with corrective action, root cause and its analysis, principles of RCA,  three basic causes of non-conformance, ISO requirements about RCA and why RCA is Important, said NPO document shared here on Monday.
The learning outcomes include what is RCA and why is it important in solving problems, recognize common barriers to root cause analysis and apply techniques to overcome those barriers.

Pakistan Army reconstructs, renovates biggest Jamia Masjid of Bajaur

PESHAWAR, Nov 10 (APP):The Pakistan Army has admirably completed the reconstruction and renovation of the largest Jamia Masjid in Suleman Khel area of district Bajaur, where local residents have expressed deep gratitude for this initiative.
 According to security sources on Monday, the Jamia Mosque, a historic and central place of worship in Suleman Khel, had been destroyed by terrorists.
The Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took the responsibility of rebuilding and restoring the mosque to its former glory.
 During the renovation, new carpets, inverters, fans and a solar power system were installed.
All necessary facilities have now been made fully operational, ensuring comfort and convenience for worshippers.
 Local residents expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s efforts, noting that the mosque holds great historical and spiritual significance for the area.
 They stated that the attack by extremists had caused severe damage to the structure, including the solar system, doors and windows.
“Thanks to the Pakistan Army’s timely intervention, the mosque has been beautifully restored and reopened for the community”, they said.
 The people of Bajaur also praised the Pakistan Army’s continued dedication to peace, reconstruction and the well-being of the local population.

Man killed in road collision

NOWSHERA VIRKAN, Nov 10 (APP):A man here on Monday died in a road collision on Krial road near Moza Dhon.
The rescue source said a man identified as Muhammad Shafiq was killed on the spot as a motorbike collided with the donkey-cart .
The victim was the father of three girls, they added.
The police have registered a case.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi expresses confidence in PML-N’s victory during Haripur by-election

HARIPUR, Nov 10 (APP):Former Federal Minister and Provincial General Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that the people of Haripur have always trusted the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N) due to its unmatched record of public service and development.
 He expressed full confidence that PML-N candidate Babar Nawaz Khan will win the NA-18 Haripur by-election with a clear majority.
He was addressing a corner meeting held at the residence of Chaudhry Bashir in Village Council Barkot (Kambal Bala) as part of the by-election campaign.
 The meeting was attended by local elders and party workers, where strategies were discussed to make the election campaign more effective and to further strengthen public contact in every village and neighborhood.
Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that PML-N has always prioritized development, education, health, and infrastructure projects in Haripur, and the people still remember the service-oriented politics of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif. “Our politics is based on performance, not empty slogans.
