“Poor solid waste management and traffic congestion in the city, which have led to a decline in business activity and growing public frustration, “they highlighted.
Speaking to the participants, Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar acknowledged the gravity of traffic and sanitation issues plaguing the city. He reiterated that the implementation of no-parking zones is a decision taken by the provincial cabinet and cannot be reversed without a viable alternative system in place. “There will be no compromise on no-parking zones,” he asserted, emphasizing that these measures are essential for traffic flow and urban order, especially in key business districts.
However, he assured traders that all issues will be considered with thorough consultation, and collaborative solutions will be explored. “Quetta is facing serious challenges related to traffic, waste disposal, and drainage. These problems require immediate and collective action,” he said.
The Commissioner further stated that practical steps will be taken to address the waste disposal problem. Vendors will be required to contribute to garbage collection efforts, and dedicated disposal systems will be introduced to ensure cleaner surroundings.
The administration also plans to review the capacity and management of private parking facilities to determine their effectiveness and availability. “We will explore alternative parking arrangements for both shopkeepers and customers in commercial areas,” Kakar noted.
He added that specific instructions will be issued to Safa Quetta, to manage waste dumps on Double Road and Mecongi Road.
Commissioner Kakar highlighted the critical role of the trader community in supporting administrative efforts. “Quetta belongs to all of us. We must come together to improve and beautify our city.
