Pakistan growing despite ‘costly’ war on terrorism: Dar

ISLAMABAD, May 3 (APP): Pakistan has been beleaguered by
terrorism and security “challenges” but was still managing to
focus on growth and job creation, Finance Minister Senator
Mohammad Ishaq Dar told CNBC international.

“Pakistan’s economy has shown great resilience against
the global trend of developing countries and the emerging markets which have seen negative declines,” Muhammad Ishaq Dar told the channel.

Ishaq Dar is currently leading a Pakistani delegation at
the annual meeting of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Frankfurth (Germany). “We have shown seven year high growth in the last fiscal
year and in the current year we hope to cross 5 percent.

PM directs registring all poor, needy women in BISP: Marvi

SUKKUR, May 3 (APP):- Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon has said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed to register all poor and needy women with BISP in order to make them beneficiary of the program and to eliminate poverty.

Talking to office bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sukkur chapter here Tuesday, Marvi Memon said that the government believes in reaching to the doorsteps of the masses as it is a sacred responsibility to serve the people.

The E-Commerce programme had also been initiated for financial empowerment of BISP beneficiaries and through the system, products of beneficiaries would be available online which would also be recognized internationally, the Chairperson said.

KARACHI, May 03 (APP): Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar has said that there was a dire need of collective efforts to be taken by each stakeholder to make Pakistan prosperous and pushing the country forward.

He expressed these views while addressing at the 2nd Pakistan Pharma Summit organized by Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) here on Tuesday.

“We can not compare our economy with other economies because those are not facing same challenges as we are and we are fighting war (against terrorism) here”, she asserted.

WASHINGTON, May 3 (APP): Pakistani American community paid glowing tribute to late Amanullah Khan during a memorial reference held in the US capital of Washington, saying the Kashmiri leader was a symbol of sacrifice and struggled tirelessly for the right of self determination for the people of Indian held Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the
US based World Kashmir Awareness, said that the late Kashmiri leader’s message for the people was to disconnect themselves from Kashmiri political parties and become Kashmiris and Kashmiris alone to gain their right of self determination.

“Aman Sahib’s straightforwardness and selfless contribution to the cause of Kashmir will inspire generations to come,” he said and added that his demise was a colossal loss for the entire nation of Kashmir.”We will continue the mission of Aman Sahib till the people will achieve their internationally recognized right of self determination.

Ahsan Iqbal, Naval Vice Chief inspect ongoing maritime patrol ship project

KARACHI, May 3 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khan Hisham Bin Siddique on Tuesday inspected ongoing maritime patrol ship project at HQs Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).

They were briefed in detail about the construction of 06 new ships for PMSA, a handout said here.

It was informed that construction of first 3 ships at China has already commenced and first 2 ships will be delivered before the end of current year which is 4 months earlier than contract date.

Addressing a public gathering in Bannu district where Prime Minister
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif announced scores of development projects today, Maulana Fazlur Rehman without naming PTI Chief Imran Khan said that those criticizing Sharif family today in the wake of Panama leaks should not forget that they also have secret assets and offshore companies in their names and public wanted to know about it.

“If across the board accountability was carried out those who considered themselves being the champions of anti corruption campaigns would find no place to hide,” Fazl remarked.

PM’s announcement to upgrade Bannu Airport, Lakki University termed gifts for KP southern districts

PESHAWAR, May 03 (APP): People from southern districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Tuesday termed the announcement of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for upgrading Bannu Airport to international standard and establishment of university in Lakki Marwat gifts for them from the Federal Government.

Noor Dad Khan, a resident of Bannu district, told APP that the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had won the hearts and minds of people of southern districts. Upgradation of Bannu Airport was their old demand and the Prime Minister deserved appreciation for fulfilling the same, he added.

He said arrival and departure of international flights at the Bannu International Airport would help save precious time and money of a large number of overseas Pakistanis belonging to Karak, DI Khan,
Bannu, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Tank, North Waziristan Agency and South Waziristran Agency.
