Governor for resolving problems of private schools

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP): Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Friday said that it was the responsibility of the government to provide free and quality education to the poor and deprived segment of the society as it was their basic right.

Addressing the 15th Convocation of the Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi at Convention Centre, he said that government was making all-out efforts for the promotion of education sector by focusing on higher education.

Governor Punjab conferred degrees, gold, silver medals to the position holders who completed their degrees in different categories from the varsity and congratulated them, their faculty and parents on this historical achievement.

Opposition ToRs on Panama issue based on person specific: Khaqan

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that opposition has prepared Terms
of Reference (ToRs) on Panama Papers a person specific which even Supreme Court would not accept.
The opposition could not dictate the courts as their ToRs were a charge
sheet against the PML-N, he said while talking to a news channel.
The minister said that accountability should be executed against all
those mentioned in Panama Papers. He advised the opposition that they should leave Panama Leaks matter on the judicial commission.

ECP asks PS-22 candidates to file nomination papers on Monday

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday asked the candidates, who have already filed their nomination papers for contesting PS-22 Naushero Feroze-IV to avoid filing fresh nomination forms or making deposits under section 13 of the Representation of the People Act, 1976.

Clarifying the notification of issued on May 3, 2016, the nomination papers from prospective candidates are required to be filed on (Monday) May 9, 2016 in the office of the Returning Officer concerned. However the scrutiny will be held afresh.

The bye-election in PS-22 Naushero Feroze-IV would be held on June 2.

Pakistan expressed concern on dismissal of Niazami’s review petition in Bangladesh

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP): Pakistan on Friday expressed deep concern and anguish on dismissal of review application on the death sentence, by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, for Motiur Rahman Niazami, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami.
“We have also been following reaction of international community and human rights organizations to the controversial trials in Bangladesh, related to events of 1971,” a foreign office statement issued here said.
“There is a need for reconciliation in Bangladesh in accordance with the spirit of Tripartite Agreement of April 1974 which calls for a forward looking approach in matters relating to the events of 1971,” the statement added.

SZBUL to organize SAARC Legal Education Conference in July

ISLAMABAD May 6 (APP): Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law
(SZBUL) Karachi in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs would organize SAARC Legal Education Conference at Karachi in July leading to SAARC Conference in November 2016.
The decision to hold the conference was reached at a meeting held on
Friday between Vice Chancellor SZBUL Justice Qazi Khalid Ali and Director General SAARC Dr. Mohammad Faisal at Foreign Office here, a press release stated.
The conference would be inaugurated by the President of Pakistan as
chief guest while Secretary General SAARC Secretariat, Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, Federal Ministers, Chairman HEC, President SAARC Law Forum Mehmud Mandviwala would participate.

PBS directed for early completion of rural surveys

ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP): Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday directed Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to complete the survey of Rural Areas as soon as possible so that the updated data is available to the decision makers for informed decisions.
In a meeting, the Chief Statistician, Asif Bajwa briefed the Minister about various activities of PBS.
He made a detailed presentation on the “Urban Rural Areas Frame Updation” Project and informed that the PBS surveyors have done most of the work of compilation of the digital map of the urban areas of Pakistan.

PML-N always beleieved in supremacy of courts: Muqam

PESHAWAR, May 6 (APP): Advisor to PM, Engineer Ameer Muqam
Friday said that PML-N has always believed in supremacy of judiciary.
Addressing oath taking ceremony of Takhat Bahai Bar Association, he said that judiciary is a state organ and its decisions are binding on every one.
He said that Prime Minister had presented himself for accountability and explicitly said that a judicial commission should be constituted to probe matter of Panama Leaks adding there is no need of protests and sit-ins after that.

Balochistan Finance Advisor resigns

Finance, Mir Khalid Langove has resigned from his office as saying he wanted transparent investigation into the case of arrested finance secretary, Mushtaq Ahmed Raisnai.
He was addressing a hurriedly called press conference at Quetta Press
Club, here late Friday night.
He said there were no allegations of corruption against him.

Finance Minister phones Farooq Sattar

Ishaq Dar made a telephone call to Dr. Farooq Sattar, senior MQM
leader here Friday.
The Finance Minister while talking to Farooq Sattar, expressed sorrow and grief over the death of his Coordinator, Aftab Ahmed, who had died in custody a few days ago.
The Minister stated that the Government would make sure that justice is served in the matter.

PM arrives in Sukkur to launch work on Sukkur-Multan motorway

SUKKUR, May 6 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived here Friday to launch work on the Sukkur-Multan portion of M5 motorway.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah received the Prime Minister on his arrival at the Sukkur Airport.

According to a PM House statement, the project is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor that is being executed on the directive of the Prime Minister to link Karachi with Peshawar through a network of motorways.
