PM to attend session on Friday to reply Opposition’s questions, Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD, May 10, (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Tuesday assured the opposition that the Prime Minister would come to the House on Friday and answer all questions raised by them regarding Panama leaks.

Responding to the Opposition Leader’s observations in the National
Assembly, the Minister said the Prime Minister was holding the office for the third time and he always feels pleasure to attend sessions of the National Assembly.

He said the government had started the process for constituting
commission on demand of the opposition and was considering to prepare joint Terms Of References (TORs) in consultation with the opposition.

Turkish scholarships for graduate, post graduate Pakistani students

ANKARA, May 10 (APP)- Turkey has opened doors for graduate and post graduate scholarships for Pakistani students to get education in its universities and hoped they can become an important bridge for further promoting its relations with Pakistan at people to people level.

The 5000 scholarships are being offered under a well- thought out plan put in place for Asia- Pacific countries by Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) under which all expenses like tickets, tuition fee and boarding are paid by the Turkish government, detailing salient features of the programme president of YTB Prof. Kudret Bulbul told a group of visiting journalists here Tuesday.

Responding to a query he said at least 6500 Pakistani students have applied for Turkish scholarships. Meanwhile it will not be out of place to mention here that until now majority of Pakistani students had been heading for Western universities.

Pakistan to continue to extend all out support to Sri Lanka: Envoy

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka
Maj. Gen. (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain has stated that Pakistan has always been extending all out support to Sri Lanka including cooperation at various multilateral fora which the government of Sri Lanka deeply appreciates at all levels.
Syed Shakeel Hussain said this while talking to the an eleven-member
delegation of Pakistan National School of Public Policy, which is currently visiting Sri Lanka on five-day tour.
The delegation comprising senior officers of the civil services of
Pakistan was being led by Naeem Aslam, Dean of the Institution, a message received here from Colombo on Tuesday said.

Electoral reforms committee to meet on Monday

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): The meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms would again meet on next Monday to finalize the draft amendments for submission to the parliament.
The Meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms was held at the Parliament House on Tuesday, said a statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.
Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting. Proposed amendments in articles of the constitution relating to appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Members of the Commission were discussed.

EU focusing on technical education in KP, FATA: Ambassador

NOWSHERA, May 10 (APP): European Union Ambassador for Pakistan, Jean Francois Cautain said that EU is taking keen interest to promote technical education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA owing to the sacrifices of its people in war against militancy.
He was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Solar Technician Training Lab of Umma College of Technology here Tuesday.
He said that EU is focusing both technical and elementary education to
educate the youth and make them a useful part of society. He said that we could not ignore Pakistan due to its vital geopolitical position in the region.

Pakistan-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group holds seminar

Friendship Group Tuesday arranged a seminar on ‘The Cuban
Health Model and What Pakistan Can learn From It’.
The seminar, which took place at the Pakistan Institute of
Parliamentary Services, was convened in order to raise awareness
about the healthcare system of Cuba, renowned for its excellence and
efficiency the world over.
Speakers included Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Convenor of the
Friendship Group, Ambassador of Cuba Gabriel Tiel Capote, Awais Leghari, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, and Senator Shibli Faraz member of the Friendship Group, and DG Americas in the Foreign Office, Muhemmed Aejaz, said a presss release.

17 killed in India army ammunition depot fire: reports

QUETTA, May 10 (APP): At least two personnel of Traffic Police were
killed and eight other people including policemen and civilians were injured in a bomb blast hit a Traffic Police Post outside the gate of the University of Balochistan in the provincial capital, here on Tuesday.
The Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed the incident and said that the terrorists attacked a traffic police post with bomb.
“The saboteurs carried out a bomb explosion in order to target a Traffic
Police Post set up outside main gate of the University of Balochistan,” he said.

British High Commissioner visits KP Assembly

PESHAWAR, May 10 (APP): British High Commissioner, Thomas Drew Tuesday called on Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asad Qaiser here in Assembly Secretariat.
Those present on the occasion were included Deputy Speaker, Dr. Meher Taj Roghani, Senior Minister Inayatullah, Provincial Minister for Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli and parliamentary secretary, Dr. Haider Ali.
Besides, bilateral relations, capacity building of legislators, further
cooperation in health and education sectors was also discussed in details. During the meeting regional situation, particularly law and order situation was also highlighted.

Tri-service war game Tempest-II commences

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): A detailed inaugural briefing on the aims,
objectives and conduct of the exercise – Tempest-II by Pakistan Air
Force (PAF) along sister services was held at Nur Khan Auditorium, Air Headquarters here on Tuesday.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, were present at the briefing.
Senior officers from tri-service also attended the briefing, a PAF press release stated.

Electoral Reforms committee reviews proposed amendments

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms in meeting reviewed proposed amendments in the constitution relating to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
In its meeting the committee particularly focused on rules and regulations for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and four members of the Commission.
Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the 16th meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms at the Parliament House on Tuesday.
