Arthur says he will make no compromise on discipline

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Newly-appointed Pakistan cricket team coach Mickey Arthur has said he will not compromise on discipline, fitness and fielding standards during his time with the side.

Arthur was appointed Pakistan’s coach last week, filling the position vacated by Waqar Younis in April.

“I will be tough on discipline and that’s the way we can get better and better results,” he was quoted as saying by prominent cricket website Espncricinfo on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on Law and
Justice Barrister Zafarullah Khan Tuesday said corruption had been
rightly labelled as mother of all ills as it gave birth to multifarious problems, including nepotism and favoritism.

“It negates meritocracy, transparency and accountability. Role of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is very important in eradication of corruption from the country,” he said while addressing a seminar organized by the NAB here at National Library.

He said Father of Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his address to Constituent Assembly of Pakistan had termed “corruption a poison” which needed to be put down with an iron hand.

PTI chief trying to create anarchy: PML N leaders

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Minister of State for Privatization,
Muhammad Zubair Tuesday said that the government was committed for conducting fair investigation into offshore companies matter.
The government believed in accountability and transparency in the tax system and it would start investigation against all those involved in tax evading and owning illegal offshore companies, he told a press conference along with PML-N leader and MNA Danyal Aziz here at PID.
The Prime Minister and his family were willing to face investigation of Panama Leaks at any forum, he added.

More than 20,000 teachers of FATA would be upgraded:Dar

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): The government on Tuesday agreed
on the upgradation of more than 20,000 teachers of Federally
Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Agreement to this affect was reached at a meeting about
upgradation of FATA schools and colleges teachers held here under
the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad
Ishaq Dar.
Additional Chief Secretary FATA Secretariat, briefed the meeting on the proposed up-gradation of the teachers of FATA and stated that the issue had remained unresolved since 2012 and was creating unrest among the teachers of the area.

Latest Panama leaks puzzle opposition: Daniyal

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): The opposition parties seemed to be
puzzled after the latest revelation of names of the persons associated
with them in the Panama Papers and they were now gradually backtracking from their previous stance, PML-N Member of the National Assembly Daniyal Aziz said Tuesday.
Addressing a joint press conference along with Minister of State for Privatization Muhammad Zubair, he said the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) in its latest papers had revealed the names of persons associated with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

Daniyal Aziz said the latest data updated on the ICIJ website, showed that PML-Q leader Monis Elahi had offshore companies.

Policy framed for green-belts along railways tracks: Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways, Saad Rafique Tuesday informed Senate that the policy for establishing green belts along railways tracks through district government/TMAs had been framed and circulated to all the Railway divisions.
He said that the project was aimed at developing landscaping along tracks in order to prevent open defecation and squatting.
The minister said that in this context a pilot project had been conceived for implementation on Shahdara – Raiwind section in collaboration with Lahore Development Authority, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Punjab.

FATA reforms to be introduced soon: Abdul Qadir

ISLAMABAD, May 10, (APP): Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Lt. Gen. ® Abdul Qadir Baloch Tuesday said the whole nation acknowledged sacrifices rendered by the people of FATA for the country.

Speaking on a point of order in National Assembly, he said FATA reforms  would be introduced as soon as possible.

The issue of up gradation of teachers in FATA would be resolved on priority basis, he added.

This was stated by Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan while chairing a meeting with Pakistani counterparts of Pak India Business Council here on Tuesday.

The delegation was headed by Yawar Ali Shah who briefed the minister
on their recent visit to India and outcome of the meetings held with Indian business and trade stakeholders.
