Pakistan desirous of benefitting from Korea’s agri expertise: President

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said Pakistan desired to benefit from the success of Republic of Korea in the agriculture sector through modern techniques.

The President said this while talking to outgoing Ambassador of Republic of Korea Dr Song Jong-Hwan, who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Mamnoon said the collaboration between Pakistani agriculture universities and Korea’s agriculture research institutes could be very useful in modernizing and increasing agriculture production in Pakistan.

PEMRA takes action for violating code of conduct: Pervaiz

ISLAAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid Tuesday apprised the Senate that in case of violation of Code of Conduct, PEMRA initiates legal actions against cable operators, which include issuance of warnings, explanations, notices, show cause notices, revocation/suspension of licences and imposition of fines.

Replying to a question, the minister said the Pakistan Electronic
Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) regulates the distribution service operations in private sector through PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended  by PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007, PEMRA Rules, 2009, PEMRA (Distribution Service Operations) Regulations, 2011, PEMRA (Council of Complaints) Rules, 2010.

He said on the directives of the Supreme Court the government has recently issued a revised Electronic Media (Programmes and Advertisements) Code of Conduct-2015 which is also applicable on
Cable Operators with effect from August 19, 2015

Dr Tariq assures traders to get tenancy law passed earliest

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Minister of State for Capital Administration
and Development Division (CADD), Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Tuesday assured traders community to get the long-awaited tenancy law passed from the Parliament and resolve their issues at the earliest.

“The bill will be got passed from the Parliament at the earliest to
fulfill the longstanding demand of traders,” he said while addressing a reception organized by the Traders Welfare Association of Jinnah Super Market in his honour.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government believed in extending maximum facilities to businessmen and pursuing the policies to ensure business-friendly environment for them.

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Pakistan aims to increase its exports to India to the tune of one billion dollars within a year, as made-up textile products and readymade garments have great potential to make their way to the markets of neghbouring country, Commerce Minister Khurram Distagir Khan said.

The minister was chairing a meeting with Pakistani counterparts of Pak
India Business Council delegation led by Yawar Ali Shah.

The minister was of the view that due to land route, Pakistan is the most favorite and cost-effective market for India in terms of importing raw material for their agriculture and textile products.

NAG to organize workshop on conceptual drawing

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): The National Art Gallery (NAG) of Pakistan
National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will organize a workshop on Figurative and Conceptual Drawing on May 16.

An eminent visual artist Aleem Dad Khan would conduct the three-day workshop, an official of PNCA.

He said that the participants would bring their own material/equipment
in the event. Certificates would also be awarded to the participants showing 90 per cent attendance.

He was talking to a delegation of PANAH Trust led by Maj Gen ® Masud-ur-Rehman Kiani, Chairman Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Mamnoon urged to create awareness among the general public about risks to heart diseases and stated that more deliberate and planned efforts should be made to achieve the stated objectives.

The President was talking to OIC Secretary General’s special
representative on Jammu & Kashmir Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman Bin Bakr Alem who along with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, said a press release.

The President noted that in the Istanbul Summit of OIC collective and
forceful voice was raised for the resolution of Kashmir issue which further raised the expectations of Kashmiri people for its just solution.

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Benazir Income Support Programm (BISP) is ready to initiate the pilot phase of its new poverty survey in 15 districts and a tribal agency by the middle of this year, following the best international practices.

This was stated by Minister of State and Chairperson BISP MNA Marvi
Memon during her visit to Chakwal and its adjacent villages, Mureed, Bhoun and Keryala in order to create awareness among massess about the survey.

While addressing large gatherings of elected members of local bodies,

No part of country to be ignored in CPEC project, Ahsan Iqbal tells NA

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a national project and no part of the country would be ignored in this gigantic project.

“It is not a project for a single province but a national project and
will be completed in phases from 2014 to 2030 while no province can be ignored in the project,” he said while responding to a point of order of Haji Shah Gee Gul Afridi in the National Assembly about no scheme for FATA in $46 billion CPEC project.

The minister said the present government believed in uniform development and not oblivious to the problems of people of FATA.
