NEW YORK, May 10 (APP): Sadiq Khan, the newly-elected mayor of London, has denounced Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, saying that Trump’s inflammatory remarks about Islam could threaten security in Britain and the United States.
“Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less
safe,” Sadiq Khan wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “It risks alienating mainstream Muslims. London has proved him wrong.”
On Monday, Trump told The New York Times that “there will always be
exceptions,” when asked how his proposal to bar Muslims from entering the United States would affect people like Sadiq Khan.

CPEC to bring economic, industrial uplift in KPK: Ahsan
ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday said that the federal government was committed for the uplift of under-developed areas under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
While chairing a high-level meeting of CPEC in the Planning Commission, he said, the government was ensuring equal opportunities for the development in all the provinces.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw (KPK), Pervaiz Khattak and the senior federal and provincial officials were present.

gusty/dust raising winds are expected at scattered places of the
country while hot and dry conditions will prevail elsewhere in the
country.
Rainfall is expected at KP in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan,
Kohat, Bannu, D.I.Khan divisions, Islamabad, upper Punjab at Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in south Punjab Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan divisions, Northeast Balochistan Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi divisions, upper Sindh at Sukkur, Larkana and Hyderabad divisions.

Humaira Arshad withdraws plea for dissolution of marriage
LAHORE, May 10 (APP): A family court on Tuesday disposed of a suit,
filed by singer Humaira Arshad, for marriage dissolution, after being withdrawn.
Earlier, Humaira’s counsel Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmad appeared before the Family Court Duty Judge Ms Bushra and submitted that his client did not want to pursue the matter further.
He requested the court to allow withdrawal of the suit.

UN regrets execution of six people in Afghanistan
UNITED NATIONS, May 10 (APP): The United Nations human rights arm has expressed regret over the execution of six people in Afghanistan on Sunday, amid serious concerns about compliance with fair trial standards, and reports about the widespread use of torture and ill-treatment as a means of extracting confessions.
“We fear that there could be more executions in the near future,”
Spokesperson Rupert Colville of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), said in Geneva.
International law requires that the death penalty may only be carried
out in line with a final judgement rendered by a competent court after a legal process with all possible safeguards to ensure a fair trial, including legal representation and the right to appeal to a court of higher jurisdiction, he said.
Workers’ remittances rise 5.2% to US $16 billion: SBP
ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Overseas Pakistani workers remitted US $
16034.39 million in the first ten months (July to April) of FY16, showing a growth of 5.25% compared with US $ 15235 million received during the same period in the preceding year.
During April 2016, the inflow of worker’s remittances amounted to US $
1656.85 million, which is 3.17% lower than March 2016 and 1.02% higher than April 2015, said a statement issued by the Central bank on Tuesday.
The country wise details for the month of April 2016 show that inflows
from Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA, UK, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and EU countries amounted to US $ 488.78 million, US $ 345.99 million, US $ 189.84 million, US $ 221.88 million, US $ 199.53 million and US $ 39.85 million respectively compared with the inflow of US $ 519.65 million, US $ 398.41 million, US $ 214.45 million, US $ 186.96 million, US $ 193.13 million and US $ 27 million respectively in April 2015.
Drama workshop concludes at PNCA
ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): A sixteen day drama training workshop concluded here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Tuesday.
Director General PNCA Iftikhar Babar was the chief guest at the concluding session of the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that participation of young artists in training workshop, reflects the future of the drama arts in the country.
PM to visit Tajikistan tomorrow for launch of CASA-1000 project
ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will visit Tajikistan on May 11-12 to attend the launching ceremony of CASA-1000 power project.
The Foreign Office on Tuesday said the visit was taking place at the invitation of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Water and Power/Defence, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, and senior officials.
