ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad
Rafique Wednesday said the government would focus on improving its performance rather than wasting time on responding to the “abusive
political campaigns”.
The minister, in a statement here, said he had not seen an
“intellectual dishonest” like Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman
Imran Khan.
The PTI, he said, was doing politics just to get power at the cost of
national interests and democracy. No one else had taken the U-turns
which were taken by the PTI chief in the political history of the
country, he added

Sartaj appreciates OIC’s role in addressing Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Advisor to the Prime Minister on
Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz Wednesday appreciated the steadfast
support of the Muslim Ummah expressed through the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation (OIC) platform for the valiant people of Indian
Occupied Jammu and Kashmir struggling for the just cause of their
right to self-determination.
He also thanked the OIC Secretary General and Special
Representative for their efforts and keen interest in the Kashmir
dispute.
The Advisor was talking to OIC Secretary General’s Special

British High Commissioner meets Nisar

Pakistan, Thomas Drew called on Minister for Interior, Chaudhry
Nisar Ali Khan here on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interests.

The issues raised during recent visit of Interior Minister

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain Wednesday said that the opposition was trying to make Panama Papers a political issue for point scoring.
The opposition should talk with the government on Panama Papers to
evolve a consensus to sort out the issue, he said while talking to a news channel.
The minister said the opposition including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and
Pakistan People’s Party have adopted a policy to do not accept the government view point regarding the Panama Papers.

Chairperson Marvi Memon Wednesday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was pursuing its agenda to serve the masses.

Muqam advises Bilawal to initiate accountability from Asif Zardari

on Wednesday advised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to first start the
accountability from Asif Ali Zardari, before demanding accountability
of others.
Addressing PML-N worker convention in Tehsil Kabal, he questioned
how could Bilawal use the word ‘accountability’ when his father Asif
Ali Zardari’s corruption had been exposed and he has yet not said a
word on that?
He said that the irregularities allegedly committed by Asif Ali

and Bilawal should first initiate accountability in this regard.

Pakistan saddened over hanging of JI leader of Bangladesh; terms it against spirit of democracy

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Pakistan Wednesday said it was “deeply saddened” over the hanging of Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Bangladesh Moti-ur-Rehman Nizami for the alleged crimes committed before December 1971 and termed it against the spirit of democracy.
“His only sin was upholding the constitution and laws of Pakistan,” Foreign Office said in a statement.
“The act of suppressing the opposition by killing their leaders through flawed trials is completely against the spirit of democracy.”

UN rights panel slams civilian attacks in Syria; calls for accountability

UNITED NATIONS, May 11 (APP): A United Nations-mandated human rights inquiry Wednesday called on all parties to cease unlawful attacks on civilian targets and return to a full cessation of hostilities.
“These incidents demonstrate the undeniable fact that this conflict
has repeatedly exacted its heaviest toll on civilians,” Paulo Sérgio Pinheiro, Chair of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry
on the Syrian Arab Republic, said in a press statement issued Wednesday by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

“This flagrant disregard for international humanitarian law is not
new, but rather is the continuation of a well-established trend of unlawfully attacking medical sites and personnel, places of refuge, and infrastructure necessary for civilian life,” he stressed.
