ICIJ frequently committing mistakes in Panama leaks : Daniyal Aziz

ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP): Member of National Assembly (MNA) Daniyal Aziz Thursday said that it was imperative to make nation aware of the fact that ICIJ did commit mistakes besides including wrong data in Panama Leaks.

He said name of the Prime Minister was not in Panama Leaks.

“ICIJ is frequently committing mistakes in the Panama leaks and they have also included wrong data about Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz in the Leaks and we have pinpointed these mistakes as well,” he said while talking to a private news channel.

UNITED NATIONS, May 12 (APP): The United Nations will be practicing
“double standards” if the right of self determination to people living under occupation—Kashmiris and Palestinians continues to be condoned and if it fails to resolve long standing disputes, Pakistani Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi has told the General Assembly.

Speaking in a High Level Thematic Debate on Peace and Security, the
Pakistani envoy underscored the need for the world body to stop injustices being done to the peoples of Kashmir and Palestine and to honour the commitments made to them through it’s resolutions.

She also called on the U.N. to evolve cooperative solutions to
international challenges, which she called “truly imposing”, referring to rise of xenophobia, Islamophobia, intolerance and various forms of discrimination as well as spread of terrorism.

US lawmakers unveil bill to block Trump’s Muslim ban

WASHINGTON, May 12 (APP): A group of lawmakers from the Democratic Party unveiled a bill on Wednesday that would prevent Donald Trump from implementing his proposed ban on Muslim entering the United States.

The bill has been introduced on the eve of the visit by Trump to the
capital Washington DC, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee for the next US President, who has during his election campaign called for ban on Muslims from coming to the United States.

The bill titled “Freedom of Religion” Act was introduced by U.S.
Representative Don Beyer which seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act with a new section titled “Prohibition of denying admission because of religion”.

Rain, duststorm expected

at different places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions) till Sunday.
Rain/thunderstorm with gusty winds is also expected in FATA,
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during this week According to Met Office, rain dust/thunderstorm is also expected at a few places in South Punjab, including Multan , D.G. Khan and Bahawalpur divisions, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat and Sibbi divisions in Balochistan, and Sukkur and Larkana divisions in Upper Sindh till Friday.

Pak Snooker Team for 4th Asian Team event, Red Snooker Championship announced

KARACHI, May 11 (APP):- The Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association
(PBSA) Wednesday finalized Pakistan Snooker Team for participation in 4th Asian Team Event and 5th 6 Red Snooker Championship on Wednesday.
According to the detail, the events will be held in Abu Dhabi and UAE
respectively from May 18-26.
The players participating in the championship are National Champion
Muhammad Bilal, Former World Champion Muhammad Asif, Babar Masih and Asjad Iqbal.

PM to present facts in Parliament: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting
and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Wednesday that
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would present facts and truth in the
Parliament regrading the baseless allegations being levelled by certain elements.
Talking to newsmen after inaugurating an educational expo here, the minister said some opposition parties were trying to mislead the nation through telling lies. But the nation knew the truth as baseless propaganda based on such allegations used to be launched in the past too.
Some elements were using derogatory language, but it was not the culture of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to respond to the same, he added.

Treatment meted out to JI leader against international laws: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Minister for Interior and Narcotics
Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Wednesday said that the treatment
meted out to the leaders of Jamaat- e-Islami by the Bangladesh government was inhuman and against the international laws.
While raising this issue with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the minister said that present government of Bangladesh was targeting the JI leadership as their only fault was to show loyalty with Pakistan as a Pakistani 45 years before.
Strongly condemning the incident, Chaudhry Nisar said that
international community was silent on the matter, adding that “We
should raise voice against the inhuman policy of the Bangladesh
government.”

No plan to replace top officials of Pakistan Cricket Board: Riaz Hussain Pirzada

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination
Riaz Hussain Pirzada said Wednesday there was no plan to replace top officials of Pakistan Cricket Board.
Speaking during question-hour in the Senate the minister said cricket
was an international game and Sheryar Khan and Najam Sehti who were both experienced and honorable officials had been appointed to effectively tackle cricket issues at international issues.
Referring to both to the officials, he added, they successfully
conducted Pakistan Super League(PSL) and had been effectively countering issues regarding Pakistan cricket at International level.

PM Nawaz Sharif, Tajik President agree to boost cooperation in trade, energy

Nawaz Sharif and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Wednesday agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in areas of trade, energy and connectivity.
Chairing the delegation-level meeting held here at Qasr-e- Millat – the presidential palace – the two leaders emphasized on close collaboration between Pakistan and Tajikistan at the levels of governments and people.
The Prime Minister arrived here this afternoon to attend the launching ceremony of Central Asia South Asia (CASA-1000) to be held on Thursday.

FBR issues active taxpayers list for tax year 2015

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Wednesday issued the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) for the Tax Year 2015.
The ATL 2015 contains CNICs/names of individuals/National Tax Numbers (NTNs)/names of companies and Association of Persons (AoPs) who filed their income tax returns for the tax year 2015.
The names of those taxpayers who had filed their returns in tax year
2014 but failed to file tax returns for the tax year 2015 have not been included in the ATL for tax year 2015 and they would be treated as non-filers requiring to pay income tax as per enhanced withholding tax rates on the pattern of other non-filers as per various provisions of law
with immediate effect, said a statement issued by the FBR.
