Laxity on uplift projects in past, a criminal negligence: Mamnoon

KARACHI, May 15 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain has said
that those who failed to initiate development projects, including power projects, in the past, had resorted to criminal negligence.

However, he was convinced that with mega projects that
have been started by the present government, it was certain that the problems in Pakistan would be resolved leaving no room for maladministration or corruption.

He was speaking as chief guest at the skills competitions
award ceremony at the Governor House here on Saturday evening.
The competitions were held under the auspices of the
National Vocational and Technical Training Commission under
the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programme.

Some elements doing politics of personal gains: Khawaja Asif

National Squash championship inaugurated in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, May 15 (APP) The First Benazir Bhutto Shaheed National Women and Junior Boys Squash Championship under the slogan of ‘Sports for Peace’ has been inaugurated here at Benazir Bhutto Squash Complex, Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The Championship is being organized under the auspices of Global Peace Foundation in collaboration with Rawalpindi Islamabad Zonal Squash Association in which more than 100 squash players are participating.

While addressing to the inaugural ceremony of the championship, the chairman of Global Peace Foundation Haji Muhammad Gulzar Awan said that Sport plays a vital role in improving fitness, health and education-provide opportunities of employment-fosters non-violence, fair competition, team-work, co-operation and respect- bridges cultural and ethnic divides- makes possible cross cultural dialogue, understanding, unity, tolerance and peaceful-coexistence, he added saying more active participants and passive spectators learn these values which leads towards peace, tolerance and harmony.

Islamabad U16 Football trials on Monday

Islamabad May 15 (APP): Trials to select the Islamabad under16 football team will be held on Monday at Mehran ground G-9/2.

Secretary Islamabad Football Association, Syed Sharafat Bukhari said that players who were born after January 1, 2001 are eligible to participate in the trials.

The selected team will take in the Inter Provincial under16 Football Championship which will be played from mway 27 at Gilgit.

Mainly hot, dry weather forecast, rain dust-storm likely at isolated places

ISLAMABAD, May 15 (APP): Mainly hot and dry weather is expected most parts of the country while rain-thunderstorm is expected at
few places in Lahore division, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during
next 24 hours.

Low pressure area lies over north Balochistan and its trough extending
southeastwards. Continental air is expected to prevail our most parts of the country during coming week, an official of met office told APP.

In last 24 hours weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the
country, however, rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds occurred at isolated places in Peshawar, Kohat, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Rawalpindi divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Wapda, PAF, Navy victorious in Volleyball

ISLAMABAD, May 15 (APP): Wapda, PAF and Pakistan Navy earned
victories in the 49th National Volleyball Championship played here
at the Liaquat Gymnasium of the Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday.

Un the matches played, Wapda beat POF 25-10 , 22-25-25, 14,25-
14; PAF thrashed Police 25-19,25-22,25-17 and Navy defeated Punjab
25-17,25-18-25-17.

Teams from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force
(PAF), Pakistan Wapda, Pakistan Police, Pakistan Railways, Higher
Education Commission (HEC), POF Wah, Balochistan, Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, FATA, Azad Jammu and Kashmir are
participating in the championship.

ISLAMABAD May 15 (APP): A total of 24 matches were decided in
the inaugural Hascol National Ranking Tennis Championship on Sunday
here at the PTF Tennis Complex.

The organizers have received 150 entries for various events.

All the outstation players are entitled to Rs 700 as daily allowance
until elimination, and all outstation main draw players will also get economy class railway fare both way.

PAL to hold literary reference on Tuesday

Rs eight bln disbursed under PM’s Youth Business Loan Scheme

ISLAMABAD, May 15 (APP): The government has disbursed 8,261 business loans worth Rs 8 billion amongst potential entrepreneurs across the country under PM’s Youth Business Loan (PMYBL) Scheme in last two and half years, said official sources.

As many as 64,114 applications have been received for interest-free loans under PMYBL scheme in last two and half years. Out of which 8,261 have received loans, 16,423 applications have so far been sanctioned for onward disbursement of loans.

According to breakup, 161 business loans worth Rs 157.85 million were disbursed amongst the potential entrepreneurs of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in the last two and half years.
