LAHORE, May 18 (APP): The Central Leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N), MNA Hamza Shehbaz said that accountability would be conducted without discrimination.

He said, “We want accountability without any
discrimination but those having their own offshore company should not level allegations against others.”

He was talking to media after expressing condolences with
the bereaved families of those who died due to collapse of a
house last month at Farooq Gunj, walled city, here on
Wednesday.

Pak-China multi-dimensional ties to grow further: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Pakistan ambassador to China Masood Khalid  lauding Pakistan and Chinese multi dimensional ties covering Defence, Economic, Cultural and Educational fields in the region said it would further augment in future.

While talking to Radio Pakistan’s Current Affairs programme, he said leadership of both the countries counted the security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in Beijing as the game changing project which was important for both the countries.

He said the Chinese leadership has lauded the efforts of Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorists especially in Zarb-e-Azb and added that the Chinese leadership also acknowledged the sacrifices of men in uniform and civilian.

UNITED NATIONS, May 18 (APP): Indian tactics to depict Jammu and Kashmir as part of India cannot change the fundamental fact that the State is “disputed territory”, a top Pakistani diplomat said Wednesday, referring to the controversial draft bill seeking to regulate India’s geospatial information.

“Jammu and Kashmir is disputed territory and numerous UN Security  Resolutions attest to this,” Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi told APP when asked to comment on the Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesman’s claim that the State was integral part of India and that the the proposed Geospatial Information Regulation Bill was an “entirely internal legislative matter of India”.

Ambassador Lodhi comments came as the United Nations Security Council  issued her letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the Council’s President, in which she voiced Pakistan government’s “serious concern” over the Indian move, as a document of the 15-member body.

US welcomes Afghan-Hekmatyar peace talks, says all relevant groups should be part of political dialogue

WASHINGTON, May 18 (APP): The United States on Tuesday welcomed  ongoing talks between the Afghan government and Hezb-e-Islami group of Afghan warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and said all relevant groups should be part of such a political dialogue to end the violence in Afghanistan.

At a regular briefing at the US State Department, spokesman John Kirby  said the United States supports an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned process for a negotiated resolution of the conflict in Afghanistan.

“All relevant groups, including Hezb-e-Islami of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar,  should be a part of such a political dialogue so that Afghans can talk directly to other Afghans about the future of their country,” he said and added that the United States welcomes political negotiations among the Afghan government, the Afghan High Peace Council and representatives of  HIG.

Punjab to celeberate 65 years of Pak-China friendship

LAHORE, May 17 (APP): Punjab government has decided to celebrate completion of 65 years of unprecedented friendship between Pakistan and China in an enthusiastic manner.

It was decided in a meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.

These ceremonies will start from May 19 and continue till May 23. Besides, seminars on the strong ties of friendship between Pakistan and China, a pictorial exhibition will also be arranged.

LAHORE, May 17 (APP): The 23rd death anniversary of legendary film star, Rani will be observed on May 27 at her residence in Muslim Town Lahore.

Her daughter will arrange Qura’an Khawani for the departed soul.

Rani joined film industry in 1960 as a heroin of a Pakistani film then she continued to play central roles of the films and performed in scores of films.

RAWALPINDI, May 17 (APP): Director General (DG) Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa Tuesday said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring prosperity and greater security in the region.

“This (CPEC) will directly bring prosperity, but indirectly will also ensure greater security,” he said in a news conference in Beijing, China, said a message received here.

He said the CPEC was the flagship project of the ‘one-belt one-road’ vision of the Chinese leadership, adding that it would bring a huge dividend to Pakistan in particular and the entire region.

IFAD Vice President meets Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Vice President, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Michael Mordasini here on Tuesday.

Michael Mordasini apprised the Finance Minister about the current profile of IFAD projects in Pakistan and said the organization with its fundamental aim to combat rural poverty by promoting rural development had come a long way since starting its operations in 1978.

He said that IFAD’s strategic objective was to assist the governments in providing people in rural areas with the skills, services and technologies that would enable them to increase productivity; and, second, to build and support local capacity through the promotion of participatory development processes.

New education fund to be launched at next week’s UN World Humanitarian Summit

UNITED NATIONS, May 17 (APP): At next week’s World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, more than 100 of the world’s leading countries, companies and philanthropists will join forces to create a “major breakthrough” in  the effort to assist millions of children whose education has been disrupted by conflicts and natural disasters, the United Nations envoy for education has announced.

“It is designed to cater the needs of 30 million displaced girls and boys, the largest population of girls and boys uprooted since 1945 – 20 million of whom have no choice at the moment and are unable to go to school,” UN Special Envoy Gordon Brown said of the new ‘Education Cannot Wait’ fund.

“This fund will be unique in many different ways,” he told reporters at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, via telephone.
