ISLAMABAD, April 7 (APP): Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria Thursday said Pakistan had taken note of US President Barack Obama statement after Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) and was ready to discuss with India arms control and restraint measures for peace and security of South Asia.

President Obama after the NSS had called for seeing  “progress in Pakistan and India, that subcontinent, making sure that as they develop military doctrines, that they are not continually moving in the wrong direction.”

Describing as “significant event from Pakistan’s perspective in many ways” the outcome of the 4th Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, the Foreign Office spokesman told a briefing here that Pakistan received a broad appreciation at the summit over its steps taken for the security and safety of its nuclear weapons.

ISLAMABAD, April 7 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday said that Pakistan and Canada should continue close collaboration in regional security, political and economic fields. In a meeting with Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ms.  Heather Cruden here at the PM House, the Prime Minister called for greater people-to-people contacts and strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.  The Prime Minister said relations between Pakistan and Canada were based on strong foundation of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 7 (APP): Former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at the PM House Thursday. Matters of political nature and development of KPK were discussed during the meeting, a statement released from the PM House said. Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan apprised the Prime Minister on the status of numerous development projects and welfare schemes underway in the province.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 7 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said opening of regional offices of Federal Insurance Ombudsman would be effective in providing justice to people at their doorsteps. Addressing at the inauguration of regional offices of Federal Insurance Ombudsman at Islamabad and Lahore, the President said federal ombudsman was a ray of light for people in redressal of their problems. President Mamnoon said majority of people were unable to understand the complex legal procedures and to resolve their issues.

MUZAFFARABAD, April 6 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said the PML-N would bring forward true representatives of people in AJK on merit to ensure progress and development and the welfare of masses. Nawaz Sharif in his capacity as Chairman of PML-N’s Parliamentary Board was chairing the board’s meeting here to evolve a strategy for the next AJK Legislative Assembly election and ponder over the names of party candidates. The Prime Minister said the progress and prosperity in Azad Jammu and Kashnir was very close to his heart.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 6 (APP): Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjah Wednesday said that strong institutions are guarantee for progress and advancement of the country. He was speaking at a reception hosted by PBC staff in honor of the outgoing director general, Syed Muhammad Imran Gardezi and new Director General, Saba Mohsin Raza at Broadcasting House in Islamabad. Federal parliamentary secretary said it was under government’s policy that recent recruitment of sub-editors, producers, and broadcast engineers were ensured on basis of merit to make Radio Pakistan a strong and competitive organization.
