No groupings in the team, players are not good enough: Azhar Mahmood

ISLAMABAD, Apr 8 (APP): Pakistan team’s bowling coach Azhar Mahmood has dismissed all speculations about groupings in the team, saying there were no issues amongst the players during Asia Cup and World Twenty20.

Azhar said the simple fact is that “our players are not good enough at the moment,” he said in comments on a website.

He said he had recommended the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hire a sports psychologist in order to get the players mindset and thinking in a positive direction.

Smart element to bring schooling standards as per modern needs

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): The government plans to bring different smart elements in schooling system by including online learning platforms and blended learning solutions.

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) had approved the project, tasking Federal Directorate of Education, Islamabad (FDEI) with implementation of smart schools project as part of the ‘smart’ upgradation plans of the government.

Official sources at Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms on Friday said the project aims at allowing students from class 3 to 5 to access a range of instructional material related to their studies.

Over 20 mln children out of schools in Pakistan: NCHD

KARACHI, April 8 (APP): Chairperson, National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Razina Alam Khan has said that around 57 million adults are illiterate in Pakistan and 24 million children are out of schools.

She stated this while briefing a meeting held between the NCHD and steering committee of Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF).

The meeting was held at a local hotel here and was chaired by Chairperson of NCHD, Razina Alam Khan along with Chairperson, PHDF, Dr Nadira Panjwani, said a press release on Friday.

TAPI pipeline to help address energy shortages in Pakistan: ADB

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): The shareholders of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline Company Limited (TPCL) signed an investment agreement in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) on Friday which would help address the energy shortages in the country.

According to a statement issued by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) here, the ceremony was witnessed by petroleum ministers and senior government officials of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and senior Asian Development Bank (ADB) officials.

The statement said the agreement would pave the way for the delivery of long-term natural gas supplies to Pakistan, helping it address energy shortages.

Mustafa Kamal approaches ECP for party registration

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): Founder of a new formed political party and Former Mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for registration of his party – “Pak Sarzameen Party”.

“Yes we have received a application from Mustafa Kamal for the registration of his party without party constitution and manifesto”, sources in the Election Commission told APP.

They said as per party registration rules and regulations, the application submitted by the Kamal was incomplete.

Opposition for finding way forward to address issue of Panama leaks

ISLAMABAD, Apr 8 (APP): The Opposition in the National Assembly on Friday called upon the treasury benches to set with them to find a way forward to address the issue of Panama Leaks.

Taking part in the debate, PTI’s senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated to set up a judicial commission, led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan to probe the issue of Panama leaks.

He said the commission should be assisted by a reputed international forensic audit firm.

Only one cricketer in PCB: NA apprised on team’s failure

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): The National Assembly on Friday was apprised on the Pakistan cricket team’s poor performance in T-20 World Cup, saying, only one cricketer was representing Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management.

“Only one cricketer was representing Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management and its affairs were being run by non-cricketers, majority merely focussing on perks and privileges rather than cricket team’s performance”.

This was stated by the Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada while responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Khalida Mansoor and others regarding poor performance of Pakistan cricket team during the T-20 World Cup.

Two bills introduced, CCI reports laid in NA

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid introduced two bills- the Companies (Appointment of Legal Advisors) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and the Central Law Officers (Amendment) Bill, 2016- in the National Assembly here Friday.

The Speaker referred both the bills to the concerned standing committees for further deliberation.

Meanwhile, Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada laid before the House the Annual Report of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 as required by clause (4) Article 153 of the Constitution.

During a visit to the World Affairs Council of Kentucky/Southern Indiana, he also told his audience that efforts were underway to promote religious harmony.

According to a press release, the Consul General, as part of his series of briefings at think-tanks and Universities of Midwestern US, was at Indian University Bloomington on April 6.

Talking to APP, a PCB official said the members of the governing board have refused to attend the meeting as they were not taken into confidence over some major decisions that the board took in the past few days regarding the Asia Cup and World Twenty-20. Recently PCB dissolved the Haroon Rasheed’s led selection committee.
