Govt working for betterment, uplift of masses: PM

ISLAMABAD, April 28 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said his government was working for the betterment and uplift of the masses, and enabling the people to exercise their fullest potential for progress and prosperity of the country.

He was talking to Azhar Qayyum Nahra MNA from NA-100, and Rana Muhammad Hayyat Khan MNA from NA-142, who separately called on him here at the PM House.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said the present government was committed to improve the living standards of the people of Pakistan.

Khan invited British businessmen to invest in projects of China
Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a very ambitious $ 46 billion infrastructure project.

Addressing annual dinner of Pakistan Society here, the
minister said CPEC is a very ambitious development project which can change the entire country not only economically but politically and geo strategically.

The project is spread over about two years which will provide
China, Central Asian Republics and to some extent even Afghanistan
a corridor which will pass through Pakistan upto port of Gwadar, he added.

RAWALPINDI Apr 28 (APP): Chief of Army Staff, General Reheel
Sharif Thursday witnessed the ongoing maneuver exercise of a Corps, near Jhelum.

The exercise is being conducted in an overall framework of effectively
repulsing enemy offensive through integrated application of artillery, air and combat aviation firepower, ISPR news release stated.

COAS expressed complete satisfaction over the high standard of
operational preparedness and appreciated the professional skills displayed by the participating troops.

Govt eyes set on sustained, inclusive economic growth: Dar

ISLAMABAD, Apr 28 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator
Mohammad Ishaq Dar said on Thursday that after macroeconomic
consolidation, the Government has now its eyes set on sustained and inclusive economic growth of which foreign investment is a key component.

Talking to a 38 member delegation of Consul Generals,
Commercial Counselors and Commercial Secretaries designate
which called on him here, he said trade officers should also make efforts for encouraging foreign investment in Pakistan.

The Minister said export promotion should be their prime
objective and they would receive full support and facilitation from the Government in this regard.

ISLAMABAD, April 28 (APP): Advisor to the Prime Minister on
National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui on Thursday
said hue and cry on the terms of reference (ToRs) of inquiry commission was without any reason.

He said that some elements were targeting Prime Minister with
ulterior motives, though the name of Nawaz Sharif was not included in
the Panama papers. Talking to a TV show he said the whole scenario shows the issue was not the corruption but destablizing the democratically elected government.

He said in the history of Pakistan no body has presented himself
and his family for the accountability. Irfan Siddiqui said that earlier the opposition believed that the Prime Minister would not accept the demand of the commission comprising Supreme Court Judges.

ISLAMABAD, April 28 (APP): Turkish ambassador Babur Girgin on Thursday expressed his keen desire to enhance collaboration between Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu and Associated Press of Pakistan, saying the two could bring their countries more closer.

In a meeting with Managing Director APP Masood Malik here at the APP headquarters, Girgin said Anadolu and APP could highlight the positive contents about each other’s countries through exchange of news items, photographs and videos relevant to public interest.

Girgin said both Turkey and Pakistan suffered the negative propaganda of western media and stressed the need for using media for countering Islamophobia by highlighting the positive perspectives.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 28 (APP): International Monetary Fund (IMF) has
described as “sensible approach” of Pakistan’s view of not seeking another package at this stage after the current $ 6.7 billion three year IMF programme ends in September this year.

Pakistan will be ready to go it alone when its $ 6.7 billion
three year International Monetary Fund programme ends in September, a senior fund official was quoted by Reuters new agency as saying.

Masood Ahmed, director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central
Asia department, told Reuters substantial progress had been made in
repairing Pakistan’s economy and that Islamabad was right to be saying is does not need another package.

Gas companies devise extensive plan to upgrade transmission network

ISLAMABAD, Apr 28 (APP): A spokesman of Sui Northern Gas
Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Thursday clarified that Prime Minister
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the first time inaugurated the construction of three new sui gas supply lines in Hazara Division.

The spokesman said that the construction of three new lines
of 12 inch dia line from Abbottabad to Mansehra, 10 inch dia line
from Mansehra to Uggi and six inch dia line from Mansehra to
Shankiari and Baffa have never been inaugurated earlier at any time.

He said budget for the same has been approved and procurement
of materials has started.

KHUSHAB, April 28 (APP): Chairperson Benazir Income
Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon has said the government
is committed to provide education and improve living standard of women through various BISP schemes.

During a visit to Waseela e Haq Registration Center
here on Thursday, the chairperson said she was visiting Khushab on the directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

She said the BISP data was being used for various schemes,
including Khidmat card, health card, stipend for women, while poor segment of society was availing this opportunity.
