Two Al Qaeda commanders among 8 terrorists arrested

LAHORE, Aug 26 (APP):The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Saturday to have arrested eight terrorists, including two commanders of Al Qaeda.
The arrests were made during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in several cities of Punjab.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Multan.
Two Al Qaeda commanders, Kashaan and Hassan, were arrested in Lahore during the operation. The team also recovered explosives, detonators, IEDs, mobile phones and cash from the suspects.
Other terrorists  have been identified as Liaquat, Gul Karim, Ayub Khan, Ameer Muavia and Rizwan.
Cases had been registered against them and an investigation is underway.
Over 135 suspects were arrested by the CTD in 336 combing operations last week while 16,784 people were interrogated by the law-enforcement agency. The CTD is committed to rooting out terrorism from Punjab, the spokesperson added.

11 people injured in road accident

MULTAN, Aug 26 (APP):At least 11 people including six women sustained injuries due to collision between passenger bus and trailer near China chowk Naag Shah road.
According to Rescue officials, a passenger bus was collided with a speeding trailer near China chowk Naag Shah road.
Upon receiving the information, Rescue teams rushed to the spot and provided first aid to 10 minor injured on the spot.
The bus driver stuck into the bus which was taken out through rescue operation and shifted to Nishtar hospital.
 The driver and helper of the trailer managed to escape from there.
The injured were identified as Fazlan Bibi, Kulsoom Akhtar, Shahnaz, Imrana Kausar, Dil Afroz, Sunny, Jami, Waqar, Rifat and Sabir.

65,000 liters Irani diesel, NCP items worth millions of rupees seized in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 26 (APP):The district police on Saturday claimed to have foiled smuggling attempt recovering 65,000 liters Irani diesel and non custom paid items (NCP) worth millions of rupees here.
According to police spokesman, a police team led by SDPO Sher Ullah Khan along with SHOs Din Muhammad and Rehmat Ullah of Mughalkot and Darazinda police stations foiled smuggling bid and recovered around 65,000 liters of Irani Diesel from an Oil Tanker coming from Quetta.
Meanwhile, the police also recovered NCP items worth Tens of Millions rupees during checking of various vehicles at the check post.
The NCP items included 456 bundles of cigarette packs, one sack of Foreign Koot, one sack of spare parts, two sacks of Laptop Chargers, two Solar Inverter, one carton Spray, two Inverters, 11 Foreigner Tyres, 15 Cartons White Paper, three cartons soap, three submersible pumps, 109 tyres, one carton foreigner injections, two carton glass, 200 sacks Irani plastic bags, 30 sacks dry milk, four roll to-chain cable, 24 cartons cigarettes and 52 cartons of lotions.
Later, the police handed over all the recovered NCP items to the customs authorities

MULTAN, Aug 26 (APP):In an inspiring move towards securing the rights and safeguarding the future of children, Child Protection Bureau Office has been established in Rajanpur.
Under the visionary guidance of Chairperson Sarah Ahmad, the Director General of Child Protection Bureau, Aftab Ahmad Khan, officially inaugurated the newly established Child Protection Unit in Rajanpur. This monumental initiative has been realized in collaboration with the esteemed support of UNICEF and the International Rescue Committee  (NGO).
A prestigious gathering witnessed the historic occasion, including notable figures such as DC Rajanpur Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Director Program Hasnain Khalid, Director Admin Kashif Jalil, and Zahida Manzoor, Child Protection Officer from UNICEF. Shabnam Baloch, Country Director of the International Rescue Committee, along with representatives from the local police force and other distinguished guests, graced the event with their presence.
Expressing his fervent commitment to the cause, Director General Aftab Ahmad Khan reiterated the pivotal role played by Chairperson Sarah Ahmad in this remarkable endeavor. The establishment of the Child Protection Unit stands as a testament to the shared vision for safeguarding the vulnerable children of Rajanpur district.
The collaborative efforts between the Child Protection Bureau and the International Rescue Committee (NGO) are set to create a lasting impact on the lives of children.
