Islamabad Police launch `School Chalo’ initiative

ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (APP): Islamabad Police have officially initiated the “School Chalo” campaign to address the issue of students who are frequently absent from their educational institutions and can often be found wandering in recreational areas and other public spaces.

In a proactive move under the guidance of Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), the “School Chalo” campaign specifically targets students who are found absent from school or college, often seen loitering in recreational areas, markets, and other public spaces identified through the city’s Safe City camera network.

These students are swiftly escorted to various police stations with the support of Dolphin squads and Safe City smart vehicles.

Moreover, during school and college hours, more than twenty students discovered visiting various recreational venues have already been safely transferred to different police stations. Police teams have diligently reached out to the parents of these students and promptly reunited them.

ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has emphasized that students who are absent from educational institutions and found wandering during school hours will be brought to the attention of the authorities.

He further underscored that students represent the nation’s future, and safeguarding their well-being remains of utmost importance.

The Islamabad Capital Police is fully committed to ensuring a bright and secure future for these young individuals.

Energy Minister, Denmark Ambassador discuss energy conservation in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister of Energy Muhammed Ali and Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan Jakob Linulf Thursday discussed opportunities for Green energy initiatives and energy conservation in Pakistan.

During a meeting, the minister and the ambassador also discussed projects and initiatives being carried out under the Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI) and Investment Fund (IFU), a fund for Developing countries in Denmark, were discussed in the meeting.

During the interaction, the opportunities and mechanisms for wind energy in Pakistan were also discussed in detail.

The Envoy said that there has been an increase in the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Denmark particularly in the textile sector.

“The next focus will be on strengthening the bilateral relations in the green and sustainable energy sector. This will extend to the energy conservation measures in Pakistan as well” the ambassador said.

A cross-functional team of the power sector for the future discussion and joint workshop at the Conference of Parties (COP) was proposed. Denmark has been smooth in its transition to sustainable energy.

Denmark’s goal has been to go green and reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and it has led smooth transition in 34.

36 more dengue cases surface in 24 hours

RAWALPINDI, Sep 14 (APP):As many as 36 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 534 in the district.
District Coordinator Epidemic Prevention and Control (DCEPC) Dr Sajjad Mehmood said on Thursday that 21 of the new cases came from Potohar Town Urban, five from Rawalpindi Cantonment, four from Municipal Corporation and three from Chaklala Cantonment.
He said that 98 patients were admitted to district hospitals, out of which 73 were confirmed while 461 were discharged after treatment.
Dr Sajjad said that during the last 24 hours, the district administration registered 63 FIRs for violations of dengue SOPs, issued tickets to 15, sealed two premises and fined Rs 89,000.
During the indoor surveillance, the teams checked 18,145 houses in the last 24 hours and larvae were found in 802 houses.
Similarly, he added that out of 6,036 locations checked, teams found larvae at 122 locations during external surveillance.

CPEC transforms Pakistan’s social economic landscape: Ambassador Haque

BEIJING, Sept 14 (APP)::Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque said that the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project of the Belt and Road (BRI), has transformed Pakistan’s socioeconomic landscape and brought tangible benefits to its people.
“The BRI paved with the principles of peaceful coexistence, good neighborliness, and win-win cooperation has also brought nations together in harmony, transcending differences and working towards shared prosperity,” he told local media during his visit to the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China’s top political advisory body.
The ambassadors and diplomats from 18 countries, including Laos, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan participated in a thematic forum with CPPCC National Committee members to exchange views on the role of consultation in deepening Belt and Road cooperation.
The ambassadors said, “The Belt and Road Initiative China proposed 10 years ago has achieved tangible results and boosted win-win cooperation between China and participating countries.”

PTI’s former MPA booked in three cases

BOUREWALA, Sep 14 (APP):Three cases were registered against former PTI MPA Ijaz Bandisha in the local police station on various charges.
According to an official of Ghal Syal Police Station, FIRs were lodged on the report of Saqib Iqbal, r/o 481/EB, Touqeer Nasir, r/o 481/EB and Abdur Rasheed, r/o 481/EB.
Saqib Iqbal alleged that the former MPA broke his leg along with the accomplices, Altaf and Abbas for displaying panaflex of Malik Nousher Langryal to congratulate him for joining PML-N.
Abdur Rasheed said in another FIR that Ejaz Bandesha snatched his tractor by cheating. Zafar Iqbal and Khizer Hayyat were also booked as accomplices of Ejaz Bandesha for embezzling the tractor, stated Abdur Rasheed.
Touqee Nasir alleged that the former MPA along with Ejaz and Sultan had bulldozed four walls of his house.
All of the applicants moved applications same time against the former MPA belonging to the same locality, 481/EB.

33,006 candidates pass Intermediate exams in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR, Sep 14 (APP):A number of 33,006 candidates out of 57,443 appeared in the first annual examinations of the Intermediate for the year 2023 have passed the examinations, which were held under the supervision of BISE Bahawalpur here on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by the office of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Bahawalpur, “A number of 33,006 candidates out of a total of 57,443 appeared in the first annual examinations of the intermediate has passed the examinations,” it said.
Controller examinations, BISE, Ms. Asma Qasim, and secretary Rao Shamshad announced the results by pushing the button on the laptop with the details about the results.

FIA arrest two illegal money changers

PESHAWAR, Sep 14 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday arrested two illegal money changers from Battagram who were running money exchange business without license.
According to FIA-KP, the accused were also involved in illegal business of Hawala and Hundi as the FIA team recovered receipts related to Hundi reference from them.
A case was filed against the two accused and further investigation was underway.

KP CM reshuffles portfolios of cabinet members

PESHAWAR, Sep 14 (APP):The caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reshuffled the portfolio of five cabinet members, including three ministers, advisor, and a special assistant.
A notification issued here said that Minister for Tribal Affairs Syed Aamir Abdullah has been given the ministries of Industries, Commerce and Technical Education in addition to his ministry.
Similarly, Engineer Ahmed Jan, Minister for Mineral Development Energy and Power has now been given the Ministry of Communication and Works and Irrigation department.
Engr Amer Nadeem Durrani, Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Industries, Commerce and Technical Education has been given the charge of Minister for Public Health Engineering, Local Government and Rural Development.
Advisor to the CM for Communication and Works, Planning and Development and Public Health Engineering Dr Sarfraz Ali has been given the portfolio of Planning and Development, Energy and Power and Minerals Development.
Special Assistant for Irrigation and Housing Zafarullah Khan has been assigned the Housing and Transport and Mass Transit portfolio.

31 shopkeepers sent to jail for selling sugar at high prices

PESHAWAR, Sep 14 (APP): The District Administration during the on-going crackdowns against hoarding of sugar and selling at exorbitant rates had so far sent 31 shopkeepers to jail.

According to office of the Deputy Commissioner, the district administration was conducting raids against sugar mafias on a regular basis to ensure uninterrupted provision of sugar to consumers at the government rates.

District administration on Thursday conducted raids on warehouses and shops on Dalazak Road and sealed one warehouse for keeping 700 sacks of 50 kg sugar in the godown without record.

The district administration had started legal action against the owner of the warehouse.
