ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (APP): Leader of the House in Senate Senator Ishaq Dar Thursday appreciated the contribution of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in highlighting global development challenges and the technical, policy and capacity building support it had provided to Pakistan.
During a visit to the UNCTAD Secretariat along with Senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah and Senator Kamran Murtaza on sidelines of the meeting of World Trade Organization’s Public Forum, he commended that the UNCTAD’s advocacy efforts for addressing systemic imbalances embedded in the global financial architecture including for debt relief for developing countries, fair allocation and enhancement of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) and mobilization of climate finance for disproportionately, affected developing countries, including Pakistan, said press release issued here by the Senate Secretariat.
Deputy Secretary General UNCTAD, Pedro Manuel Moreno briefed the delegation on key tracks of UNCTAD’s work in the areas of technical assistance, research and analysis, and consensus building on key global trade and development issues.
The delegation is attending World Trade Organization’s Public Forum at the invitation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In addition to participation in the Public Forum, the delegation is scheduled to meet several high-level officials of important international organizations based in Geneva.
NEW DELHI, Sep 14 (APP): A group of 127 Pakistani pilgrims on Wednesday attended the annual Urs of great Sufi scholar Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani (RA) at Sirhind Sharif in India and paid their respects.
Pakistan’s Charge d’ Affaires to India Aizaz Khan also joined the 410th Urs to pay his respects at the shrine of 16th century Islamic scholar, who is known for rejuvenating Islam through his writings.
The envoy laid a traditional chaddar on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan.
He thanked the caretaker of the shrine, Khalifa Syed Mohammed Sadiq Raza, and the local administration for facilitating the visit of the pilgrims.
Each year, Pakistani pilgrims attend the annual Urs of Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani (RA) under the framework of the 1974 India-Pakistan protocol on visits to religious shrines.








ISLAMABAD, Sep 14 (APP): To kick start the implementation of the Green Framework Engagement between Pakistan and Denmark, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday hosted the inaugural meeting of the ‘Joint Committee’.
From the Pakistan side, it was chaired by Ambassador Syed Haider Shah, Additional Secretary (UN&ED). The Danish side was led by Ambassador Jakob Linulf, Embassy of Denmark in Islamabad.
The joint committee was also attended by representatives of Pakistan’s relevant technical ministries and departments, including those at the provincial level.
Both sides welcomed the Green Framework Engagement and resolved to take concrete steps to translate it into practical cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy efficiency, green transition, climate change mitigation, and adaptation.
Pakistan and Denmark signed the Green Framework Engagement in August 2022 to deepen cooperation in the field of green and sustainable development. Subsequently, a joint Action Plan was also finalized in June 2023. Implementation of this Framework and the Action Plan would also contribute to Pakistan’s efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
