Islamabad’s Administration establishes designated support desks for overseas Pakistanis: SAPM

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) for Overseas Pakistani Jawad Sohrab Malik on Monday said that Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has established designated support desks for Overseas Pakistanis to provide multiple essential civic facilities with ease through One Window Operation.

On the special instruction of Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar Ul Haq Kakar the Capital Development Authority’s special desk will assist with the transfer of residential plots, approval of building designs, issuance of completion certificates, payment of annual property tax, and quarterly payment of water supply and other miscellaneous payments for Overseas Pakistanis, SAPM said.

Jawad Sohrab Malik said that the government has established new support desks for overseas Pakistanis. The support desks will offer a wide range of services, including assistance with housing, property taxes, and other government services. The goal of the support desks is to make it easier for Overseas Pakistanis to access government services and to increase their trust in the government.

Jawad Malik further said that the official staff from all relevant agencies including CDA, Revenue Department, and Islamabad Police will be present at the support desks to assist and guide Overseas Pakistanis.

SAPM said that the designated support desks services will be extended to other institutions at the federal and provincial levels that offer services to Overseas Pakistanis. This means that overseas Pakistanis can access a wide range of services at the support desks, from all levels of government.

This significant move is expected to increase the trust that Overseas Pakistanis have in the government, adding said it will also help to make it easier for Overseas Pakistanis living to access government services with ease.

The support desks are located in ICT’s Offices at G-11/4 and CDA’s building at G-7/2 Islamabad, which will be open to all Overseas Pakistanis, regardless of where they live in the world.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said that Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has introduced an online feature for applying and verification of International Driving Permit (IDP) to make government services more accessible and user-friendly for overseas Pakistanis and residents. He also encouraged the overseas Pakistanis to take advantage of the City App to access a variety of other services online.

The benefits of the new online procedure, Convenience: the overseas Pakistanis can now apply for and verify IDPs from the comfort of their own homes. The new procedure is expected to reduce the time it takes overseas Pakistanis to obtain an IDP, while the online verification process will make it easier to identify fake IDPs.

The new online procedure for IDP application and verification is a welcome development that will make the process more convenient and efficient for overseas and residents of Islamabad. It is also a positive step towards making government services more accessible and user-friendly, he added.

Respondents submit comments in case pertaining to SC practice and procedure act

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):The respondents in case pertaining to Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023 on Monday submitted written comments to the top court.

Khawaja Tariq Rahim, the counsel for petitioner Raja Aamer, filed the written answer on behalf of his client.

The lawyer prayed the court to dismiss the said act, adding that changes could not be made by the Parliament in powers of judiciary.

It further said that the alleged interference by the Parliament into the powers of judiciary was against the constitutional division of powers.

The parliament could not bring such changes through act in judicial power under Article 184/3.

Khawaja Tariq Rahim said that the full court could itself amend the rules of 1980.

He said that lawyers and journalists could challenge a law on violation of fundamental rights, adding that high courts were not a forum to view the legislations about top court.

Meantime, the counsel for Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) also filed the answer and requested the bench to terminate the cases against the said act.

It said that the said act had made the judiciary more independent, adding that the Parliament had introduced the legislation as per the constitution.

It further said that the law had shared the authority of chief justice of Pakistan with two senior judges.

It may be mentioned here that the top court had sought written answers from respondents in the said case.

Education minister visits NAVTTC, appreciates its projects

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi visited the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to set a briefing about the mandate, and its current projects.

Executive Director NAVTTC Muhammad Aamir Jan briefed the Federal Minister regarding various TVET-focused initiatives and joint ventures of NAVTTC including the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program (PMYSDP) and Takamol Skill Verification Program (SVP) which are playing a vital role in strengthening and enhancing the TVET sector and empowering youth with skills excellence in market-driven fields.

The Executive Director NAVTTC underlined the significance of integration with Provincial TEVT sectors and international partners to transform the TVET landscape in Pakistan at par with international standards.

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training appreciated the efforts of NAVTTC for reforming and strengthening TEVT sectors in Pakistan.

He took a keen interest in Takamol SVP which is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia and NAVTTC for skill testing, certification and promotion to Pakistani Skilled force.

Federal Minister apprised that “NAVTTC can play a more prominent role in the economic role and skill developer of the country by skill the youth with conventional and high-Tech Skills Program”.

ED NAVTTC further shared that their vision is to collaborate with other skill-focused countries to elevate the standard of skills education in Pakistan, ultimately making the Pakistani workforce globally recognized and accepted.

Federal Minister assured his commitment to providing wholehearted support to NAVTTC.

He affirmed his dedication to regularly visiting NAVTTC to further fortify the TVET sector promising future for skill development and education in Pakistan under his leadership.

On Solangi’s request, KP CM approves financial assistance for ailing journalist Zafar Wazir

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan has approved financial assistance of Rs 300,000 for the treatment of journalists from Wana Zafar Wazir.

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Murtaza Solangi had written a letter to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the treatment of Zafar Wazir.

Zafar Wazir has been serving the national media since 2004 and has been suffering from heart disease for some time.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced to bear the expenses of Zafar Wazir’s heart surgery at the request of the federal minister for information.

In this regard, the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approved financial assistance worth Rs 300,000 for the treatment of journalist Zafar Wazir.

KAGHAN, Sep 25 (APP):The picturesque landscapes of Kaghan Valley Monday have begun their transformation into a winter wonderland as snowfall on the towering peaks of the region signals the arrival of the cold season.

The popular tourist destination of Naran also experienced light snow in its hilly terrain, marking the official commencement of the chilly season. This natural beauty attracted tourists to flock to eye-catching locations such as Babusar Top, Malka Parbat, Lake Saif-ul-Mulook, and Makra Top to witness the snow-covered beauty firsthand.

Following the snowfall, Kaghan Valley underwent a remarkable transformation, with its natural beauty accentuated by the spotless white landscape. However, in the plains of Mansehra, clear and sunny weather prevails, offering a sharp contrast to the snowy heights of the upper regions that remain shrouded in clouds.

Last night’s heavy rainfall also knocked on the door of winter in district Abbottabad where temperatures have been considerably dropped. Another spell of rain and snowfall is also expected in the upper parts of the Hazara division which will bring a drastic change in weather.

Concept of delaying cases in top court over from now: CJP

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa Monday remarked that the concept of delaying cases in top court should be considered as over from now.

During the hearing of a case, the CJP remarked a number of cases were pending in the Supreme Court, adding that in any case the respondents would be notified on one date and decision would be taken on next hearing on the arguments.

The top court imposed a fine worth Rs 5,000 against a lawyer for wasting the time of court.

The chief justice said that through this case, this message was for everyone that there would be no delay in the cases, adding that it happened in the rest of the courts that time was given to submit the documents.

He remarked that the Supreme Court was the last forum which already had the record of all decisions of the cases.

 

AC inspects markets, shops to enforce official price

ABBOTTABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Assistant Commissioner (AC) Abbottabad Saqleen Salim Monday while taking action regarding the price control list inspected various markets and shops in Abbottabad city.

According to details, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Khalid Iqbal, AC Saqleen Salim conducted an inspection
of various markets and shops in Abbottabad regarding the Price Control List and those found violating the official price list were sealed. He also instructed shopkeepers to display the official price lists in their shops.

While talking to the media, Assistant Commissioner Saqleen Salim said that the district administration is taking every possible measure for the relief of the public. He said that strict legal action would be taken against those who engage
in artificial inflation or violate the official price lists of the government.

The Assistant Commissioner further said that the district administration of Abbottabad is engaged in the inspection of the markets and enforcement of the official price lists of the food items, fruits and vegetables in the district with the cooperation of the district food controller and district price magistrates.
