HBL PSL gains in stature and wealth

LAHORE, Jan 10 (APP):The HBL Pakistan Super League had yet another historic day on Wednesday when its live-streaming and broadcast rights saw an increase of 113 and 45 per cent for the 2024 and 2025 editions, respectively.
The ARY Communications (Pvt) Limited submitted the highest bid, pursuant to a public tender process, to broadcast HBL Pakistan Super League 2024 and 2025 in Pakistan, which saw a whopping increase of 45 per cent from the value for the last two years.
A public, transparent and merit-based tender process was followed for awarding the Pakistan region PSL TV Broadcast media rights for 2024-2025.
Bids were received from Independent Media Corporation Pvt. Ltd (IMC – the parent company of Geo Entertainment Television Pvt Ltd), ARY Communications (Pvt) Limited (ARY), Pakistan Television Corporation Limited (PTVC) and Tower Sports (Ten Sports).
Meanwhile, Walee Technologies submitted the highest bid, pursuant to a public tender process, to live-stream HBL Pakistan Super League 2024 and 2025 in Pakistan, which sees a huge increase of 113 per cent from the value for the last two years.
The PCB received bids from five parties – Consortium of ARY Communications (ARY, Myco, Daraz and Tamasha), Walee Technologies, TransGroup FZE, Independent Media Corporation Pvt. Ltd (IMC – the parent company of GEO Entertainment Television Pvt Ltd) and Tower Sports (Ten Sports).
The PCB Bid Committee has recommended the highest bids submitted by ARY and Walee Technologies to the competent authority for approval.
Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf: “I want to congratulate ARY, Walee Technologies, the Pakistan Cricket Board, its management committee and the franchises on this historic moment. HBL PSL is a huge brand and it has a massive fan following.
“It is an unprecedented moment as the prices for both of these rights are unmatched. This is a testament to the growth of the HBL PSL brand and we are all waiting for HBL PSL 9 to begin now.”
ARY Digital Founder and CEO, Salman Iqbal: “I am delighted that ARY has once again come out as the highest financial bidder for HBL Pakistan Super League and that fans will be able to watch HBL PSL again on A Sports for the next two seasons.
“My team and I have always prioritised Pakistan and this bid process is another indication of the same where we have gone almost 50 per cent above the value we bid successfully in the previous cycle.
“Together with the Pakistan Cricket Board, ARY will work to further amplify the PSL brand in the next two seasons.”

FIA expert asks people to remain cautious about identity theft

MULTAN, Jan 10 (APP): A senior information technology expert from CyberCrime Wing of the Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) Multan Assistant Director Muhammad Ali Hashmi has urged the people to avoid purchasing SIMs (Subscriber Identification Modules) from makeshift stalls on roadsides to prevent chances of theft of their most precious property i.e their identity to prevent chances of it being exploited by wrong doers on the cyber space.

He was speaking at an awareness session on ‘cyber security and social media crimes’ organized by Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) with its Senior Vice President Nadeem Ahmad Sheikh in the chair on Tuesday night. Veteran and budding industrialists and entrepreneurs including former MCCI president Khawaja Muhammad Hussain, Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah, Naveed Iqbal Chughtai, Adnan Chughtai, Syed Saqib Ali, Pakistan Business Form Multan president Saleha Hassan, Kiran Amjad and others were among the participants.

Hashmi said that social media users or web surfers leave their foot prints on the web space either during simply browsing or making comment, sharing some post or liking it and advised them to be cautious on the cyber space lest they breach some law unknowingly which could invoke the law in case of complaint.

He advised the people to use credit cards or debt cards only at well reputed business places and enter code themselves while hiding it from others’ sight after inserting cards into machine to prevent chances of leakage of their information, which if went into unwanted hands, could cause people financial losses.

A participant on the occasion said that people should keep their credit cards or other bank cards in RFID blocking leather wallets so that no one could scan their cards by scanners. People should avoid sending images of their bank cards, CNICs or other personal details through messaging applications. They should protect their social media accounts and other accounts on web space through two-factor identification, they said.

Muhammad Ali Hashmi asked the people to avoid sharing their private content to any other social media user or any platform to avoid chances of being blackmailed by wrongdoers on cyber space.
He said, at makeshift stall, the people may offer free SIMs but while getting your thumb prints they may have put some paper on the machine to get your thumb print and then use it to get more SIMs in your name and use it for own purposes, criminal activities. That is why, National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has started getting prints of all fingers from people for CNIC issuance and now a days they are working on face recognition technology to make it more secure for the people, he told.

Bahauddin Zakariya Express gets premium dining car

MULTAN, Jan 10 (APP):25 Up/ 26 Down Bahauddin Zakariya Express which runs between Multan-Karachi-Multan got the premium dining car here on Wednesday.
Divisional Superintendent Railways Mehmood Rahman Lakho, along with Deputy DS, Saima Bashir inaugurated a new dining car at Multan Cantt Railway Station.
 Now, passengers will have access to excellent dining facilities, with the upgraded dining car accommodating up to 30 passengers at a time.
The menu includes over 40 dishes, featuring barbecue, fast-food, haleem, mutton, fish and various other options.
This initiative is part of special efforts and a private company S. Jamil Company will operate this dining car.
Soon, new dining cars will be attached to other trains as well.

First ever e-Domicile facility launched in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, Jan 10 (APP):The Home and Tribal Affairs Department KPK, in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board on Wednesday launched e-Domicile services in Abbottabad.
This new system allows residents to effortlessly apply for and obtain domiciles from the comfort of their homes. The inaugural ceremony for the first-ever e-Domicile in Abbottabad unfolded today, featuring the official launch by the Deputy Commissioner of Abbottabad. Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, Ahmed Maghais, was also present at the event.
The primary objective of e-Domicile is to streamline the process of obtaining domiciles, making it more accessible to the general public. With this digital solution, individuals can now submit domicile applications conveniently from their homes.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in conjunction with the Home and Tribal Affairs Department and the IT Board, has taken this significant step to enhance public access to the domicile acquisition process through the implementation of e-Domicile.

Ministry launches crack down on unauthorized Hajj bookings

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10 (APP): The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has launched a crackdown against firms involved in unauthorized Hajj bookings.

Special teams of the Ministry has started punitive action against “Fifth Pillar Family Takaful Limited” involved in illegal booking of Hajj, said the spokesperson of the Ministry here Wednesday.

He said FIA is investigating the fake company for unauthorized activities and actions will be taken accordingly. He clarified that no takaful company was allowed to book Hajj and Umrah.

Be cautious of companies like Fifth Pillar Takaful. Verify their details on the Ministry’s website before booking for Hajj or Umrah, the spokesperson said.
