Power suspension on various feeders notified

PESHAWAR, Oct 03 (APP):Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Tuesday notified that due to maintenance work power supply will remain suspended from Peshawar Industrial Grid Station on 4th October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Subsequently, it said the consumers of Peshawar Industrial grid connected feeders will face inconvenience. The power supply, it said will also remain suspended from Peshawar Cantt Grid Station on 4th October from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The consumers of Saddar Road, Scarp, KTH, Khyber Bank, Islamia College, Airport Road, Commercial, Jahangir Abad and Tehkal Payan feeders will face inconvenience.
The power supply will remain suspended from Regi Model Town Grid Station on 4th October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Resultantly, consumers of Madina Colony, Shahi Maira, RMT, PM Town and Sheikh Yasin Town feeders will face inconvenience. The Power Supply will remain suspended from Kohat Grid Station on 4th October from 8 a.m.to 3 p.m. resultantly consumers of Ghumbat, OTS, Lachi Express, Canal Town, Kohat Express, PCM and Sleeper Factory feeders will face inconvenience.
Moreover, it said that power supply will remain suspended from D.I. Khan Grid Station on 4th and 5th October from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. due to which consumers of Sheikh Yousaf 2 and Sagu feeders will face inconvenience. The power supply will remain suspended from Gomal University Grid Station on 4th October from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Resultantly consumers of Qureshi Mor, Kulachi, Chashma Mill, Anjuman Abad and Sheikh Rajjar feeders will face inconvenience.

KPCIP to modernize water & sanitation service: Minister

PESHAWAR, Oct 03 (APP):Caretaker Minister for Local Government Election and Rural Development Department (LGE&RDD) and Public Health Engineering Department, Engineer Amir Durrani, emphasized that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) is set to revolutionize water and sanitation services delivery in five divisional cities of the province.
He was accompanied by Secretary LGE&RDD Muhammad Dawood Khan. Project Director Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Director Compliance Directorate KPCIP Amir Alam Khan, Director Technical Mian Muhammad Shakeel, and Director Finance Qazi Raees briefed the minister on technical, financial, and social safeguards aspects of the project.
“The rehabilitation and reconstruction of water supply, sewerage, and sanitation systems are align with international standards, bringing significant improvements to the health of our citizens and the environment of our cities,” remarked Minister Amir Durrani during his visit to the KPCIP office in Peshawar on Tuesday.
The project director highlighted key initiatives in Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Abbottabad, and Mingora. He said that KPCIP, funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank with every projects designed with worsening climate change, depleting groundwater levels, and increasing health concerns in mind.
“Under the Swat Greater Water Supply Scheme, water from River Swat will be treated and supplied to the residents of Mingora city,” Syed Zafar Ali Shah said. Additionally, streams and springs’ water will be channeled to a treatment plant near Choona in Abbottabad.
 “The treated water will be distributed through an extensive network of pipelines, reaching every household,” explained Shah. Furthermore, these cities will benefit from modern sanitation and sewerage systems, safeguarding groundwater and freshwater resources from contamination.
Shah highlighted the incorporation of recreational spaces such as parks equipped with open-air gyms, urban forests, benches, car parks, and cycle tracks.
These additions are expected to enhance the overall well-being of the residents and contribute positively to the cities’ environment.
Expressing his optimism, the minister underscored the short- and long-term benefits of the projects and stressed on the timely completion.
“These projects are not only eco-friendly but also generate employment opportunities for thousands while providing green spaces for relaxation,stated Minister Durrani.”
He expressed his satisfaction with the current progress and urged the Project Director to ensure timely completion of the initiatives.

Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf appointed as Chief of Naval Staff

ISLAMABAD, Oct 03 (APP): The President of Pakistan has been pleased to appoint Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf as Chief of the Naval Staff and promoted him to the rank of Admiral.

His promotion to the rank of Admiral will be effective from the date of assuming Command of Pakistan Navy scheduled on 7 October 23, a Pakistan Navy news release on Tuesday said.

Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf will succeed Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi who will relinquish the Command of Pakistan Navy. The Change of Command ceremony will be held in Islamabad.

Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf was commissioned in the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1989 and he was awarded Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal on successful completion of initial naval training at Germany and Pakistan.

During his illustrious naval career, the Flag Officer has served on various Command and Staff appointments. His rich Command experience of over 10 years include; Commanding Officer of a Gun Boat, a Mine Hunter, three Destroyers and Command of 25th & 18th Destroyer Squadrons.

Besides, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf remained Commandant of Pakistan Naval Academy and had the honour to Command Pakistan Navy Fleet. His distinguished Staff appointments include Fleet Operations Officer at HQ Commander Pakistan Fleet, Captain Training at HQ Flag Officer Sea Training, Chief Staff Officer to Task Force-151 at HQ NAVCENT Bahrain, Deputy President National Defence University, Naval Secretary, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Admin), Director General C4I, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Training & Personnel) and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations).

Presently, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf is serving as Chief of Staff at Naval Headquarters.

The Flag officer is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College Lahore, National Defence University Islamabad, Naval Staff College USA and Royal College of Defence Studies UK. In recognition of his meritorious services, the Flag Officer has been awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Basalat.

8 gamblers held; 08 quails, stake money recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 03 (APP):The district police have arrested eight gamblers staking money on quail fight recovering a stake of Rs 31,350 and 08 quails from their possession during a raid conducted here in the limits of Paharpur police station.
According to a police spokesman, a police team led by Paharpur Police Station SHO Khubab Wali Baloch taking action on a tip off raided a gambling place.
During the raid, the police arrested eight gamblers including Waheed son of Ghulam Abbas, Munir son of Raza Muhammad, Noman son of Hafiz Ahmad Gul, Muhammad Saleem son of Mera Bakhsh, Muhammad Ashiq, Ghulam Abbas son of Khuda Bakhsh and Hafeez son of Muhammad Ramzan who were staking money on quail fight. The police also recovered 08 quails and Rs 31,350 stake money from them.
The police also registered a case against the arrested accused.
