ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr Nadeem Jan on Tuesday visited Bhara Kahu Basic Health Center to examine the services being provided to patients.
The purpose of the visit was to take stock of the health facilities being provided by the BHU.
The minister met the patients and inquired about the treatment facilities. He also inspected the immunization facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that improvement in the health sector cannot be made without strengthening the primary healthcare system.
All Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units are being fully operationalized, he said.
The burden of patients in federal hospitals is very high. “We have created an integrated strategy for providing the best medical facilities to the people of rural areas,” he said.
The minister directed the DHO to share details of staff shortage and take practical measures to address the issue.
He also directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of medicines in the BHU.
He emphasized that rural communities should have access to the same healthcare facilities as urban populations.
Health facilities under the Federal Government are being closely monitored, he said.
ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): The Executive Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) on Tuesday devised a practical option, by drawing consensus among stakeholders, to resolve key impediments to the investment environment in the country.
The plans were also finalized to resolve issues related to four key sectors (agriculture, IT, minerals, and energy) besides adding new projects to the forum, said a press release issued here.
The 5th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) began on September 26, 2023, and will continue for two days.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives and attended by the National Coordinator for SIFC, Dr Jehanzeb Khan SAPM (Governance Effectiveness), concerned Federal and Provincial Ministers, and high-level government officials.
The meeting was aimed at reviewing the measures being undertaken for improving the investment ecosystem, overcoming macroeconomic challenges, and stimulating economic growth.
The relevant ministries presented progress on various aspects, including policy-level interventions to be undertaken in the short, medium, and long term to yield the desired dividends.
BAHAWALPUR, Sep 26 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa has said that solid steps should be taken to prevent electricity theft. In this regard, the members of the District Enforcement Committee should work effectively.
He gave these instructions while chairing the meeting of the District Enforcement Committee regarding the prevention of electricity theft in the committee room of his office.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Farooq Qamar, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Naeem Sadiq Cheema, and System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan were also present.
Zaheer Anwar Jappa said that the MEPCO has established committees at the tehsil level to stop electricity theft.
He directed, with the help of the public and MEPCO officers, the district enforcement committee should take legal action related to the cases of electricity theft. If electricity theft is proven, FIRs should be registered against culprits.
The meeting was informed that from September 7 to 25, MEPCO apprehended power theft of more than 385,000 units of electricity during the operation. As many as 269 FIRs have been registered against the power thieves while as many applications have been sent to the concerned police stations.
A total of 190 persons were arrested and a fine of more than Rs 7.94 million was taken.
ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): PAEC Hospital NORI, Islamabad is designated as IAEA “Anchor Centre” to Enhance Member States’ Capabilities in Cancer Research which is a significant achievement.
At a signing ceremony held in Vienna, organized on the sidelines of the 67th Session of the General Conference of the IAEA, Pakistan’s Nuclear Medicine, Oncology and Radiotherapy Institute (NORI) has been designated as an Anchor Centre under the IAEA’s “Rays of Hope initiative”.
On behalf of Pakistan, the Anchor Centre Agreement was signed by Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, Chairman, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) alongside the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, said a news release.
Anchor Centres are designated cancer treatment facilities which work with the IAEA to support and provide relevant expertise in the respective region.
These centres are part of the IAEA’s Rays of Hope (RoH) initiative, which aims to assist Member States in establishing or expanding their capacities in radiotherapy and multimodality medical imaging. Moreover, the designated Anchor Centres will train fellows, organise training courses for healthcare providers, participate in IAEA Coordinated Research Projects, promote networking, and provide experts and mentorship to other radiotherapy and medical imaging centres in their region.
Along with Pakistan, Anchor Centre Agreements with cancer institutes from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Turkiye were also signed during the ceremony.
Within the health sector in Pakistan, the PAEC has used nuclear and other advanced techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous and allied diseases.
It is actively involved in the national cancer awareness, prevention, and diagnosis and treatment program. NORI, one of the 19 cancer hospitals run by PAEC, established in 1983 in Islamabad, is a state-of-the-art facility and the only fully fledged tertiary care cancer hospital of Pakistan specifically designed for diagnosing and treating cancer patients, equipped with state of the art equipment including Cyberknife.
KARACHI, Sep 26 (APP): Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah on Tuesday while chairing a meeting finalized the arrangements regarding 12th Rabi-ul- Awwal.
Speaking on the occasion, he called for effective coordination between scholars, Deputy Commissioners and elected representatives regarding arrangements and providing relief to the people.
He further instructed that people should not be given an opportunity to complain in the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
Regarding the arrangements, he further said that sanitary workers should be provided with new uniforms, dust-bins should be painted and garbage vehicles should be repaired and painted.
On this occasion, while giving a briefing regarding the arrangements, the concerned officers and officials of private companies said that cleaning and sprinkling of lime is going on around all the mosques and procession routes.
Meanwhile, the process of keeping complaint centers active and identifying public complaints to the relevant officers in a timely manner will also continue.
