23 drug peddlers, bootleggers, illegal weapon holders netted
RAWALPINDI, Sep 22 (APP): Rawalpindi police in an action against suspected drug peddlers, bootleggers, illegal weapon holders and other lawbreakers here on Friday arrested 23 accused besides recovering over 16 kg charras, 20 liters liquor, three 30 bore pistols and other items from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that City, Rattamral, Sadiqabad, Morgah, Gujar Khan, Jatli, Rawat, Kalar Syedan, Naseerabad, Race Course, Chontra, Kahuta and Wah Cantt police arrested Allah Rakha, Tahir, Faizan, Shah Nawaz, Rafique, Ali Shan, Mukhtar, Mohsin Ali, Muhammad Ashraf and others and recovered over 16 kg charras from their possession.
Similarly, Westridge, Jatli, Dhamial, Mandra, Sadiqabad, Morgah and Rawat police conducted raids and held Jameel, Wahab, Khurram, Faisal, Shakeel, Irfan and Asim and recovered 20 liters liquor, three 30 bore pistols, ammunition and other items from their possession.
Separate cases have been registered against all accused while further investigations are underway. City Police Officer, Rawalpindi had directed the police officers to accelerate ongoing operations against drug peddlers, bootleggers and other lawbreakers, he added.
Pirwadhai police arrest two robbers, street criminals
RAWALPINDI, Sep 22 (APP): In an operation against criminal elements, Rawalpindi Police have busted a gang and arrested two robbers and street criminals besides recovering over Rs 25,000 cash, weapons and other items from their possession.
According to a police spokesman, Pirwadhai Police arrested two accused namely Amjad and Ahmed Khan, who were allegedly involved in various robberies, and street crime cases.
He informed that the police team constituted under the supervision of SHO Pirwadhai Police Station on the directives of SP Rawal, Faisal Saleem conducted a raid and managed to net the criminals who were record holders. The arrested accused are being shifted to jail for identification parade.
The SP said that the Police were taking strict action in accordance with the law against lawbreakers and criminal gangs.
Caretaker government to create conducive environment for elections: Solangi
KARACHI, Sep 22 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi said on Friday that the government will create a conducive environment for general elections.
During a meeting with Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir, he said the caretaker dispensation will perform its duties according to the constitution and no one will be discriminated.
In the meeting, they discussed important issues including conducting free, fair, and transparent elections and providing facilities to the media during the election process.
The minister said that conducting free, fair, and transparent elections was the common responsibility of the relevant institutions.
He said that media was part and parcel of various stages of the election process as it acted as a bridge for the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Authentic reporting in elections was most important to ensure access to accurate information to the public, Solangi maintained.
Both leaders reiterated their determination to fully cooperate in conducting the elections in a free and transparent manner.
