Punjab finance minister pays tribute to Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh

LAHORE, Aug 14 (APP): Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman on Thursday paid rich tribute to Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), describing him as a towering figure who promoted Islam, public service, compassion and harmony across the subcontinent.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Mehfil-e-Sama held at Data Darbar on the occasion of Urs celebrations, the minister said the saint’s teachings remain an eternal source of guidance, inspiring people to practice love and tolerance in their daily lives.
Provincial Minister for Food and Religious Affairs Bilal Yasin, senior government officials, religious scholars, spiritual leaders and a large number of devotees attended the event.
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said, under the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government had made comprehensive arrangements to ensure dignified and well-organised Urs festivities. He emphasised that the shrine has long been a centre for knowledge, love and unity, values critical to promoting peace and harmony in today’s world.
He further underlined the cultural significance of Urs, stating it is not only a religious and spiritual event but an integral part of Punjab’s heritage and identity.
The Mehfil-e-Sama featured performances by renowned Qawwals, who presented soul-stirring Sufi poetry, Hamd and Na’at, captivating the audience. The event concluded with prayers for peace, security and prosperity of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah. Langar was also served to devotees.
To facilitate visitors, the Auqaf Department and district administration ensured robust security, cleanliness, adequate lighting and other essential services. The Punjab government also established facilitation desks, while the Health Department arranged medical camps and ambulance services on site.

Corps Commander, DG Rangers, IG Police pay visits to Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI, Aug 14 (APP):The Corps Commander Karachi, Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and Inspector General of Police Sindh, on Thursday, paid visits to the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Independence Day Ma’arka-e-Haq.
The Lieutenant General Muhammad Avais Dastgir, Commander 5 Corps Pakistan Army Karachi, during his visit, laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum of the father of the nation, offered fatiha and also inscribed his impressions in the visitors’ book.
Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Muhammad Shamraiz Khan also paid a visit to the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and laid a floral wreath.
On this occasion, DG Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and other Rangers officers offered fatiha and prayed for the eternal peace of the Quaid’s soul and for the progress and prosperity of the country and nation. Later, DG Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book.
The IG Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, separately, paid a visit to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum. The IG Sindh, accompanied by senior police officers, laid a floral wreath and offered fatiha at the grave of father of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

PMLN KP celebrates Pakistan’s Independence Day as Engr Amir Muqam cut cake

PESHAWAR, Aug 14 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here Thursday celebrated the  independence day of Pakistan with great patriotic  spirit and national enthusiasm in the province.
The major function in connection with the independence day was held at PMLN Provincial Secretariat in Peshawar Cantonment with Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam was a Chief Guest. The office bearers of Pakistan Muslim (N) attended the cake cutting  ceremony in large numbers.
Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam also cut the cake of Pakistan Independence Day celebrations and national anthem was played.
The national songs and flag hoisting created a new wave of patriotism.
Addressing the impressive ceremony, Engr Amir Muqam who is also PMLN KP President said that Pakistan was created after a lot of sacrfices by muslims of subcontinent who under the dynamic leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah changed world geography through a peaceful political struggle.
He said people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa have played key role in completion of the great Quaid’s mission for Pakistan.
The Federal Minister said Muslim League has created Pakistan while PMLN made the country’s defense impregnable.
Engr Amir Muqam paid great tribute to former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who set aside all international pressure and conducted six nuclear tests at Chaghi Mountains Balochistan on May 28, 1998.
He said PMLN Govt had never compromised on the security and sovereignty of Pakistan.
Engr Amir Muqam said that Shehbaz Sharif Govt and our brave armed forces led by Field Marshal Chief  of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir gave befitting response to the India’s aggression earlier in May this year
Pakistan showed military superiority in all fields including air, land and sea battles besides on diplomatic front and has destroyed nefarious designs of the enemy.
Engr Amir Muqam said that protest agitation was no solution to the country’s problems and negotiation was a best viable option for addressing any problem.
Engr Amir Muqam said that people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa were fed up with agitation and protest demonstrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where cases of corruption has started surfacing.
Engr Amir Muqam said that people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa were looking towards PMLN for a positive change as it was the only party that can address the province’s problems.

PBF holds ceremony to celebrate Independence Day

LAHORE, Aug 14 (APP):The Pakistan Business Forum (PBF-Lahore chapter) held a ceremony to celebrate Independence Day of Pakistan, bringing together key figures from the business community, government, and civil society to commemorate the country’s rich legacy and progress, here at a local hotel.
Punjab Minister for Finance Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman was the chief guest while Patron-in-Chief of United Business Group (UBG) SM Tanveer and PBF Chief Organiser Ahmad Jawad were guests of honour. PBF Lahore President Sajid Aziz Meer, the forum’s Provincial Chairpersons Talat Suhail, Naseer Malik, and Shabnum Zafar, along with Amjad Chaudhry, President of Lahore Small Chamber of Commerce were also present.
A large number of business leaders from across Lahore attended the event, reflecting the deep patriotic spirit and unity within the business community. The celebration featured a cake-cutting ceremony symbolising national pride and the commitment of Pakistan’s entrepreneurs toward the country’s continued development.
The participants paid tribute to the remarkable success of Maraka-e-Haq, acknowledging the bravery and determination of the nation and Pakistan armed forces in securing peace and stability across the region.
In address, Provincial Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman congratulated the nation on this historic day and appreciated the contributions of the business community in nation-building. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting pro-business policies and economic reforms.
On the occasion, SM Tanveer praised the business community’s resilience and dedication. He said, “Our Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices that built this nation. Today, our responsibility is to translate that spirit into economic strength. The private sector has the potential to lead Pakistan into a prosperous and self-reliant future.”
Sajid Aziz Meer expressed his gratitude to all dignitaries and guests, emphasizing the vital role of the business sector in national development. He stated, “Today is not just a day of celebration, but also a moment of reflection. As we pay homage to our past, we also look forward to a future where Pakistan leads in innovation, trade, and inclusive prosperity.”
PBF Chief Organiser Ahmad Jawad said that Independence Day is a reflection of our unity and national pride. He said, PBF remained committed to advocating for policy reforms, business ease, and inclusive economic development.
The event concluded with patriotic songs, prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity, and a renewed pledge by all participants to work tirelessly for a stronger, united, and prosperous Pakistan.

Sargodha region marks Independence Day and ‘Maraka-e-Haq’ victory

SARGODHA, Aug 14 (APP):Like the rest of the country, the Sargodha region on Thursday celebrated Independence Day and the ‘Maraka-e-Haq’ victory with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.
In Sargodha, grand flag-hoisting ceremonies were held at the Commissioner’s Office and Police Lines. Commissioner Sargodha Jehanzaib Khan Awan, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wasim, RPO Muhammad Shehzad Asif Khan, and DPO Muhammad Suhaib Ashraf attended as chief guests.
The ceremonies began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out police contingent. The police band filled the air with patriotic tunes, while participants joined in cake-cutting and tree-planting to mark the occasion.
Officials, public representatives, community leaders, and media personnel were in attendance. Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner extended heartfelt greetings to the nation and praised the spirit of unity displayed on the occasion.
Similar events were held in Khushab, Mianwali, and Bhakkar districts. In Khushab, the deputy commissioner hoisted the national flag, led a cake-cutting ceremony, and participated in an “Azadi Walk” that echoed with chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Happy Independence Day”.
Throughout the region, government buildings were illuminated, patriotic banners adorned major roads, and roadside stalls selling caps, shirts, and accessories in national flag colors drew large crowds—especially children.
The police implemented comprehensive security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Independence Day celebrated at University of Gujrat

GUJRAT, Aug 14 (APP):The University of Gujrat celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day at Hafiz Hayat Campus with national fervour and traditional enthusiasm.
The day began with special prayers at the central mosque for the country’s stability, prosperity, and development, followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt, accompanied by senior faculty members.
Faculty, students, administrative staff, and their families participated in a parade, patriotic walk, and tree plantation to reaffirm their commitment to a greener Pakistan.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also held. Speakers said freedom is a great blessing and a profound responsibility, urging collective efforts for the country’s progress and dignity.
