ISLAMABAD, Feb 17 (APP):The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting was informed Tuesday that the ministry has proposed 10 Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects worth Rs 6.8 billion for the financial year 2026-27.
The meeting, chaired by Pullain Baloch, reviewed development initiatives planned for departments under the ministry’s control.
Officials briefed the committee that a total of 20 projects costing Rs 15,776.507 million are included in the programme. These comprise 10 new projects worth Rs 6,833.125 million.
The Committee was informed Tuesday that four ongoing projects worth Rs 5,998.455 million will be carried forward into the next financial year, while six projects costing Rs 2,944.927 million are likely to be completed during the current financial year.
The committee, convened under the chairmanship of Pullain Baloch, also directed ministry officials to submit briefing documents on agenda items well ahead of time to allow members sufficient opportunity for review. It instructed the management to devise a policy for payment of pending pension dues in accordance with established procedures and to develop a mechanism for gradually clearing commutation payments to retired employees of Pakistan Television.
The Committee directed the ministry to conduct a review of equipment and infrastructure of its departments, particularly Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television, every five years.
The committee emphasized that infrastructure should be upgraded on a persistent basis to meet modern requirements.
Secretary Ministry for Information and Broadcasting, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, briefed the committee on the agenda. The meeting was attended by Nadeen Abbas, Romina Khurshid Alam, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Ms. Sehar Kamran, and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, who joined online.
