Chairperson BISP visits Payment Campsites in Sindh to check facilities

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Rubina Khalid made significant visits to the Benazir Income Support Programme payment campsites in Bachal Shah, Sukkur, and Babarloe, Khairpur on Monday. 
The purpose of these visits was to personally monitor the payment disbursement process and to inspect the arrangements and facilities provided for women beneficiaries receiving their Kafaalat and Taleemi Wazaif stipends, said a news release.
During her visit, Rubina Khalid interacted with the women beneficiaries, listened to their concerns, and personally guided the needy and elderly women in receiving their cash amounts. Recognizing the need for efficiency, she directed the officials to increase the number of Point of Sale (POS) agents at the campsites to reduce the waiting time for the beneficiaries.
Following her inspections, Chairperson Rubina Khalid addressed the media, emphasizing the commitment to transparency in the disbursement process as directed by President Asif Ali Zardari.
“We have established these payment campsites to ensure transparency in the mechanism of payment disbursement,” she stated. “We are heading towards a better payment mechanism and soon we will be able to open bank accounts for these beneficiaries for direct payments, minimizing human involvement.”
She also highlighted the importance of skill development and technical education for BISP beneficiaries to help them overcome poverty. She mentioned ongoing collaborations with institutions like the Pakistan Overseas Foundation and NAVTTC to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, she stressed the need for the media to create awareness among beneficiaries that only women who receive a message from the BISP official number 8171 should visit the campsites to collect their stipend.
She also advised all women to ensure they receive their full amount of Rs. 10500/- along with the bank receipt.
In her directives to bank representatives and BISP staff, she emphasized the importance of transparency and maintaining the dignity of women during the payment process. “There will be no compromise on misbehavior or any kind of such complaint. This institution is linked with the sacred name of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto,” she firmly announced.
Director General Sindh, Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, along with other officers of BISP, also accompanied Rubina Khalid throughout the visit to payment campsites of BISP in Sukkur and Khairpur.
Later, Rubina Khalid visited the mausoleum of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohterma Nusrat Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, laid floral wreath and recited Fateha.

Aleem emphasizes need to realizing investment agreements with China

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP): Minister for Privatization, Investment Board, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Monday emphasized the critical importance of realizing all memorandum of understandings signed with Chinese companies to fully tap into the trade and investment potential between the two countries.

He chaired a follow-up meeting on the recent visit to China and commended the diligent efforts and performance of the relevant officials from the Board of Investment, said a press release.

Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, who also attended the meeting, praised the efforts of the officials concerned for their successful visit to China.

Abdul Aleem Khan urged for a proactive approach and innovative solutions to expedite the investment process, aiming to attract foreign investments for sustainable economic growth and development in the country.

He instructed the establishment of a database within the Board of Investment containing details of the China visit, along with ensuring the preparation of a profile to facilitate investments in the country.

Highlighting China’s interest in investing across various sectors of the economy, the minister stressed the importance of seizing this opportunity by facilitating investors.

Furthermore, the minister directed the Board of Investment to establish permanent business desks in different Chinese cities, as well as expedite the process of bringing Chinese companies for joint ventures and investments.

Abdul Aleem Khan disclosed that approximately 31 MoUs were signed, with progress being made by around 1,000 prominent Chinese companies during the recent visit.

Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce and the Board of Investment will form working groups to engage Chinese companies for initiating joint ventures.

NA passes four bills including PBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):The National Assembly here on Monday passed four bills including “the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024.”
Moving the bill, Federal Mister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar said the PBC Amendment bill is aimed at giving more autonomy to the board of Radio Pakistan to improve its governance and performance.
The other bills passed by the house including, “The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024”, “The Pakistan Postal Services Management Board (Amendment) Bill, 2024” and “The National Highway Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024.”

AJK PM vows to use tax money for people’s welfare

MIRPUR-AJK, Jun 10 (APP):Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq on Monday pledged to use tax money to improve the lives of the common man.
Speaking at a reception in Dheerkot, the AJK PM said his government’s goal is to provide good governance and ensure that tax money would be spent on people’s welfare.
The government has made significant progress, turning a 16 billion rupee loss into a 32 billion rupee profit.
A significant portion of 19 billion rupee, had been utilized for road development without any corruption.
The AJK PM emphasized the need to end politics based on caste, class and tribe.  He expressed hope that development works will be expedited soon, stressing the importance of tolerance, wisdom and strong institutions.
The government had collected an amount of 11 crore rupee taxes annually and the AJK PM warned that failing to fulfill the state responsibilities would be a sheer violation.
He advocated for peaceful resolution of all genuine issues. He was of the opinion that protest is not the solution of any  problem.  The AJK PM reiterated his belief in the slogan “Kashmir Banega Pakistan” and urged an end to civil war.
The event was also attended by various government ministers.

CS chairs meeting of Bird Hazard Control Committee

PESHAWAR, Jun 10 (APP):A meeting of the Bird Hazard Control Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Monday.
Air Vice Marshal Sajjad Noori, Additional Chief Secretaries, concerned Administrative Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners including Air Force, Police, Civil Aviation and other officials participated in the meeting.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary said that birds, aerial firing and kite flying in the areas adjacent to the airports can cause air accidents which cause damage to the national exchequer.
Airports are our national assets and protecting precious lives and national asset  is our collective national responsibility. We have to implement ban on flying of kites, elimination of littering, use of laser beam, ban on aerial firing and pigeon rearing from around all airports to protect our national assets.
On this occasion, Air Vice Marshal Sajjad Noori said that many times birds collide with the planes during the flight, which causes damage to the planes, and more measures need to be taken to prevent this.
During the meeting, the officials of Pakistan Air Force while giving a briefing presented data on the damage caused by kite flying, high laser beam, bird strikes, and aerial firing and the preventive measures taken in this regard in collaboration with the civil administration.
On this occasion, the CS issued orders to the relevant authorities and said that strict action should be taken against those who use kite flying, pigeon flying, aerial firing and laser beam users to prevent such unpleasant incidents and protect assets at airports. Special arrangements should be made for cleaning in the areas adjacent to airports.
On this occasion, instructions were also issued to conduct an awareness campaign. In the meeting, it was also decided to ban the use of high laser beam in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera and Kohat, while on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, special attention should be paid to the cleaning of garbage and animal wastes around the airports along with other areas.

Hot weather likely in most parts of country: PMD

ISLAMABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
While very hot weather is expected in central/southern plain areas.Partly cloudy weather with light rain/thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during evening/night.
According to the synoptic situation, continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country. 
A shallow westerly wave was present over northern parts of the country.
During the last 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed over other parts of the country while very hot in southern parts. 
However, rainfall occurred in Kakul 14mm, Hyderabad 09, Jhang, Lasbela, Rawalakot 02 and Bagrote 01mm.
The highest temperatures recorded were Bhakkar 47C, Jacobabad, Sibbi 46, Mohenjo-Daro, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Khairpur, Noorpur Thal, Rohri and Sukkur 45C.
