More rain-windstorm/thundershower likely at various parts of country: PMD

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain-windstorm/thundershower in Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, south/upper Punjab, Pothohar region, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Heavy falls are likely at isolated places in northeastern/south Balochistan, upper Sindh, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast Punjab, Pothohar region and Kashmir.

As per synoptic situation, strong monsoon currents,continuously penetrating from Arabian Sea in central and southern parts of the country, entered into the upper parts.

Torrential rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Loralai, Sibbi, Harnai, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Jhal Magsi, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Panjgur, Jacobabad, Qamber Shahdad Kot, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujrat and Kashmir on 05th and 06th August.
Heavy downpour may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur and Khairpur.

Landslides may cause road closure at the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet period.

During the last 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershower occurred in Punjab, Sindh, eastern/southeast Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Chilas 43C, Nokkundi, Bunji 42 and Dalbandin 41C.

Deputy PM to attend OIC meeting on Palestine issue

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (APP):Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will visit Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to participate in the Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee being held on 7 August 2024.

The meeting is being convened at the request of the State of Palestine and the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestine and other regional states.

As one of the staunchest supporters of the Palestinian cause, Pakistan has always been at the forefront in raising its voice at all international fora, including the OIC.

At the Extraordinary Meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s serious concerns about the dire situation in Gaza and the wider Middle East region. He will emphasize the urgency of peace and provision of relief assistance to the people of Gaza.

On the sidelines, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other OIC member states.

Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir rally held in Murree

RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP):In connection with Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, a rally was organized on Monday from GPO Chowk to Chinar Chowk by Punjab Arts Council Murree, against the Indian atrocities and injustices in IIOK. A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the protest walk.
The speakers at the rally said that August 5, 2019 was a dark day when the dark face of India was exposed to the world. They said that 5 August would always be remembered as a black day in history.
Participants of the rally were holding placards with slogans against indian atrocities written on them. A large number of students were also raising slogans to express their solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Later, in the auditorium of Punjab Arts Council, Murree, the students of the school presented a tableau in solidarity with Kashmiri people.Deputy Director Murree Arts Council Anam Khalid, Assistant Director Ahmed Raza, Assistant Director Muhammad Ashraf Mekan and well-known columnist Aslam Khokhar and teachers of the school were also present on the occasion.
Anum Khalid in her address to the participants at the show, said that the whole nation expressed their solidarity with people of Kashmir on Youm-e-Istehsal. She said that India has been continuously denying the Kashmiris’ recognized right of self-determination.
“Presently occupied Kashmir has turned into the biggest prison in the world, and the true face of India, the so-called biggest democracy in the world, has been exposed”, she said.

Pakistan raising voice on all int’l forums for Kashmir’s plebiscite: Qaiser

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (APP):Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on Monday said that Pakistan was effectively raising its voice on all international forums for Kashmir’s basic rights to self-determination.
In a special message regarding Exploitation Day, the minister urged the international community to pressurize India to impede human rights violation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir (IIOJK). India was perpetrating Kashmiris’ genocide for last seven decades, he maintained.
He said that five years had passed since India unilaterally and illegally revoked the special status of IIOJK. After the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, India’s oppression and injustice on the Kashmiri people was continuing, he added.
He said that Kashmiri people were rendering countless sacrifices against Indian tyranny and barbarism. The Pakistani government always strongly condemned the steps taken by India over the last five years to undermine the disputed status of Kashmir, Qaiser Sheikh added.
The minister said that Kashmiris were being deprived of their basic rights and every kind of freedom. “Genocide of Kashmiris under Indian legal occupation and suspension of fundamental rights should be a matter of concern for the international community, he concluded.

Education ministry engage 195 drivers, 200 conductors for FDE School buses

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP):Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in order to meet the shortfall of drivers and conductors in schools/colleges, engaged 195 drivers and 200 conductors through third party outsourcing.
According to the Education Ministry, these drivers and conductors will be available for deployment from 7th August.
Since 2017, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) had not available the additional position of drivers and conductors.
“This time we have out sourced this function to third party through open and competitive process. So Ministry and FDE are  out from individual hiring and contracting.  Now every vehicle for ICT schools will be functional” the ministry added.

Steering Committee of ‘The Art of Parenting’ National Policy Meets

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP):The steering committee of “The Art of Parenting” conference, chaired by Nilofar Bakhtiar, held a meeting at the Aga Khan Foundation office to discuss the launch of the manuals “Parwarish” and “Agoosh” and the way forward for the implementation of the project.
In her welcome address, Chairperson Nilofar Bakhtiar lauded the contributions of stakeholders and highlighted the success achieved so far, including the government’s keen interest in youth development.
She welcomed the Asia Foundation on board and emphasized the need to fast-track the training of trainers and implement the plans across Pakistan.
The committee discussed the division of responsibilities, including the translation of manuals into Urdu and digitalization for outreach, dissemination, and mobilization of the community. Members also discussed the importance of considering provincial and zonal cultural differences during the implementation phase.
The meeting concluded with a clear plan of action, including the first phase of trainings and the changes to be inculcated for community mobilization. The committee is committed to working together to ensure the successful dissemination of the manuals across Pakistan, with the support of provincial and district governments.

LAHORE, Aug 05 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) prominent leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Rana Atiq Anwar has said that under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan is vigorously highlighting the Kashmir issue on every forum.
Talking to APP, he described August 5, 2019, as a dark day in history. This date is observed by Kashmiris worldwide as Kashmir Exploitation Day (Youm-e-Istehsal).
Rana Atiq Anwar noted that the Indian government’s actions on August 5, 2019, which sought to abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, were contrary to the United Nations resolutions. He criticized India for its decision to strip the region of its special status, a move he described as a misguided attempt to undermine the rights of the Kashmiri people. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have overwhelmingly rejected this action.
He further stated that this day is observed as Black Day in protest against India’s illegal actions and its attempt to revoke the region’s special status. The ongoing oppression in occupied Kashmir, which has lasted for 75 years, has resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians.
Rana Atiq Anwar condemned India’s plan to alter the demographic makeup of the region, asserting that such plans will never succeed. He accused the Indian government of intending to perpetrate genocide against the Muslim population in occupied Kashmir and emphasized that numerous UN reports have repeatedly highlighted human rights violations committed by India. He called on the United Nations and international bodies to press India to cease its ongoing atrocities.
Rana Atiq Anwar reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep geographical and fraternal ties with the Kashmiri people. He assured that under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan will continue to advocate for Kashmir’s cause on every platform. Pakistan’s support for the people of Kashmir will remain unwavering, he concluded.

WASA to construct 3 underground water storage tanks

FAISALABAD, Aug 05 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to construct 3 major underground water storage tanks for immediate drain out the rainwater in Faisalabad.
Presiding over a meeting here on Monday, Deputy Managing Director Engineering WASA Saqib Raza said that WASA had evolved a comprehensive strategy for immediate removal of rainwater from city areas. In this connection, 3 main underground water storage tanks would be construction. Paper work of this project had been started and it would be completed on war-footing up to May next year, he added.
He said that these tanks would be constructed near Dijkot Road, Tata Bazaar Factory Area and Iqbal Stadium so that waterfall in these areas could be drained out immediately and stored in these tanks. The stored water would be later on used for irrigation of various parks, he added.
He also reviewed various developed schemes under Annual Development Program and said that after release of funds, the pace of these schemes would be expedite for their early completion in addition to up-gradation of WASA disposal stations.
Director P&D WASA Hafiz Hassan Nasir, Director Construction Usman Lateef, Ali Ahmad Gill, Deputy Directors Sanwal Malik, Nauman Noor, Furqan Haidar, Hayat Randhawa and Faizan Shakoor were also present in the meeting.

3 dacoits arrested, illegal weapons, cash recovered

FAISALABAD, Aug 05 (APP):Batala Colony police claimed to have arrested three dacoits and recovered illicit weapons, cash and other items from their possession.
Police spokesman said here on Monday that Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) on a tip-off conducted raid near Sohail Abad graveyard and succeeded in nabbing three outlaws of a gang including Akhtar, etc. who were wanted to the police in a number of dacoity, robbery and other cases.
The police recovered illegal weapons, cash, mobile phones and other items from their possession while further investigation was under progress, he added.

IHC summons DIG Rawalpindi regarding Bushra Bibi cases

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday summoned DIG Operations Rawalpindi in personal capacity in a petition seeking cases details against PTI founder’s wife Bushra Bibi.
The court directed the police official to appear before it on August 7.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case filed by Bushra Bibi regarding the matter. During the proceeding, the court noted that it was also the decision of Lahore High Court (LHC) that a person arrested in a case would be considered arrested in all cases registered against him. It couldn’t happen that if the accused is released or acquitted he would be arrested in another case, it remarked.
Petitioner’s Lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa said that his client has been included in cases related to the riots of May 9. It has been said in one case that the investigation is not started yet but the custody of the accused is required, he said.
The lawyer said that all 11 cases against Bushra Bibi were related to May 9, incidents.
The court said that then let it summon the DIG Operations Rawalpindi to ask the status of these cases. The court adjourned the case till August 7.
