PHA’s monsoon tree plantation in full swing

SARGODHA, Aug 03 (APP):A monsoon tree plantation drive under Parks and Horticulture Authority is in full swing in the Sargodha city.
According to PHA media consultant Shafqat Awan, employees of the authority under the leadership of Director General Syed Tauqeer Haider Kazmi are striving to make city green as per the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz sharif.
Tauqeer Haider Kazmi said that the authority had set up a nursery to provide different plants to citizens at affordable rates and generate more revenue for the department. He said, ”Green Punjab is the destination of all of us and civil society, students and youngsters should actively participate in this plantation drive and make it successful.”
The DG said that severe weather effects could be controlled only with the help of the forests.  Due to rapidly expanding housing societies, natural forests and trees are being lost and that is why a sharp temperature rise was recorded during the last few years. He further said that PHA Sargodha is well aware of its responsibilities and playing its due role in providing a green environment to the citizens.
The monsoon tree plantation campaign organized by Parks and Horticulture Authority Sargodha would continue for two months and saplings would also be distributed among citizens to make it a success, he added.

CCPO orders early completion of investigations

LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized the need for enhanced coordination and mutual cooperation among departments to expedite ongoing investigations.
He was presiding over a meeting at his office on Saturday to review the performance of the Investigation Wing. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of pending case challans and ensuring their timely completion.
The CCPO Lahore issued directives to relevant officers to expedite the submission of pending challans. He stressed that any lack of interest in duty would not be tolerated and there is no room for negligence or delay within the police department. He warned that wrongful arrests of innocent individuals would not be tolerated and instructed supervisory officers to review the performance of Investigating Officers (IOs) on a daily basis.
The CCPO also highlighted that providing immediate relief to those seeking justice is important and will help  improve the police’s positive image. He reaffirmed the importance of thorough investigations to ensure that the accused receive appropriate sentences. Divisional SPs, DSPs, and In Charges Investigation attended the meeting.

69 criminals of 18 gangs held with Rs 22m worth of stolen property

MULTAN, Aug 03 (APP):Organized Crime Unit (OCU) of CIA and Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) of Multan police arrested 69 criminals belonging to eighteen (18) gangs and recovered Rs 22 million worth of valuables during their anti-crime operations.
SSP Operations Arsalan Zahid and SSP Investigations Rana Muhammad told a news conference here Saturday that two important wings of police also ensured recovery of valuables  including a tractor, nine (9) cars, three rickshaws, 28 motorcycles, 36 solar plates, eight mobile phones, and over Rs 3.3 million in cash. These valuables were returned to their actual owners today.
The operations also yielded recovery weapons including two Repeaters, a 44 bore Kalashanakov, and fourteen (14) 30 bore pistols.
The OCU smashed 10 gangs by arresting 41 criminals and recovered valuables worth Rs 12.3 million while AVLS teams arrested 28 accused smashing eight (8) gangs and recovered valuables worth Rs 9.8 million.
Their commendable effort helped police resolve 135 cases, senior police officers said.
The two wings operated on special instructions from CPO Sadiq Ali under supervision of SSPs Arsalan Zahid and Rana Muhammad Ashraf. CPO commended SSPs besides OCU DSP Rao Tariq Pervaiz, DSP AVLS Syed Azhar Raza Gilani, Incharge OCU Mirza Husnain, Incharge AVLS Nasarullah Sumbal and other team members for success in anti-crime operations.

PU HCBF gets 3-acre land on Quaid-e-Azam Campus

LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) received approval for 3 acres of land in the University’s new campus for the establishment of HCBF Quaid-e-Azam Campus.
Principal HCBF Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta said that the new campus will not only continue to offer ongoing undergraduate and graduate degree programs but also introduce newly approved programs, including BS Islamic Banking & Finance, MS Islamic Banking & Finance, MS Public Finance & Policy, MS Business Analytics and MS Sustainability Management. 3 terrorists arrested in Punjab

LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three terrorists during 78 intelligence-based operations in different cities of Punjab.
According to a CTD spokesman, the operations were carried out in Faisalabad, Jhelum, Chakwal, during which the main commander of Daesh was arrested from Faisalabad. The CTD also recovered explosive materials,  three detonators, eight feet safety fuse wire, two IED bombs, bullets and weapons, mobile phones and cash from the terrorists. The terrorists have been identified as Abdul Wahab, Saifullah, Khurram Abbas. The terrorists wanted to spread fear and panic among people at different places.
About  506 suspects were arrested during 952 combing operations this week, while 32,056 people were questioned in combing operations, the spokesman added. The CTD is following the goal of a safe Punjab and is determined to root out the scourge of terrorism, he added.

KP Governor pays rich tributes to police force on Martyrs Day

PESHAWAR, Aug 03 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Faisal Karim Kundi here Saturday paid glowing tributes to the police force of Pakistan on the eve of Police Martyrs Day, which would be marked on Sunday with great respect and admiration.
The Governor said that observance of the day was aimed to a knowledge the great sacrifices of the police force for defense of Pakistan, and praised the dedication, commitment and services of its officers and jawans who laid down lives for the protection of motherland.
In a message on the eve of Police Martyrs day to be observed on August 4, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor said, “we should also remember the families of the police martyrs who lost their loved ones for our safe and prosperous future.”
Faisal Karim Kundi said the day remind us of the selfless duties and supreme sacrifices offered by the police martyrs who immortalized themselves for the defence of Pakistan.
“Police martyrs are our real heroes, and the entire nation held their sacrifices in high esteem.”
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor said that live and civilized nations always remember their martyres in high esteem and present tributes to their supreme sacrifices.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that like other security forces, police officers and jawans of Khyber Pakthunkhwa have also led from the front in fight against terrorism and sacrificed their lives in line of duty.
Despite limited resources, he said that KP police have fought all kinds of threats including terrorism with bravery and steadfastness and destroyed the nefarious designs of the inimical forces.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that our valiant police force had played key role in establishment of peace and law and order besides security to VIPs and laid great sacrifices in fight against terrorism and foiled many terror attacks with their bloods.
The Governor said that police was playing key role in protection of lives and properties of citizens besides fighting against all dangers including terrorism with the spirit of shahadat.
He said it was the spirit of shahadat that our police started battle against terrorism without any fear as evident in recent incidents of terrorism and have frustrated the evil designs.
The Governor said that it was now our duty to keep our police martyres’ remember throughout the year  and reassured their families that they are not alone and the entire nation are with them.
He said the best tributes to our police martyres to keep their sacrifices remember always and work tirelessly for progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Hepatistis A is endemic, childhood infection in developing world; experts

MULTAN, Aug 03 (APP):Hepatitis A is usually a self limiting illness caused by hepatitis A virus and enterically transmitted.
Senior Family Physician, Dr Imran Rafiq told this news agency on Saturday that Hepatitis A virus with heavy worldwide distribution, is associated with overcrowding and poor sanitation and is endemic in the developing world where it is an infection of childhood.
In developed countries, he stated,  incidence increases village epidemics are associated with food and waterborne transmission certain groups are at increased risk.  The virus is usually transmitted via the faeco oral route for though outbreaks have been associated with contaminated blood products, the senior family family physician informed.
 Subclinical infection is common in children more than 90 pc of age less than 5 years, he said adding that  acute hepatitis occurs more frequently with increasing age symptoms include fever, headache, pain in the whole body, loss of appetite vomiting weight loss, dark colour urine and pale stool. Occasionally, diarrhoea ,cough flu or pain in joints of the body may occur most commonly while in children physical findings include jaundice, enlarged liver and spleen, Dr Imran explained.
 Treatment in acute hepatitis is always symptomatic. The doctor advises  to avoid Paracetamol and alcohol. In case the patient is not conscious then the patient must be referred to a hospital where the consultant specialist physician should treat the patient, he maintained.
Prevention from the disease passive immunization cooled immunoglobulin (Gamaglobulin) was previously the mainstay of prophylaxis in travelers to endemic regions, he said and added that  There are concerns that decreasing antibody level may not be to confer protection and the duration of protection is short lived. Immunoglobulins are now only used for post exposure  and for non-vaccinated individuals who will be in a high risk region in less than 2 weeks.
Active immunization… several inactivated hepatitis A virus vaccines exist and these have largely superseded the use of immunoglobulin, Dr Imran informed. Two doses  of HAV are given at zero and 6..12 months and  it provides protection for at least 10 years, he stated.
 Indications for immunization include travelers to endemic areas, intravenous drug users, regular recipients of blood products and high risk employment, he concluded.

11 die, 1424 injured in road accidents in Punjab

LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):At least eleven persons were killed and 1424 injured in 1313 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 575 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 849 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams thus reducing the burden of hospitals.
Furthermore, the analysis showed those 741 drivers, 60 underage drivers, 172 pedestrians, and 522 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 312 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 353 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Multan 87 in with 92 victims and at third Faisalabad with 86 RTCs and 83 victims.
According to the data 1183 motorbikes, 64 auto-rickshaws, 138 motorcars, 25 vans, 11 passenger buses, 23 truck and 105 other types of auto vehicles and carts were involved in the road accidents.

It has been decided to convene the meeting of the Punjab Assembly on August 11, for which a summary has been prepared. A resolution related to Minority Day will be presented in the meeting.
