President pays tribute to martyred Lt Uzair Malik

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday expressed grief over the martyrdom of Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik who had sustained injuries in an attack on forces in Tirah valley.
In a statement, he condoled with the bereaved heirs over the martyrdom of Lt Uzair Mehmood Malik.
He paid tribute to the martyred army officer for sacrificing his life while defending the country.
The President expressed determination to continue operations against the terrorists.
He prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyred and for patience for the bereaved family.

PM pays tribute to martyred army officer

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik on his martyrdom after sustaining injuries in an operation against Khawariji terrorists in Tirah valley few days back.
In a statement on Sunday, he prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyr and patience for the bereaved family.
Lt Uzair Mehmood Malik while leading the army jawans eliminated four Khawariji terrorists, he said adding the officers and jawans of Pakistan army were removing the Al-Khawarij fitna from the Pakistani soil.
He said, “he and the whole nation pays tribute to the brave officers and jawans of Pakistan army.”
He said Pakistani nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the army in the war against terrorists.
“Our martyrs and their families are pride of the whole nation,” he added.

Youth is future of Pakistan; Rana Mashhood

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that youth comprising 65 percent of the population was the future of Pakistan.
Talking to APP here Sunday, Mashhood said the young generation can play a major role in the prosperity and stability of the country and Pakistan has a talented youth and has a pivotal role in advancing the country towards fast-paced development.
“We are dedicated to preparing our youth to excel in diverse fields, from technology-driven industries to traditional crafts. This holistic approach will enable them to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s socio-economic development,” he added.
The Chairman PMYP added that youth were misled in the recent past from the right path, “We know what is happening in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and Yemen; where youth is on the street, unemployed and without education.”
The same attempt, he said was also made here to destroy Pakistan but Pakistan under the slogan of Azm-e-Istehkam” or the Resolve for Stability has a comprehensive plan showing Pakistan’s commitment to securing long-term stability including economic, diplomatic and security components to achieve a stable and prosperous Pakistan.

Mayor highlights contributions of religious minorities on National Minority Day

SUKKUR, Aug 11 (APP):On National Minority Day, Barrister Arslan Sheikh, Spokesperson to the Sindh Government and Mayor of Sukkur, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of religious minorities in Pakistan and pledged ongoing commitment to their rights and equality.
In a heartfelt message issued on Sunday, he emphasized the significance of the day in the national calendar, marking a reaffirmation of the principles championed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. “This day urges us to strive for the protection of the rights of followers of all faiths and to integrate them fully into national life,” he a.
Reflecting on historical precedents, he noted the efforts made by Muslims throughout the country’s history to uphold minority rights. He highlighted the Pakistan People’s Party’s recognition of minorities’ substantial contributions to the socio-economic development of the nation.
“As equal citizens of Pakistan, we share our joys and sorrows,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of unity in diversity.
The mayor reiterated that National Minority Day serves as a reminder of Jinnah’s vision, underscoring the significant roles played by non-Muslim communities in the creation of Pakistan and nation-building endeavors. Celebrations took place across northern Sindh, where religious minorities came together to honor their contributions, services, and sacrifices in the nation’s history, he maintained.
He concluded by stating that the observance of this day is a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to unity, declaring, “Despite our different faiths, we are one nation, striving towards a united and prosperous Pakistan.”

17 dead, 1332 injured in 1245 RTCs in Punjab

LAHORE, Aug 11 (APP):At least seventeen persons were killed and 1332 injured in 1245 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 622 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 710 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams thus reducing the burden of Hospitals.
Furthermore, the analysis showed those 715 drivers, 60 underage drivers, 134 pedestrians, and 500 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 285 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 319 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 90 in with 95 victims and at third Multan with 64 RTCs and 66 victims.
According to the data 1085 motorbikes, 60 auto-rickshaws, 121 motorcars, 30 vans, 16 passenger buses, 30 truck and 96 other types of auto vehicles and carts were involved in these road traffic accidents.

Arrival of 800 companies from 70 countries to boost country’s economic image: Commerce Minister

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Sunday said that the arrival of 800 companies from 70 countries to Pakistan would boost the country’s reflection in the international markets.
The minister said that things were rapidly improving and especially the arrival of 800 companies from more than 70 countries to Pakistan was encouraging and good omen, said a press release issued here.
Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan while addressing the 9th Footwear Manufacturers Association Show, said the present government intends to increase investment in the country and for this purpose, we are making serious efforts to put more investment.
The Minister for Commerce said that the energy crisis would have to be dealt with for the promotion of commercial activities, as well as the ease of business and issues related to FBR had to be resolved.
Addressing on the occasion, Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said that the positive results had also been started to emerge and the participation of more than 800 investors and companies from 70 countries in the recent conference in Karachi was proof of this. He said that our companies should market their brands to other countries in a good manner and take positive steps keeping in view the competitive atmosphere, international standards and modern trends.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that the bilateral partnership of Pakistani companies and Chinese institutions had been already started through mutual investment while there was sufficient scope for export of leather industry, footwear and sports goods for which the Board of Investment would provide all kinds of facilitation.
He said that China and Pakistan can prove to be a big market for each other in various products and the Ministry of Commerce is providing full support to the investors of both countries in the light of the orders of the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Federal Ministers Abdul Aleem Khan and Jam Kamal Khan inspected the products displayed in the 9th Pakistan Footwear and Manufacturers Show and appreciated the standards of Pakistani companies where 25 prominent Pakistani and Chinese companies participated. China Association invited Federal Ministers Abdul Aleem Khan and Jam Kamal Khan to visit China.
Later, they participated in the B2B meeting between Chinese and Pakistani companies where they said that the visit to China last month led by the Prime Minister had been very beneficial and the Pakistani Embassy in China had increased the number of Commercial and Trade Officers up to 20 in order to promote trade activities between the two countries.
Senior persons of Chinese companies presented shields to the federal ministers and appreciated their cooperation.
Responding to questions in media briefing besides the 9th Footwear Manufacturers Association Show, Abdul Aleem Khan said that the privatization of PIA was progressing smoothly, 6 companies have been shortlisted and the date of October 1 has been fixed. The loss of 100 billion will be saved and the citizens will get an international standard airline, he added.
The federal minister said that all the state owned enterprises in deficit would be privatized as doing business was domain of private institutions and not the government.

BHCC to celebrate Independence Day with national spirit and fervor

HYDERABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Besant Hall Cultural Center (BHCC) in collaboration with the Sindh Indigenous and Traditional Crafts Company (SITCO) would celebrate the 77th Independence Day with national spirit and fervor on Wednesday (August 14).

In this connection, a colorful ceremony will be held in the Center at 11 a.m.

The Commissioner Hyderabad division Bilal Ahmed Memon will join the celebrations as the chief guest.

Director BHCC Sobia Ali Shaikh informed that various activities, including flag hoisting, craft stalls, jumping castle and art exhibition would be part of Independence Day celebrations.
