Match officials for Shaheens-Bangladesh A series named

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced match officials for the Pakistan Shaheens’ home series against Bangladesh ‘A’, which includes two four-day and three 50-over matches from August 13 to 30.

Nadeem Arshad will lead the Playing Control Team (PCT) for the 13-16 August and 20-23 August matches, while Iftikhar Ahmed will be the match referee for the three 50-over matches on 26, 28 and 30 August, said a press release.

The umpiring responsibilities in the five matches will be shared between ICC/PCB International panel Umpires, Faisal Khan Aafreedi and Rashid Riaz, and PCB Elite Panel Umpires, Abdul Moqeet, Imran Jawed, Nasir Hussain, and Waleed Yaqoob.
All the seven officials are part of the PCB Elite Panel of Match Officials.

August 13-16– Pakistan Shaheens vs Bangladesh ‘A”. Faisal Aafreedi and Imran Jawed (on-field umpires), Zulfiqar Jan (third umpire), Nadeem Arshad (match referee).

Azadi Float warmly welcomed in Gujar Khan

RAWALPINDI, Aug 11 (APP):After departing from Rawalpindi on the morning of the first day of its journey on Sunday, the ‘Azadi Float’ made its first stopover at Gujar Khan where it received a warm welcome from the public on it’s arrival.
A large number of citizens were present at the general bus stand to welcome the float to the beat of drums and tunes of national songs, where a colorful ceremony was held.  A horse dance was also performed on this occasion.
Former MNA Raja Javed Ikhlas was the chief guest of the event. During his address he said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has emerged as a powerful voice of national unity.
“The models of important buildings of all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have been shown in the float”, he said adding that people have been taught love and brotherhood through Azadi float and the message was being spread throughout Punjab.
Raja Javed Ikhlas said that the Muslim League has the honor of being the creator party of Pakistan and whenever the Muslim League (N) government has come into power, the country’s problems have been solved.
He assured that despite issues of inflation, electricity prices hikes etc., the nation would get rid of all the problems under the leadership of PML (N).
He said that facing challenges and getting the country out of difficulties is the history of the PML-N. ” We will accomplish this challenge once again”, he said.
Local folk singers performed national songs in the event.  The float was flagged off from Rawalpindi on Saturday night in a grand ceremony.

Ministry to hold ‘Health Week’ in Islamabad from August 12

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):The Ministry of Health has announced a Health Week initiative scheduled from August 12 to August 17 to improve healthcare access for the slum areas of Islamabad.
According to Health Ministry Spokesperson Sajid Shah, this initiative will see the establishment of health camps aimed at providing essential medical services to the residents, with a particular focus on the health of mothers and children.
Under the directive of the Federal Secretary for Health Nadeem Mahboob, at least 10 health camps will be set up across various areas in Katchi Abadis in Islamabad. These camps will be staffed by doctors and paramedical personnel who will ensure the delivery of necessary healthcare services to the local community.
“Health awareness activities will focus on the well-being of mothers and children during this week,” stated federal Health Secretary Nadeem Mahboob. In addition to healthcare services, the health camps will also provide safe drinking water, with water purification tablets distributed to residents to ensure hygiene standards are met.
To further support the community, residents will also receive medications designed to protect against mosquito-borne diseases, along with malaria prevention drugs to boost immunity. “We are committed to bringing medical facilities to the doorstep of the marginalized population,” Mahboob emphasized.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Health will oversee the management of these health camps to ensure their effectiveness and accessibility. This initiative marks a crucial step toward improving health outcomes in some of Islamabad’s most underserved areas, reflecting the government’s dedication to addressing healthcare disparities among its citizens.

NCHR holds consultation on minorities rights to marks National Minority Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) here on Sunday commemorated National Minority Day by organizing a stakeholder’s meeting to focus on the protection and promotion of minorities rights in Pakistan.
The meeting featured key stakeholders, including representatives from minority communities, legal professionals and human rights advocates and was marked by a series of insightful discussions highlighting critical issues affecting minorities. In light of the discussions, a conference for legal professionals was proposed to draft specific family laws for minority communities.
After opening remarks by Member Minority NCHR Manzoor Masih, Secretary NCHR Rana Ghulam Murtaza highlighted the gap between existing legal frameworks designed to protect minority rights and their ineffective implementation.
Pandit Rakesh underscored the historical contributions of minorities to Pakistan’s development, stressing the importance of the NCHR and other commissions in overcoming ongoing challenges.
Ranjeet Singh, former MPA from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), raised concerns about the financial exploitation of underprivileged minorities in KPK, particularly through “interest traps” that disproportionately affect these communities.
Waheed from the Pakistan Partnership Initiative (PPI) brought attention to the alarming issue of forced conversions and underage marriages, highlighting difficulties in age verification and alleged corruption among NADRA officials.
Advocate Saima Khokhar highlighted the absence of codified laws for family court proceedings and inheritance within minority communities. She proposed a dedicated conference involving legal professionals to address these legal gaps.
Former MNA, Asia Nazir emphasized the need to incorporate Quaid-e-Azam’s August 11th speech on minorities rights into the educational curriculum and addressed the rising extremism affecting minorities. Nazir also voiced concerns over the non-implementation of quotas for minorities in higher education.
Dr. Shoaib Sadal, Chairperson of the One Man Commission (OMC), provided an update on the 5 percent employment quota for minorities. He reported significant progress, with 18,000 out of 31,000 positions filled through the OMC’s efforts, including a special CSS exam held in 2023. Dr. Sadal encouraged further community investment in education, citing the Hazara community’s successful initiative to establish high-quality coaching centers.
The consultation concluded with the address of Manzoor Masih, who reiterating the NCHR’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding minority rights. He emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and action to ensure the protection and promotion of minorities rights in Pakistan.

District authorities welcome gold medalist Arshad Nadeem

KHANEWAL, Aug 11 (APP): Senior officers of district and regional departments visited the gold medalist Arshad Nadeem and congratulated him for his dominating performance on his arrival at his native city Mian Channu on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali Bukhari, on behalf of the Commissioner Multan Division Maryam Khan, presented a bouquet to the national hero and passed congratulations and good wishes to him. The District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal Ismail Kharrak and City Police Officer (CPO) Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar also presented Arshad Nadeem bouquet and congratulated him on his arrival at his native city Mian Channu.
Later, the hero reached his native town Village 101/15-L with a VIP protocol where a large number local people and civil society members were present to welcome Arshad Nadeem.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Muhammad Ali Bukhari said that Arshad Nadeem had made the nation proud through his performance. He said that all government officers were here to warmly welcome the national hero as per directives of the provincial government.

Minorities most protected community in Sindh: CM

KARACHI, Aug 11 (APP): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that the minorities were the most protected community in Sindh.

While congratulating the minorities on the National Minorities Day, he said that Sindh was the land of Sufis, which had given full representation to minorities in every field of life.

Murad Ali Shah said that minorities had played an active role in the development of Sindh. He further said that Sindh was the province where there was no difference between minority and majority.

FESCO shutdown programme for Monday

FAISALABAD, Aug 11 (APP):The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has issued shutdown programme for Monday for necessary repair, maintenance and expansion of electricity lines.
According to the programme, power supply from Maddoana, new Satiana and al-Mehmood feeders linked with 132-KV Satiana grid station, Abdullah Shah Shaheed feeder attached with 132-KV Lalian grid station, Tariq Abad feeder connected with 132-KV OTP grid station and Shadman feeder originating from 132-KV Tariq Abad grid station will remain suspended from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. while Gojra Road (Naradada), Jalal Abad, Sain Wazir Ali, Katchery Bazaar, 466 Road, Salooni Jhal, People’s (Sharif Abad) and Rasiyana feeders linked with 132-KV Sammundri grid station will observe shutdown from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday (August 12).
Similarly, electricity supply from City Tandlianwala, Best Chipboard, Mahi, Tayyabah Town, Jhamra and Raza Abad feeders attached with 132-KV Tandlianwala grid station will also remain suspended from 7 a.m. to 12 noon on August 12, 2024.

Türkiye, Pakistan agree to boost up business activities, Investment

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):Türkiye and Pakistan have agreed to boost up business activities and investment in various fields by enhancing mutual trade and promote economic activities.
It was decided in a Round Table Business Conference co-chaired by Trade Minister of Turkey Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat and Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
Deputy Trade Minister of Türkiye Mustafa Tuzcu, Ambassador in Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci, Presidents of Chambers of Türkiye were also accompanied while prominent business community figures from Pakistan joined this session.
Federal Minister for Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan while addressing the Pakistan- Türkiye Business Round Table Conference said that the brotherhood, mutual cooperation and friendly relations of Türkiye and Pakistan span decades and these two countries have already entered into economic and joint business agreements.
He added that Pakistan wants to promote bilateral investment and business ties in various fields with Türkiye because it is prime time to increase the economic activities between Türkiye and Pakistan.
He welcomed the interest of the business community from Türkiye and said that it would benefit both countries and all possible support will be provided.
Turkish Minister of Commerce Prof. Dr. Omer Bolat said in his address that the economic and business relations and bilateral partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye are going to be in a new beginning as Türkiye will also ensure all possible cooperation for Pakistan in all circumstances.
Turkish business leaders purposed that in various sectors including infrastructure bilateral investment can be increased.
Representatives of Pakistan’s main commercial institutions welcomed Türkiye’s proposals and said that Türkiye can develop better with its modern machinery and Pakistan with its raw materials.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi called on Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
He told that the Pakistani Embassy in China is fully active especially the Commercial Section is working day and night.
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan while appreciating the services of Pakistani Embassy in China said that we have to ensure all possible support to Chinese companies.
He said that the arrival of more than 100 Chinese companies in Pakistan for the first time in business sector is a good omen and now both the countries will further promote B2B activities.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that there will be investment from China in various important projects including Textile, Plastic, Surgical and Footwear, while “Joint Ventures” may also take place in construction, as well.
Abdul Aleem Khan further said that Chinese companies have to be provided all possible cooperation by Pakistani institutions and Government Authorities while holding a joint business session between Chinese and Pakistani companies will bring more positive effects.
