Religious Affairs ministry finalizes results of National Seerat, Naat, Articles Competition

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):The Apex Committee of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has finalized the results of the National Seerat, Naat, and Articles Competition.

The distinguished contributors in the field of Seerat writing will be honored with awards on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal next month.

The Apex Committee, comprising educationists and Islamic scholars, convened at the Ministry under the chairmanship of former Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman, Dr. Qibla Ayaz. The meeting was attended by other committee members, including Dr. Jamila Shoukat, Dr. Riaz Majeed, Dr. Yousuf Farooqi, Dr. Muhammad Baqir Khan Khakwani, Dr. Muhammad Sajjad, Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq Yasin, Dr. Mohiuddin Hashmi, Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Dr. Munazza Batool, and Dr. Ayesha Qurat-ul-Ain.

During the meeting, the initial results of the competition were presented to the committee. A total of 169 books were received in various categories, including those written in the national language Urdu, regional and foreign languages. In addition, 117 articles were submitted on the topic “The Education System of the State in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him).”

After a thorough review of the scores and recommendations provided by the judges’ committee, the Apex Committee finalized the results. The distinguished works would be recognized in a special ceremony next month.

Dr. Syed Ata-ur-Rehman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, attended the meeting as a special guest and expressed gratitude to the Islamic scholars for their support. The committee members appreciated the ministry’s efforts to promote the Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) and suggested that next year’s essay topic should focus on climate change and environmental protection in light of the Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him).

Governor Kundi praises forces for  effective strategy in thwarting militants  attempt

PESHAWAR, Aug 20 (APP):Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Tuesday praised the security forces for their effective strategy in thwarting an attempted incursion by terrorists at the Pak-Afghan border, resulting in the death of five militants.
He expressed deep respect for the three security personnel who laid down their lives in defense of the nation. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved, praying for the departed souls in eternal peace.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi saluted the bravery and courage of the security forces tasked with protecting the national borders.
He commended their spirit and high morale in ensuring peace and combating insurgent threats, acknowledging their significant role in maintaining stability and security in the region.

Ambassador hints at initiating direct flights from Kazakhstan to Skardu

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin on Tuesday said that a direct flight from Kazakhstan to Skardu, a beautiful region of Gilgit-Baltistan, could not be ruled out, which would enhance bilateral tourism.
He said :”International flights have started recently from Skardu International Airport, after which we have an opportunity to increase bilateral tourism by starting this one-hour duration direct flight from Kazakhstan to Skardu.”

The Ambassador told APP that the ‘International Tourism Summit ‘would also be organized by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Skardu.
 He said that people-to-people relations of two countries would increase with this air connectivity initiative, which was the backbone of all relations, in addition to enhancing bilateral relations.
He said that for the promotion Pakistan Kazakhstan and Central Asia relations, there was a need to increase economic integration and enhance land and air links.
The envoy said that mutual diplomatic, economic and trade ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan were being strengthened with time.
He said that a bilateral agreement has been reached for the promotion of transit trade and a lot of progress has been made on this, which would strengthen the economic ties and trade between the two countries.
Yerzhan Kistafin said that there was a need to exchange business delegations in order to enhance bilateral relations.
The ambassador said that there was a need to work on the potential in Gilgit-Baltistan including conventional tourism, medical and cultural adventure tourism, mining and precious stones, minerals and natural resources, hydro-power, agriculture including fruits and food and water resources and other sectors.
Yerzhan Kistafin said that the northern region of Pakistan was rich in natural beauty in which 6 major mountain peaks of the world were located.
To a question, he said that bilateral trade was far below its potential and more work was required in this regard.
The ambassador said that the role of the private sector was imperative to increase cooperation in the field of tourism for which the business community of both countries must play their due role in this regard.
He said that Pakistan and Kazakhstan were bound in historical, religious and cultural relations that covered many dimensions.

Tajik investors call on minister

LAHORE, Aug 20 (APP):A delegation of investors, led by Ambassador of Tajikistan Sharifzada Yosif Toir, met Provincial Minister of  Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain here on Tuesday.
During the meeting it was agreed to enhance bilateral trade cooperation. Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) CEO Jalal Hassan, Additional Director Marketing Sharqi Tipu and other relevant officers were also present.
Provincial Minister of Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that there are excellent opportunities and favorable environment for investment in Punjab. Many foreign investment companies will soon invest billions of dollars in Punjab. The production of electric vehicles is the top priority of the government. Tajikistan  should  review cooperation in production of electric vehicles, he added.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that government is trying to set up an assembling plant for bullet-proof vehicles in Punjab. Handicrafts shops will also be set up at all airports.
He said that the work of upgrading the institutes, courses and labs of TEVTA is going on. In addition to Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic and German language courses have also been started in TEVTA institutions. In the future, Tajik language course will  also be started.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that for the first time in the history of the province, an audit of TEVTA for the last 6 years is being conducted. There is a large industry of furniture, shoe and fans in Gujarat. A  furniture college will be set up in Gujrat this year.
He said that the best facilities will be provided to foreign investors in the garment city  being built in Quaid-i-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura.
Ambassador of Tajikistan Sharifzada Yusuf Toir said that they were ready to cooperate with Pakistan and Punjab  in every sector including green energy, technical education, textile and industry. There is a great demand for furniture in Tajikistan, Punjab can send furniture and fans. Punjab should fully participate in the furniture exhibition to be held in Tajikistan in October, and the Tajik government will give all possible support.
The ambassador said that Punjab can send 500 skilled people to Tajikistan for the textile sector. Tajikistan and Pakistan are brotherly Islamic countries and both have the same civilization and culture.

OTTAWA, Aug 20 (APP): The Pakistan High Commission, Canada-Pakistan Association (CPA), and MP Yasir Naqvi hosted a Pakistan Independence Day celebration at Parliament Hill Ottawa uniting the Pakistani diaspora and Canadian nationals of Pakistani origin in shared pride and joy.

This event marked a significant moment as it brought together a large gathering of the Pakistani diaspora and Canadian nationals of Pakistani origin, united in their shared pride and joy for our homeland.

In his address, Acting High Commissioner Faisal Kakar extended heartfelt congratulations to the Pakistani community in Canada on the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. He reflected on the monumental Pakistan Movement, led by the visionary Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which culminated in the creation of a sovereign nation where we could live with dignity, freedom, and equality.

Kakar lauded the Pakistani diaspora in Canada for their unwavering dedication and contributions, which have played a pivotal role in strengthening the bonds between Pakistan and Canada.

He emphasized that the Pakistani community has not only fostered greater understanding and cooperation between the two nations but has also been instrumental in showcasing Pakistan’s positive image on the global stage.

He also took the opportunity to draw attention to the ongoing plight of our Kashmiri brethren in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to stand in solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their just cause, urging the international community to fulfill the promises made to them and to uphold their right to self-determination.

This celebration was not just a commemoration of Pakistan independence but also a reaffirmation of the shared values, unity, and the enduring spirit of Pakistanis, both at home and abroad.
