Governor attends event at Malaysian Consulate

KARACHI, Aug 24 (APP):Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori attended an event at the Malaysian Consulate, organized in collaboration with the Consumer Association of Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Kamran Khan Tessori emphasized the exemplary friendly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
He highlighted that the exchange of information technology between the two nations is fostering a deeper understanding of each others’ cultures.
Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori urged Malaysian investors to explore various sectors within the province, emphasizing the importance of the highly educated, experienced and hardworking young workforce available for investment opportunities. He also mentioned that the relentless efforts of the current leadership have led to the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which is providing comprehensive support, assistance, and facilitation to both domestic and international investors for economic stability.

IG Punjab meets families of Kacha Machka’s martyrs

LAHORE, Aug 24 (APP):Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar met with the families of the police martyrs of Kacha Machka incident.
Senior officers, including Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, accompanied him.
During the meeting, the IG Punjab extended his condolences to the grieving families of the
martyred.
He expressed that the nation honours and salutes those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Dr Usman Anwar also shared a moment of compassion with the martyrs’ children, stating that nothing can replace the invaluable sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for the nation.
He assured that the families of the martyrs were part of the police and will not be left alone.
He emphasized that the support and care of the martyrs’ families was the responsibility of the police.

“Hub Rally Auto-Cross Race” held

KARACHI, Aug 24 (APP):The “Hub Rally Auto-Cross Race” was organized here in Karachi following its success in Balochistan and Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori attended the event as the chief guest.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the event held at DHA City, Governor Tessori congratulated all the winners and expressed pleasure over the successful conduct of the race in the city. The event was attended by the Japanese Consul General, the rally organizers and other dignitaries.
Governor Kamran Khan Tessori shared that he had suggested to the organizers during his participation in the car race in Balochistan that such an event should also be held in Karachi. He expressed gratitude to the organizers for fulfilling his request and was informed that the event would now be held annually in Karachi.
The governor inspected the track in a car and praised the arrangements made by DHA City. He also encouraged drivers with commendations for their excellent performance on the track.
At the closing ceremony, Governor Sindh distributed prizes among the winners. A total of 65 participants from across the country, including two women, took part in the Hub Rally Auto-Cross Race.

Governor receives 100 Laptops from Dawoodi Bohra Community

KARACHI, Aug 24 (APP):Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has received 100 laptops for IT students, generously donated by the Dawoodi Bohra community. The laptops were delivered to the Governor House by Kamil, the administrator of Burhani Palace.
It is noteworthy that the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, had announced this donation for IT students.
Earlier, a delegation from the Dawoodi Bohra community met with Governor Kamran Khan Tessori at the Governor House. The Chief Executive Officer of Indus Motor, Ali Asghar Jamali, was also present on the occasion.
Governor Tessori expressed gratitude to Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, stating, “It is not just the laptops that have been received, but their love as well.” He further commended the Dawoodi Bohra community for their concern regarding the elimination of Pakistan’s debt.

Kristin Hawkins readies to bask in Lahore’s magic for another year

LAHORE, Aug 24 (APP):Reflecting on the first anniversary of her diplomatic duties in the province of Punjab, US Consul General to Lahore Kristin K Hawkins has said that she eagerly looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties between the United States and Pakistan through economic development, educational opportunities and preservation of rich cultural heritage during her second year as Consul General to Lahore.
In a message on the eve of her first anniversary as the Consul General here on Saturday, she reiterated her resolve to foster people to people ties, adding that “I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to spend this past year savoring Lahore’s delicious food, exploring city’s rich culture and history, and building connections with a wide range of impressive Pakistanis.”
Reminiscing on the year spent in Lahore, she said: “Before I moved to Lahore as Consul General from Islamabad last summer, friends often reminded me of the proverbial phrase about the amorphous city ‘Jinnay Lahore nahin wekhya o Jamaya nahin’ (You are not born if you have not visited Lahore),” adding that she was not only celebrating her first anniversary but her birthday of the life in Lahore also.
Hawkins further said over the past year, under the leadership of US ambassador Donald Blome, the US Consulate in Lahore expanded and strengthened partnerships between the United States and Pakistan across Punjab, focusing on economic development, educational opportunities, and preservation of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
She said during the last 12 months, the US had awarded scholarships to over 1100 students in Punjab to hone their English language and leadership skills which will improve their job prospects, adding that the US Consulate launched a US 500000 dollars initiative to enhance entrepreneurship training at 15 universities across Punjab.
“I am inspired by the way US companies in Punjab are creating high quality jobs and inclusive workplaces,” Consul General Hawkins said.
Hawkins said the US government had supported sports and leadership opportunities for girls at high schools and universities across Punjab, established Lincoln Corners in Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, Sargodha, and Vehari besides the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs. She said the upcoming sixth Lincoln Corner at the Quaid e Azam Library Lahore will further enhance these efforts by providing free resources and learning opportunities to the community.
“The United States is committed to supporting young Pakistanis in achieving their dreams and having a prosperous future,” Hawkins said.
Thanking people of Punjab, the US Consul General said, “I have received such a warm welcome across the province whether engaging with the resilient Christian community in Jaranwala, visiting Multan’s iconic shrines, engaging in an interfaith dialogue at Lahore’s Badshahi Mosque, or visiting Gurdwara Nankana Sahib.” She said “the United States is committed to supporting freedom of religion and interfaith harmony as well as preserving Pakistan’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.”

CTP chalk out traffic plan for Chehlum processions

RAWALPINDI, Aug 24 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have chalked out  a comprehensive traffic plan for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
To manage traffic during the processions, a total of 215 officers, including 5 DSPs, 48 Senior Traffic Wardens, and 162 Traffic Wardens and Assistants, have been deployed across the city.
Special arrangements have been made to ensure traffic flow smoothly on alternate routes.
On the day of Chehlum, Iqbal Road from Committee Chowk will be closed to all kind of traffic.
Significant diversions will be in place at key locations. Traffic entry towards College Road will be closed at DAV College Chowk, and vehicles will be diverted as the mourning procession reaches Naya Mohallah.
Similarly, traffic will be diverted from Gawalmandi to Dhoke Kumhar and Bhosa Godam, with further diversions in place at Cinema Chowk, directing vehicles via Ganjmandi Road.
Additionally, traffic will be ply at Shahallah Ditta Road towards Dhok Dalal, TB Hospital, Pirwadhai, and Asghar Mall.
Traffic from Bakery Chowk will be diverted towards Bani Chowk and Link Road, leading to Liaquat Bagh via Saidpur Road, Circular Road, and Murree Road.
Hamilton Chowk and Banswala Chowk will also face traffic restrictions, with vehicles being directed away from Jamia Masjid.
At Peer Chauha Chowk, traffic heading towards the old Imambargah Baltistania will be completely blocked.
During the Satellite Town procession, diversions will be enforced at multiple locations, including Imambargah Yadgar Hussaini, New town Police Station, Punjab College of Commerce, and other significant points.
These measures are aimed at maintaining order and ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi, Benish Fatima, emphasized the importance of teamwork and vigilance among all officers. “All officers and traffic wardens must stay alert and work together to ensure that traffic flows smoothly on alternate routes and that the traffic plan is fully implemented,” she stated.

Five SPs transferred in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has issued transfer and posting orders of as many as five Superintendents of Police (SPs) here on Saturday.
According to a notification, SP Security, Khan Zeb, (PSP/BS-18) transferred as SP/Saddar Division. Pari Gul Tareen,(PSP-BS18), who was awaiting for posting, was posted as SP/Soan Division.
Similarly, Shahzad Akbar, (PSP/BS-17) SP/I-Area Division (in ops) transferred as SP/City (in ops).
Ali Raza (PSP/BS-17) who was serving as SP/Dolphin & Patrolling (in OPS) was given the charge of SP/I-Area Division.
Hakam Khan, DSP/BS-17 was transferred and posted as SP/Security, Discipline and ATS (Operations Division).

PM’s Coordinator Romina Khurshid condoles demise of Express News BC Amir Ilyas Rana’s mother

In her condolence statement, she said that she was deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Amir Ilyas Rana’s mother.
She expressed her support with the family of Aamir Ilyas in this hour of grief. She prayed that May Allah grant the deceased a place in Jannah and grant him patience and courage to bear her irreparable loss.

Muqam visits Alpurai, announces support for school

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam visited Government Centennial Model High School Alpurai, Shangla, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and announced support for the school’s reconstruction and talented students.
Engineer Muqam praised the school’s achievements despite limited resources, highlighting the immense talent of children living in the mountains, said a press release.
He vowed for speaking with relevant authorities for the school’s reconstruction and announced a cash prize of three lakhs for talented students from his own pocket.
The event was attended by hundreds of students, who warmly welcomed the guests.
Engineer Muqam also appreciated the hard work of the school’s principal and teachers, acknowledging their role in the school’s success.
During his visit, Engineer Muqam also inaugurated a new feeder at Alpurai, completed at a cost of 32.45 million, which will solve the area’s low voltage problem.
He later recited Fatiha for late Dr. Fazal-e-Rabi in Chakesar and met with various delegations at Tehsil, issuing instructions to relevant authorities to address their concerns.
Engineer Muqam also performed Fatiha in Tehsil Puran and Buner district, meeting with party workers in the latter.

CDA chairman oversees renovation work at Jinnah Convention Center ahead of SCO meeting

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, reviewed the ongoing renovation work at the Jinnah Convention Center on Saturday, as preparations intensify to complete the project before the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.
The renovation work, being carried out under the supervision of expert architects, aims to upgrade the convention center to international standards.
The project includes the renovation of the main hall, committee rooms, complete flooring, paint and glass work, and upgradation of furniture and carpets.
The Chairman was briefed on the progress of the renovation work, which is being carried out non-stop, day and night.
The upgradation project also includes tree planting, horticulture work, and lighting to enhance the landscaping around the convention center.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of completing the renovation work before the SCO meeting, which will be hosted at the Jinnah Convention Center.
The event is expected to attract international delegates, and the upgraded facility will showcase Pakistan’s capabilities in hosting high-profile events.
The CDA is working diligently to ensure that the renovation work is completed on time, meeting international standards, and providing a world-class venue for the SCO meeting and future events.
