KTrade becomes Multan Sultans official investment partner

MULTAN, Jan 31 (APP):A leading stock trading platform, KTrade, formerly known as KASB, has joined Multan Sultans as the official investment partner for the ninth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League, which commences on 17 February.
That this is the first instance of a capital markets firm from the Pakistan Stock Exchange sponsoring any top-flight cricket team underpins the popularity of Multan Sultans, the champions of the 2021 edition and the most successful team in the history of the tournament.
Multan Sultans General Manager Hijab Zahid said that they were extremely delighted to have KTrade on board.
Through this partnership, cricket is tapping into a new industry in Pakistan, which will prove to be beneficial for the game and the stock and commodity brokerage industry.

Multan Sultans will begin their HBL PSL 9 campaign on 18 February when they play Karachi Kings at the Sultans Fort (Multan Cricket Stadium).

COMSTECH’s training course in Histopathology kicks off on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31 (APP):Five-day extensive training course in histopathology kicked off on Wednesday at Benadir University in Mogadishu under the auspices of COMSTECH and Benadir University in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Coordinator General COMSTECH, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary through his online delivered welcome remarks said, “I congratulate the rector of Benadir University for taking the lead in organizing the first event of COMSTECH in your institution”.
He said that in Africa, histopathology assumes particular significance due to the high prevalence of infectious diseases, tropical illnesses, and other emerging health challenges.
He said that the accurate diagnosis of conditions, ranging from infectious diseases to cancers, is essential for effective healthcare management.
Prof. Choudhary mentioned that the availability of trained histopathologists in the African region is rather limited.
There is a pressing need for investment in the capacity building of histopathologists to build local expertise.
Prof. Choudhary said that the world-renowned histopathologist and COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar, Prof. Dr. Shahid Pervez is leading this comprehensive training course of histopathology for the capacity building of Histopathologists of Somalia and Africa.
He said that his team includes Dr. Nasiruddin, Associate Professor of Histopathology, and Dr. Zeeshan Uddin, Assistant Professor and Consultant Histopathologist, at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan.
He expressed confidence that the participants of this 5-day training course will benefit immensely from these experts.
The inaugural session was also addressed by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Hassan, and the Dean, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohamud Ali, of Benadir University.
Prof. Hassan thanked COMSTECH for organizing this very important training course and said that this event marks an important milestone in our pursuit of excellence in medical education, training and research.
The Rector said that the knowledge of histopathology is key in the field of diagnosis of diseases.
Prof. Shahid Pervez said that without histopathology, medicine is blind.
He said that histopathology is very crucial in the diagnosis of lab tests.
He emphasized that the role of histopathology solely depends on the skills and knowledge of the practitioners, which can only be achieved through learning and continuous reading.
About 100 practitioners of histopathology and allied fields are participating in the training course physically.

Shipping Activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, Jan 31 (APP): Port activities reported at Port Qasim where four ships namely, Maersk Boston, Chem-Ocean Leo, Al-Deebal and African Hornbill carrying Containers, Chemicals, LNG and Coal, berthed at Container Terminal, Engro Terminal, Elengy Terminal and Bulk Terminal respectively on January.

Meanwhile a bulk cargo carrier ‘World Crest’ carrying 59,022 tonnes of Coal also arrived at outer-anchorage of the Port Qasim on Wednesday.

A total of eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them two ships, Maersk Atlanta and Tromso are left the port on today morning and two more ships, MSC Yukta-X and Bateleur are expected to sail on same day.
A cargo volume of 194,020 tonnes, comprising 135,278 tonnes imports cargo and 58,742 tonnes export cargo carried in 6,703 Containers (3,414 TEUs are Import and 3,289 TEUs are export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 05 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them two ships, Golden Curl and World Crest & two more ships, Marathapolis and Cap Andreas carrying Palm oil, Coal and Container are due to expected to take berths at LCT, PIBT and QICT on Wednesday, while another containers ship, Navios Constellation is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31 (APP):The Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) are jointly organizing five day an exhibition – “Afghan Culture: Conversations Through Stitch & Stone|” from February 1 to February 5 at gallery no 2, Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).
The event will bring together key government counterparts, members of the diplomatic community, UN Agencies, partner organizations, and most importantly representatives of the refugee community, said a press release.
The Secretary of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), Ms. Naheed Shah Durrani will be the chief guest at the occasion.

851 candidates to contest polls from Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, Jan 31 (APP):As many as 851 candidates would contest General Election-2024 from 31 seats in Faisalabad, which is the third major metropolis of the country.
According to a spokesman for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), there are 10 National Assembly and 21 provincial assembly seats in the district. He said that 277 candidates are in the run for the National Assembly seats, whereas 574 candidates would contest election in provincial assembly seats. He said that in National Assembly constituencies, maximum candidates were contesting from NA-103 where 45 candidates are in the run, while the minimum number of candidates was recorded in NA-100 where 15 candidates would contest the election.
Similarly, in provincial assembly constituencies, maximum 41 candidates would contest from PP-114 while minimum number of candidates i.e. 13 would contest from PP-108, he added.
