IESCO notifies power shutdown programme

ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP): The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Tuesday issued a power suspension programme for Wednesday for various areas of its region due to necessary maintenance and routine development work.

IRSA releases 220,800 cusecs water

ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP):The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Tuesday released 220,800 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 163,700 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1544.07 feet and was 146.07 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 88,900 cusecs and 120,000 cusecs respectively.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1226.80 feet, which was 178.80 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 19,000 cusecs and 45,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa , Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 135,100, 115,400, 101,800 and 52,800 cusecs respectively.
Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 24,800 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 6,400 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.

At Pakistan Monuments, President Asakawa planted a tree and laid flowers at the Martyrs’ Monument. Upon arrival, Secretary of Economic Affairs presented President Asakawa with a Ghandhara art album, a cultural cap from Gilgit-Baltistan, and a shawl from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details, in the last 16 round results, Asjad beat Chang Yu Kiu (Hong Kong) 4-1(08-89, 74-62 (62), 71-12, 57-46, 71(68)-24) while Awais outplayed Chau Hon Man (Hong Kong) 4-2 (44-81, 80-08, 17-65, 88-42, 85(79)-05, 66-34).

In the quarterfinals to be played on Wednesday Asjad will faceGao Yang (China) while Awais will be up against Ali Gharahgozlou (Iran).

From September 25 to 27th, 2024, the EXPO Center in Dushanbe will host a major event for the global tourism industry — the 1st Dushanbe International Tourism Exhibition (DITE 2024), said a release issued.

180 criminals arrested in last 15 days

SARGODHA, Sep 17 (APP):Sargodha police arrested 180 alleged criminals and recovered weapons, narcotics from their possession during the last 15 days.
Police said that as many as 90 crackdowns were conducted during the ongoing month and the police arrested 20 suspect criminals in gang-rape cases as well as 18 different blind murder cases with the help of technology were traced.
Police recovered valuables worth Rs.190 million from the arrested criminals.
During crackdowns on drug-peddlers, the police teams recovered 80-kg charas, 4-kg opium, 5-kg heroin, 2-kg ice and 670 litres liquor.
Sargodha police during crackdowns against illegal weapon holders, recovered 34 kalashnikov, 57 rifles, 74 revolvers, 393 pistols, two carbine and 2,000 ammunition,besides arresting 50 power pilferers on written complaints of FESCO.

Motorcycle stunts claim lives of brothers

FAISALABAD, Sep 17 (APP):Two teenager brothers lost their lives in a road traffic accident while performing stunts on their motorcycles in the area of Nishatabad police station.
Rescue 1122 spokesman said here on Tuesday that 16-year-old Shehroz Ali and his brother 17-year-old Bilal Sarwar residents Sultan Town Chak No.8 were reportedly performing stunts by their motorcycles on Daewoo Road when they collided with a mini truck coming from opposite direction near Punjab Small Estate Industries Chak No.100-JB.
As a result, both brothers received serious injuries and died on the spot.
Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies to mortuary of Allied Hospital,while the police was investigating the incident, he added.

Eight gas connections disconnected over violation

MULTAN, Sep 17 (APP): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Task Force continued its daily operation and disconnected eight more connections on various violations.
The meters of two consumers were disconnected over non-billing and recommended further departmental action.One consumer’s meter was found suspicious due to tampered seal, leading to disconnection. The team also found five users who had relocated their meters away from the service point also faced disconnection.
Another consumer who had extended gas connections to more than one house had their extensions removed.
The SNGPL task force has also recovered pending dues of Rs 40,000 from a defaulter during the operation on Tuesday.

KP Govt exempts ETEA test for recruitment in BPS-09, below

PESHAWAR, Sep 17 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has notified exemption of ETEA test for recruitment in public departments including autonomous bodies in pay scale 09 and below.
It however said that Excise, Police, Jails, Revenue, Forest, Rescue-1122 departments were not exempted from the test.
The notification was issued in pursuance of a decision of the provincial cabinet, dated July 12, 2024.
