Food Minister inspects wheat storage centers

PESHAWAR, Sep 25 (APP):Provincial Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru paid a four-day tour of Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Chitral Upper, and Chitral Lower to inspect wheat storage centers and ensure the quality of wheat being stored.
On the second day of his visit, Minister Toru inspected the Bamburet Wheat Storage Center, where he was briefed by the District Food Controller about the storage processes.
The Minister instructed officials to ensure regular monitoring and proper storage of wheat in all warehouses.
Highlighting the government’s efforts, he said  that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had procured wheat from local farmers to safeguard their interests.
This initiative, he said , has led to a significant reduction in flour prices across the province.

PM reiterates Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen Kuwait ties

NEW YORK, Sep 25 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday held a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and expressed Pakistan’s keenness to further strengthen ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.

In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly Session here, the prime minister affirmed the longstanding cordial relations between the two brotherly countries.

The two leaders also reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, ranging from political, economic and defense cooperation to people-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his desire to engage with Kuwait in mutually beneficial economic investments under the rubric of the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

The two leaders affirmed to closely collaborate bilaterally, as well as on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Training course on ‘Leveraging AI for Precision Agriculture’ to be held from October 28-30

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):The Inter-Islamic Network on Space Sciences and Technology (ISNET) in collaboration with Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT) is organizing a distance-training course on “Leveraging AI for Precision Agriculture” from October 28-30.
According to an official of ISNET, the course will offer a comprehensive examination of the synergy between Artificial Intelligence, aerial mapping, and agricultural methodologies.
Through a blend of theoretical fundamentals and practical applications, participants will delve into the challenges, opportunities, and future directions for agricultural advancement.
The topics to be covered during the course include techniques for aerial data acquisition followed by the implementation of AI algorithms for crop’s health monitoring, yield estimation, and stress analysis.
Through case studies and real-world examples, participants will gain insights into optimizing agricultural systems for enhanced efficiency and sustainability.

Railways reunite 626 vulnerable children with heirs during eight months

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Pakistan Railways Police have rescued and reunited as many as 626 vulnerable children with their legal heirs and different welfare institutions during the last eight months with the help of train staffers.
“During the operation, the Railways Police have retrieved and returned around 2,000 lost luggages valued Rs 19.2 million to the passengers,” an official in the Ministry of Railways told APP.
Additionally, the official said that around 13,360 handicapped, injured and old passengers were provided with first aid, wheelchairs, and stretcher facilities during their journey in trains.
Giving details of division wise, he said that Rawalpindi division reunited 146, Lahore 149, Karachi 128, Sukkur 67, Peshawar 66, Multan 57 and Quetta division 13 runaway children to their parents and different welfare institutions.
The official said that most of the children were found unaccompanied and loitering at stations after they left their house following a fight or getting scolded or in search of better life.
Similarly, he said that Rawalpindi division assisted 2,906 passengers, Lahore 2,315, Karachi 6,030, Peshawar 973, Sukkur 386, Multan 421 and Quetta 330 in retrieving lost luggage.
“The valuables that were returned to the passengers included laptops, smartphones, gold and artificial Jewelry, ladies and gents’ handbags and local or international currencies,” he added.
He said the Railways Police Help Desks had been established at all the major railway stations across the country, and the performance of the Railways Police has been quite satisfactory during the last year.
“Police are performing duties efficiently despite the limited resources while steps would be taken to further improve their performance to the optimum level during the next year,” he added.

12 injured in Quetta explosion

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Twelve people including two policemen were injured on Wednesday in a bomb blast near a police patrolling mobile on Quetta’s Eastern Bypass.
According to a private news channel, police officials said that the explosion took place near Barakzai Town while a vehicle from the Khaliq Shaheed police station was on routine patrol.
Immediately after the blast, police and other law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Civil Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police sources reported that a destroyed motorcycle was found near the blast site, indicating that the explosive device was planted in the motorcycle.
The Bomb Disposal Squad has been called in to investigate the nature and intensity of the explosives used.
Injured policemen includes constable Nematullah, son of Fazal Muhammad, and Police driver Abdul Qayoom, son of Zahir Shah.
While, the other civilians injured include Muhammad Essa, son of Muhammad Shah, Abdul Hafeez, son of Abdul Mahmood, Muhammad Qasim, son of Ghulam Muhammad Essa, Muhammad Hanin, a child, Qadeer Ahmed, son of Abdul Rahim, Khalil Ahmed, son of Abdul Khaliq, Deen Muhammad, son of Abdul Khaliq, Hasnain, Saifullah, son of Muhammad Sharif and Abdul Qahir, son of Fida Abdul Zahir.

Woman among two killed in road accidents

FAISALABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Two persons including a woman and an elderly man were killed in separate road accidents in Faisalabad during the past 12 hours.
Rescue-1122 spokesman said here on Wednesday that 40-year-old unknown woman was crossing the Canal Road near Toyota showroom when a speeding motorcycle hit her.She suffered serious injuries and breathed her last on the way to hospital.
Meanwhile, a speeding car hit a motorcycle near Pakistan Petrol Pump on Makkoana-Khurarianwala Bypass.
As a result, 60-year-old motorcyclist Haneef Shami, resident of Chak No.70-GB received serious injuries and died on the spot before getting any medical treatment.
The police took the bodies into custody and started investigation, he added.

One dacoit killed, another injured in encounter

FAISALABAD, Sep 25 (APP):A dacoit was killed,while another sustained multiple in police encounter in the area of Gulberg police station.
Police spokesman said here on Wednesday that dolphin force during snap checking signaled four suspects to stop near Metro bridge chowk but the outlaws opened indiscriminate firing on the police team.
The police also returned fire in self-defense and during this encounter, one of the criminals was killed while another sustained multiple injuries due to firing of their own accomplices. However, their two accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness.
The killed dacoit was identified as Shamroz,son of Muhammad Naeem,resident of Ayub Research Jhang Road and wanted by the police in 9 cases of dacoity, robbery, etc. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Kamran Adil appreciated the performance of dolphin force and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the police team who took part in the encounter, spokesman added.

Police bust car lifter gang; arrest five

RAWALPINDI, Sep 25 (APP):Rawalpindi District Police have busted a car lifting gang and arrested its five members, said a police spokesman here on Wednesday.
He informed that New Town police netted five accused namely Jahangir, Khursheed, Kamran, Iftikhar and Khandan Khan, allegedly involved in car snatching cases.
Police also recovered 10 stolen vehicles including four Toyota Corolla cars, two Mehran, a Cuore, two pick-ups, a Khyber car and two rickshaws, master key and other items from their possession. The vehicles were stolen from shopping malls and different parking areas with master key and using other methods.
The arrested accused are record holders in car lifting cases, the spokesman said.
City Police Officer, Syed Khalid Hamdani appreciated SDPO, SHO New Town, and the police team and directed to accelerate ongoing operation against bike and car lifters.

Substandard food items seized in Chichawatni

CHICHAWATNI, Sep 25 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority on Wednesday taken action against two food establishments in Chichawatni for violations of food safety regulations.
According to PFA spokesperson, during surprise inspections, the authority recovered 40 liters of substandard flavorings and 10 kilograms of expired food items from an oil production unit and a popular local restaurant.
At the oil production facility, inspectors found banned flavorings being used in the manufacture of banaspati ghee.
The production area also contained insect-infested and contaminated containers.
Similarly, the restaurant was found to be using expired Chinese salt and other over-aged food items in its food preparation.
Inspectors also discovered foul-smelling and blood-stained meat in the restaurant’s freezer.
The owners of both the oil unit and the restaurant were fined 50,000 rupees each for the violations.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Vice President of Pakistan Business Forum (PBF) Ahmed Jawad on Wednesday said that Pakistan needs to promote its trade, investment, and economic ties with Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) nations as the formidable bloc has a cumulative gross domestic product (GDP) of $20 trillion.
Talking to APP, Vice President PBF Ahmed Jawad said that an economic bloc with a GDP of $20 trillion could uplift Pakistan out of all its economic shortcomings provided serious efforts were taken to tap the opportunities and potential that SCO offers.
PBF Vice President Jawad said SCO in the wake of a unipolar world is a blessing in disguise for regional countries in general and Pakistan in particular.
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has provided a meaningful opportunity to develop confidence among the member states as well as regional countries for the promotion of peace, security, and stability by addressing the irritants among intra-regional and inter-regional states.
He said that it is imperative for SCO to positively engage the world media to project its policies objectives and achievements ever since its evaluation to the present day. Pakistan’s admission to SCO as a full member a significant both in regional and global contexts.
Pakistan could serve as a hub for the promotion of trade and energy corridor, hence possessing the capability to make a yielding contribution to SCO and provide a feasible link between SCO states and South Asia.
He said Central Asia is of great importance to Pakistan due to its prime geostrategic proximity and hydrocarbon potential. Pakistan being the closest approach for CARs towards the South, Persian Gulf, Middle East, and rest of the World, would be better served on the SCO platform.
