Eight Khawarij terrorists killed in Razmak IBO North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): The Security Forces on Thursday killed eight Khawarij terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted on the night of September 25/26 in general area Razmak, North Waziristan District.

During conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between the Army troops and Khawarij, an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed Khawarij, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians, it said.

“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as security forces are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.

Usman Wazeer makes history with 14th consecutive win

ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): In a thrilling display of boxing prowess, Pakistan’s Usman Wazeer knocked out Indian opponent Thilak Selvam in the first round of the World Youth Boxing Championship at Bangkok, Thailand.

According to details, the match lasted a mere one minute and five seconds, with Wazir’s powerful punches proving too much for Selvam to handle.

The Thai Boxing Arena witnessed Wazeer’s dominance as Selvam struggled to withstand the Pakistani boxer’s intense attack.

After a brief moment of regaining composure, Selvam was hit with another decisive blow, prompting the referee to declare Wazeer the winner on technical grounds.

SAFRON Minister urges UN agencies to allocate funds for local communities

QUETTA, Sep 26 (APP):Federal Minister for State and Frontier Region (SAFRON) and Kashmir Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam on Thursday urged the United Nations agencies and world community to earmark the funds and facilities specified for refugees’ worldwide for the local people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.
Addressing a press conference here in Commmissionerat of Afghan Refugees Quetta, he said that the repatriation process of Afghan refugees would be continued as currently Pakistan has been hosting over 30 million Afghan Refugees.
The minister said that “around five million of Afghan Refugees have been repatriated so far. Of them, over 130000 were sent back to their native country from Balochistan alone.”
He said the hosting country Pakistan has taken all out measures for the welfare of Afghan refugees, providing best possible facilities including education and health for their wellbeing.
Condemning terrorism in Pakistan, Amir Muqam emphasized the Afghan government to take steps to stop cross border terrorism curbing the Afghan territory for terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan has always supported the peace process in Afghanistan, adding that peace in Afghanistan means Peace in Pakistan.
While highlighting the recent initiatives taken by the federal government for the development of the Balochistan province, Amir Muqam said that the development of Balochistan was the top priority of federal government as it has allocated Rs 130 billion development budget which is higher than Punjab for the uplifting of the province.
He said the country has been moving forward and stabilizing financially thanks to the tremendous efforts of the Shehbaz Sharif lead government.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz during his short tenure in the coalition government has paid heavy political price to save the country from default.
 The minister revealed that the second phase of CPEC would soon be kicked off which would enhance economic activities, sustainable development, and inclusive growth in Balochistan.
He hailed the approval of $7 billion dollar IMF deal, terming the development a major triumph of the incumbent government.
  “The political rivals of the PML-N and anti Pakistan elements tried their best to sabotage the financial deal to put the country in the financial crises, however their nefarious designs failed,” Amir Muqam remarked.
The wise and prudent policies of the government resulted into the decline of inflation and created ample job opportunities for the youth, he added.
Expressing his concern over the security situation in Balochistan, the SAFRON Minister said the maintaining law and order in the province is among the top most priorities of the incumbent government.
In this regard, minister said the role of security forces remained commendable. With the tireless and brilliant efforts of the valiant forces of Pakistan peace is being restored and borders are being protected from the foes.
He hailed Adeela Baloch for joining mainstream and discouraging the anti-Pakistan and anti-Baloch elements.
With her joining, this act is a clear message for the miscreants who use women as shield and use them for suicide attacks for their nefarious designs.
Criticizing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on misusing public resources for their political gains, Amir Muqam said that the KP is on the agenda to embezzle the funds and spent illegally on the party’s events.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has failed in mentioning peace and improving governance system in the province which were not remained in their priorities.
The PTI initiated drive to defame state institutions and create space among the public and institutions aimed that to week the federation, he maintained.

Al-Shifa performs 2,500 children’s eye chemotherapy procedures in three years

RAWALPINDI, Sep 26 (APP):The Al-Shifa Eye Cancer Centre has successfully performed 2,500 sessions of chemotherapy procedures during the last three years for children who have been diagnosed with eye cancer.
While speaking at a seminar titled “Story of challenges and opportunities,” President Al-Shifa Trust Maj. Gen. (Retd) Rehmat Khan said every stage of the procedure from evaluation to chemotherapy and rehabilitation was handled under one roof, making Shifa Hospital a unique resource for treating patients suffering from eye cancer.
He said, “Our donors are transforming millions of lives and assisting suffering humanity in rewriting their stories while becoming contributing members of society.”
Rehmat expressed gratitude to kind donors for helping to defray the exorbitant expense of treating eye diseases and complimented the medical staff, for treating cancer patients with utmost care and dedication.
Maj. Gen. (Retd) Rehmat Khan stated that as protecting and restoring eyesight was a noble objective, “We will continue to treat impoverished children with eye cancer at no cost despite all financial difficulties.”
Prof Dr Tayyab Afghani, HOD Oculoplastics while speaking said that the number of eye cancer patients was increasing compared to the regional countries and Pakistan was witnessing an increase in eye cancer cases in children at an alarming pace.
“Children’s eye cancer in Pakistan is higher than in India and China, and genetic diagnosis can reduce children’s eye cancer cases”, he added.
Dr Afghani said that 2000 children with eye cancer had been registered so far of whom 500 have fully recovered.
The Al-Shifa Eye Cancer Center caters to surgery, chemotherapy, and rehabilitation under one roof, free of cost.
The patients include non-affording men, women, and especially children, and 86 per cent of all eye cancer patients are children, he informed.
Two sister departments support the eye cancer centre; one is ophthalmology genetic, which provides genetic screening of the parents to assess any possibility of cancer in future races and suggest how it can be prevented.
The second department is the aesthetic department, which minimizes the effects of chemotherapy and radiation on the skin and face. The adverse effects of the treatment, like facial scars, rejuvenate the damaged skin so that the patient can live a good quality of life, he informed.
Tanzeela Farha, paediatric oncologist; Dr Maheen Akbar, Ocular Oncologist; Ms Maryam Ijaz, guest speaker; Prof Dr Ayesha Babar Kawish, HOD Al-Shifa School of Public Health; Dr. Rutaba Gul, Dr Aneesa Sultan, also spoke on the occasion and shared their experiences.
After the seminar, gifts were distributed to the eye cancer survivors while the participants were presented with shields and certificates.
It is pertinent to mention that Al-Shifa Trust has set up a chain of international-standard hospitals in Rawalpindi, Kohat, Sukkur, Muzaffarabad, and Chakwal.
Al-Shifa Rawalpindi facility is Asia’s biggest children’s eye hospital and millions of patients take benefits annually free of cost.

Walk held to mark ‘World Lungs Day’

FAISALABAD, Sep 26 (APP):In connection with ‘World Lungs Day’, an awareness walk was held at the Allied Hospital-II here on Thursday.
Medical Superintendent Dr Zafar Iqbal led the walk which was attended by doctors, paramedics and civil society.
The medical experts said smoking, polluted environment and other factors were the most common causes which were increasing lung-related diseases.
The people could save them from lung diseases by adopting preventive measures, they said.
They said that the objective of the day was to raise an awareness among the common men about lung health.
