Pakistan hits back at India for accusing Islamabad of cross-border terrorism at UNGA
UNITED NATIONS, Sep 29 (APP): A Pakistani diplomat hit back at the Indian External Affairs Minister’s speech in the on Saturday that depicted Pakistan as a promoter of terrorism, saying it was well documented that India was not only committing state terrorism in occupied Kashmir but also abroad.
“It is most ironic that India, which is committing the worst form of state terrorism in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir while also actively engaging in sponsoring terrorism abroad, is portraying itself as the victim,” Pakistani diplomat Muhammad Faheem told the 193-member Assembly.
Earlier in the day, S. Jaishankar, the Indian minister, protested against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raising the Kashmir dispute in the General Assembly and went on to accuse Islamabad of pursuing a policy of cross-border terrorism.
“It is a familiar ploy of all occupiers and colonizers to paint legitimate struggles for freedom and liberation as terrorism.
India is failing to grasp the enormity of the indigenous Kashmiri resistance against its stranglehold and wrongly blaming it on cross-border terrorism,” Faheem, a third secretary at the Pakistan Mission to the UN, said while exercising his right of reply.
“India must introspect, reflect, and immediately implement the Security Council resolutions that provide for the Kashmiris to exercise their right to self-determination,” he said, and called for holding India accountable for its actions that violate international law.
Highlighting that India finances terrorism against Pakistan using its proxies, the Pakistani delegate said that New Delhi’s campaign to damage and destroy Pakistan’s economy was no secret, including by impeding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through the sponsorship of terrorist groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade.
“India is also supporting terrorism in the Balochistan province of Pakistan,” he added.
“India’s assassination campaign against its dissidents residing overseas has been exposed in Canada and the United States, while its leaders publicly boast of murdering their citizens abroad.”
“India seeks expansion of territory through unilateral measures to consolidate its occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and crass threats to cross the Line of Control (LOC) to take over the liberated territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK),” Faheem said, referring to the Indian minister’s remark that Pakistan was ‘coveting the lands of others’.
Pointing out that India’s military buildup in nuclear and conventional weapons was mainly deployed against Pakistan, Faheem said, “India is pursuing highly dangerous warfighting doctrines to engage in a conventional military confrontation with Pakistan under the nuclear overhang.
He said, “Despite the humiliation suffered by India during its last ill-advised military adventurism against Pakistan—in February 2019—with two fighter jets lost and a captured pilot who was released by Pakistan after Indian pleas.”
“India’s quest for regional hegemony is not limited to posturing against Pakistan only but is also evident by its meddling in the internal affairs of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives,” the Pakistani diplomat said.
In this context, he called for reining in India, whose hubris and grandiose perceptions coupled with its fast-growing aggressive military were a clear danger for international and regional peace and security.
“India must be held accountable for its violations of international law in occupied Jammu and Kashmir; for state terrorism in the occupied territory; and for sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan.,” Faheem added.
India protests at UN General Assembly against PM Shehbaz highlighting Kashmir dispute
UNITED NATIONS, Sep 29 (APP): India has protested against Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raising the Kashmir dispute in his address to the UN General Assembly on Friday, and went on to accuse Islamabad of pursuing a policy of cross-border terrorism.
“Let me make India’s position very clear – Pakistan’s policy of cross-border terrorism will never succeed. And it can have no expectation of impunity. On the contrary, actions will certainly have consequences.” Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar warned in his speech to the 193-member Assembly’s 79th session.
Pakistan, which has repeatedly debunked the Indian charges, is set to exercise its right of reply to the Indian minister’s provocative statement tonight when the day’s speakers finish their speeches. On its part, Pakistan has been saying that it is a victim of terrorism sponsored by India.
In his remarks, the Indian external affairs minister said, “Many countries get left behind due to circumstances beyond their control, but some make conscious choices with disastrous consequences. A premier example is our neighbour, Pakistan.
“When this polity instills such fanaticism among its people, its GDP can only be measured in terms of radicalization and its exports in the form of terrorism,
“Today we see the ills it sought to visit on others consume its own society. It can’t blame the world. This is only karma,” Jaishankar added.
He said that a dysfunctional nation coveting the lands of others must be exposed and must be countered.
“The issue to be resolved between us is now only the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan, and, of course, the abandonment of Pakistan’s long standing attachment to terrorism,” he said.
Jaishankar also said that terrorism is antithetical to everything that the world stands for.
“All its forms of and manifestations must be resolutely opposed. The sanctioning of global terrorists by the United Nations should also not be impeded for political reasons,” he added.

China eyes growing opportunities in Pakistan’s evolving healthcare sector, tapping into medical tourism demand: Ma Jian
ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP): Pakistan’s healthcare sector is rapidly evolving, with China eyeing significant opportunities to tap into its growing demand for medical tourism, said Ma Jian, representative of the Sichuan Liaison Office of the China-Pakistan Business Council.
Speaking at a roundtable dialogue on ‘Cross-Border Medical Tourism’ as part of the 2024 World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare (Boao) Forum (WMTF) recently held in the picturesque Chinese city of Haikou, he highlighted the unique blend of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and modern medical practices offered by China, particularly Hainan, as a prime destination for Pakistani patients seeking world-class treatments at competitive prices, China Economic Net reported on Saturday.
“China boasts advanced medical technologies, groundbreaking drugs and a rich heritage of traditional medicines,” Ma Jian emphasized.
He cited China’s biotechnology innovations in stem cell therapy for anti-aging and chronic degenerative diseases, as well as immune cell and gene therapies for cancer, as world-class offerings that hold exceptional value for international patients.
The global recognition of TCM is on the rise, and Ma Jian sees immense potential in attracting Pakistani patients seeking alternative or complementary therapies. “There is a growing presence of Chinese medicines in Pakistan, with products like Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid and Lianhua Qingwen capsule already approved and proving their efficacy in treating various conditions,” he added.
He noted that the global market for medical tourism is colossal, generating over US$600 billion in revenue last year alone. However, he acknowledged that collaboration between Pakistan and China in this sector is still in its infancy. “There is ample room for growth, especially in medical services and pharmaceuticals,” he stressed.
Ma Jian emphasized the need to expand the scope of treatments offered in Pakistan’s TCM clinics, including hot compresses, physiotherapy, and massage therapies. “This will provide Pakistani patients with a wider range of options and enhance their overall healthcare experience,” he added.
In the realm of pharmaceuticals, China’s advancements in biotechnology and traditional medicines present numerous opportunities for Pakistani enterprises. “By leveraging China’s expertise, Pakistani companies can introduce innovative products and treatments to their market, thereby improving healthcare outcomes and access,” Ma Jian explained.
To facilitate seamless cross-border healthcare experiences, he underscored the importance of legal frameworks, streamlined visa procedures, and improved services, particularly in English proficiency. “As we receive increasing inquiries from Pakistani patients seeking treatments like rehabilitation in China, addressing these issues becomes even more crucial,” he concluded.
Sharing dialogue on Nutrition Innovations; Exhibition held
ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP):A two-day event titled “Nutrition Care Synergies Experience Sharing and Innovations Showcase” was held at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, by International Rescue Committee (IRC) in collaboration with Department of Health Sindh, Accelerated Action Plan Taskforce (AAP TF), Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) and Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF).
The Nutrition Exhibition and experience sharing event brought together experts and stakeholders from various government, UN, and International, national and local non-government organizations to discuss strategies, innovations, and experiences in combating malnutrition in Pakistan, a news release said.
Organized in the frame of the EU funded Project “Strengthening Local Civil Society and Community-based Organisations and their Capacity in the Nutrition Sector in Sindh” with the aim of fostering collaboration and learning, the event provided a platform for sharing best practices in nutrition care and service delivery.

This provided attendees with a comprehensive look at the diverse efforts being undertaken to address malnutrition.
Additionally, service and product demonstrations offered participants hands-on insights into nutrition-related services and innovations. These interactive sessions allowed attendees to explore practical solutions that could be implemented to improve nutrition care. Educational materials such as brochures and leaflets were also distributed to raise awareness and inform stakeholders about best practices in nutrition service delivery.
Dr Ranomanl Lohano, Program Coordinator at IRC, reflected on the need for community-driven solutions and said, “Malnutrition is a complex issue that requires not only technical interventions but also the engagement of local communities. Our work highlights the importance of grassroots involvement in tackling this crisis and ensuring sustainable improvements in health outcomes.”
In Pakistan, the European Union’s support to nutrition commenced with humanitarian assistance after the 2010 floods. Since 2013 this assistance has taken a long-term and sustainable perspective by assisting public departments to deliver nutrition services, within a clear and efficient policy framework. The EU assistance has greatly contributed to the improvement of nutrition. Through the EU supported Strengthening Local Civil Society and Community-based Organisations and their Capacity in the Nutrition Sector in Sindh Project, IRC, MERF and SPO are reinforcing the capacity of 15 local organizations through technical and financial support to foster policy dialogues aimed at informing policy makers with evidence-based findings to shape policies that ultimately help improve health and nutrition services for the most deserving communities.
